finally pulled the trigger on some parts for my truck. CalTracs traction system, front and rear Hellwig sway bars, shocks, drop spindles, hangers and rear airbags.

Verlinden also shut down. It's military stuff, but a major presence in aftermarket. Done.

I won't be starting it for a while. I wanted to get it before they all disappear. I'll probably end up getting a couple more, depending on what they come out with. They are releasing about 1 each month, but mostly F1. Not a big F1 fan. If they do the F40 and fix the windshield cowling issue they had on their 1/24, that will be a holy grail kit for me.

this sucks big time. I bought a ton of stuff several years ago and have some left, but I am running short on some of the stuff I use, mostly the smaller brass parts. What a bummer. He probably didn't say anything because he'd get overwhelmed with orders. Not what you want when you're trying to get out. Hope everything is okay There is a company called Micro Fasteners, but as far as I know they don't make any of the really small stuff, only stuff that would work on 1/12+

I use Stamps.com, UPS and FedEx. As soon as I print a label for either of these, I have a tracking #. I put the tracking number into my order and mark it as shipped. I still have to either have the boxes picked up, or go drop them off myself. I am willing to bet that 99% of the time you receive a "Your item has been shipped" notice, it has not actually been received by the carrier yet. There has been times in the past, where I have not been able to get the items picked up or dropped off after I have marked something shipped. If the customer is expecting something on a specific day, I will expedite at my own cost to make sure it still gets there on time You won't see a tracking update or any info until it is physically scanned by the driver, or when you drop it off at the post office. My pickups are 4-5pm. So If I mark something shipped and have a label printed in the morning, you won't see it being picked up until that evening. You don't have to actually leave your house to have boxes shipped. The USPS will come to your house for free to pick them up during their normal route, but you have to put the request in. Same day pickups are $20, next day pickups are free.

I have never had to wait more than a week for paint from him, but it has been a while since I ordered. I have always had good service and communication. HOWEVER, sometimes good vendors get caught in situations they can't control and it puts them in a negative light. It's possible he realized he wouldn't be able to get the shipment out after he said he would ship a couple times. IMO, refunding the money was the next best thing he could have done, because if he hadn't you would be pissed about not having your money refunded on top of not having your paint I'm an online vendor for my industry. I have a great reputation. I butchered an order last week and it didn't go out on time, when I said it would. I ate the shipping cost and refunded it to the buyer. It put him in a bad spot because he needed stuff by a certain time to complete a job. It's a terrible feeling, it happens to every vendor at one point or another. Also, the word "promise" gets thrown around a lot. Did he literally say "I PROMISE" I will get this out to you by this date? I get that when a vendor says they will do something by a certain date it's generally taken as a sure thing, but sometimes things happen that are out of people's control. Your situation is unfortunate to hear about, but it's not the norm for him, I know that from experience. If you want to try the paint without ordering from him, I have a few colors I probably won't end up using.

CA lacquer thinner at Home Depot is Acetone based. I was able to get some slow cure lacquer thinner off Amazon. It cost me $40 for a gallon, but it's worth every penny

2017 Dodge Challenger T/A 392
Quick GMC replied to Quick GMC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I looked at the Charger Scat Pack, but it's very different than the Challenger, it doesn't get as much attention with the trim. I'll have to wait and see until I am ready and look at what the final numbers are for everything. -
My dad always told me "Don't believe anything you hear, and only half of what you see"

Nevermind, I'm dumb Looking forward to this build, I think I want this kit.

Tamiya 911 GT1 W/ Scale Motorsport Super Detail Kit & Other Details
Quick GMC replied to Quick GMC's topic in WIP: Model Cars
A little bit more done. Used the Scale Motorsport turned shock parts and got everything fitted. I will probably paint the shock bodies to add some color. I am not going for 100% accuracy since there are so many configurations for the shocks. So far I have seen 3-4 different mounting locations for the reservoirs, and several colors of shock bodies. I haven't decided if I am doing the Mobil 1 livery yet, I don't care for it much. I may do a phantom car Kit parts with SMS turned parts. There are also PE faces that go on top of the shock cap Nothing glued, just stuck together with Blue Tack It fits I trimmed tape to fit in between the tube chassis on the firewall. I will use these pieces as a template for carbon fiber decal That's it for now. Hopefully more to come soon.- 35 replies

At first I was going to get a Mustang as my next car. Then I started thinking about space. I have one kid and knew it was still possible to have another. Now my wife is pregnant. I had decided to go with the Challenger Scat Pack 392. SRT engine, Suede lined seats, LED projectors, the whole nine yards. Now I find out about the T/A. This is what I want. If I end up with a Scat Pack, I will be happy nonetheless, but the T/A is exactly what I wanted 1. Air intakes around both headlamps 2. Hellcat hood 3. Hood Pins (optional) 4. Satin Black hood, decklid and fiel door 5. Lowered from factory 6. Super Track Pack with adjustable suspension mdoes 7. 9.5" wide tires. 1" wider than available on the Scat Pack 8. 6 piston Brembos ($ piston only on Scat Pack)

Tamiya 911 GT1 W/ Scale Motorsport Super Detail Kit & Other Details
Quick GMC replied to Quick GMC's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I have learned everything from being on the forums over the years. I think the biggest thing I have to teach myself is patience, but a lot of the tricks and techniques have been from other people's builds over the years. The bolt heads on the brake rotors took forever. There are 48 in total, and I think it took me 200 tries to get them all aligned and glues on correctly. The crossover line on the rotors, I think I made 10 to get 4 good ones. I usually end up having to paint cars 2-3 times before getting something presentable. i watch guys on facebook that are really, really good. Turning their own parts, soldering cages and frames, etc. Those guys make me want to give it up when I see what they can do, especially with the 1/43 stuff. I want to have high detailed builds, but my knowledge and skill level is not quite there yet. For every nicely detailed part I have, it took me several tried to get there. I just spent a total of 4+ hours trying to get the right look for 2 oil lines. I wanted it to resemble the real car and I was having trouble getting the right look and size. Such a stupid little thing on the car that could literally be done in black wire and look fine. I appreciate everyone's' compliments.- 35 replies

I used to be in the field refinishing stone floors, then I started a distribution company that sells all the equipment and trains contractors how to do this.

I actually bought a PE bending tool. When I first saw these, I though it was a gimmick, but they really do make a huge difference. I bought a different brand, but this is where I first saw them: http://thesmallshop.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=9- 35 replies

Tamiya 911 GT1 W/ Scale Motorsport Super Detail Kit & Other Details
Quick GMC replied to Quick GMC's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The Brembo logo had 8 pieces, one piece for each side of the rotors. It was the rotor faces that they shorted, they only included enough rotor faces to do one side of each rotor. For this build, it wouldn't work because I am displaying it with wheels and rear engine cover off. The Brembo logos weren't etched all the way through either, just recessed, so a dilute paint flowed right in there nicely.- 35 replies

Kit exhaust with molded in springs does not look good. Turned some aluminum in the Dremel From bottom to top: kit part, aluminum, aluminum after polishing Got some motorcycle exhaust springs, this will look so much better SMS Super Detail turned inner and outer hubs, aluminum shaft I may blacken or paint the hubs Kit oil reservoir cap compare to SMS Super Detail turned cap and PE cover That's it for now.- 35 replies
