  1. High quality work, the aluminum parts are fantastic.
  2. You've done it again! Wonderful. I'd love to see both of the 352s side by side.
  3. I spoke with a round 2 rep at a show last spring and he mentioned they planned to eventually release all three in the series. The Aerochief was on display, and I believe the pumper was next. I don't remember the third exactly but I think it was the ladder truck. AMT only made three variations, right?
  4. Watching this one! Glad to see you diving into this project. It's gonna be cool.
  5. Can't wait til I see your progress. I'll get one of these eventually. I really hadn't been giving the lowboy much thought, but I'm seeing potential now. Thanks
  6. Excellent all around, especially the wheels and exhaust.
  7. Thanks for posting this. I checked out Tim's website much more and he made several variations of the 579 (daycab, sleeper, etc) some on a modified Italeri 377 chassis. It looks like he mainly focused on smoothing some lines, replacing the mirrors, opening the grille and using oval screen, and moving the front axle a bit forward and down (for the ones that he kept on the original chassis). Of course, he removed and filled the buttons on top and primed and painted. There was a couple of minor corrections to the fenders, and bottom of the cab lining up with the bottom of the sleeper, amongst other things. Not a turn-key project, but nothing too bad. I'm guessing the overall proportions are good. Maybe not 100% accurate, but very close. He seemed pleased, and I consider him the expert. I tried to gather as much info as I could from the text he put with the workbench photos. He also made some mods on the lowboy and that looks really good. I'm now thinking this will be a doable future project, I just need to get my hands on one.
  8. New Ray Toys now has a 1/24 scale 579. As a bonus, it comes with a gooseneck lowboy. I'm looking for ideas in converting it to a more accurate scale model. What issues need to be fixed? I'm not a huge fan of the 579, but here's a way to get another modern truck cab. I hope Tim Ahlborn weighs in on this, because he has recently modified a few and they look really nice. With some work, and maybe a italeri chassis, it could be a winner. Maybe even a resin caster could work their magic and we could have another modern conversion.
  9. Too bad these aren't available in the US, anyone know of any North American exports of the 1:1 K200? I've actually seen a couple new Argosy models going down the road, but I guess that is our only, and rare, cabover in the US.
  10. That's understandable. I was hoping to see you work your magic and build a DD15 or ISX15, but for an office display piece, it would be a waste of time.
  11. Wow nice work. Beautiful truck, and ultra realistic subtle weathering.
  12. Chassis looks great so far. What ya got planned for under the hood?
  13. I know they've been made in the past. I don't think anyone is currently offering one. I'd be interested in one myself. Sorry I'm of no help.
  14. Could you tell us more about what went into making the cab from scratch? Did you use scale drawings from somewhere?
  15. Very cool, I'll be watching what you're doing here. I've thought about doing the "E" conversion myself with the new reissue coming out. Are the headlights the only major difference? Probably other details, too.
  16. Very very neat, will be watching this one!
  17. I too will vouch for his products, I have his glad hands and pipe fittings. Nice stuff.
  18. Wow Wow Wow, absolutely fantastic!
  19. I'd add Moluminum to the above list.
  20. Double Take Replicas makes an excellent W900 grille, but being a hinge issue, I doubt this helps.
  21. I know I shouldn't just comment on its looks, but I can't help being reminded of Boba Fett.
  22. One of the best dioramas I've seen on this forum, and one of the best examples of weathered equipment. Simply a true pleasure to look at.
