  1. Mark, that is interesting about the coupe having molded in seats. I compared a bunch of convertible kits, including the '67, and all had separate seats. I didn't pay attention to a '67 coupe I have. Makes me think AMT had duplicate tools for some cars.
  2. Kevin, those Chevy moon hubcaps were used on the 1972 Nova SS cars too.
  3. I ordered some 74-77 Camaro tail lights from Matt and he actually shipped them to me. It was a $10 risk.
  4. mabye 3rd quarter? 1957 Chevy convertible and 1970 Sox and Martin Cuda in August?
  5. The later has the bench seat that you may want. And the nice Round2 tires.
  6. This kit is basically the Street Rods '63 3 window Corvette kit that came out in 1973-4. It is based on the last annual AMT '67 Corvette and the first Street Rods Corvette had a backup light in the center of the rear that the '67 had but not the '63. The middle backup light was removed in subsequent issues by AMT in the lates '70s or ERTL. It is funny that the interior bucket has fixed seats like a promo. I have several '64-67 AMT Corvettes that the seats were separate. One can guess that AMT lost the tool. Like the '63 Impala and '64 Galaxie, they found the promo parts and decided to use them instead. The kit has a 427 and 327 engine. It seems obvious that the last '67 kit donated the 427, but I am not sure if the 327 is original or re-done in 1973. The 1973 kit had two engines. So, you get a spare engine for other projects! If you compare an original '63 to the current '63, you will find that it is not exactly the same. I am guessing that the tool was re-worked to backdate it. I think it is a great kit. Even for getting parts to restore an original.
  7. Lord You can modify the hinges to make more realistic, but I am not sure they will operate as well. As the kit sits, the mechanisms work very well.
  8. The part that makes this kit a jewel is the working top You can separate the dash from the cowl with an Xacto blade
  9. Gary, your finished GTO model looks great despite fit issues. The original AMT '65 GTO was converted into a Modified Stocker in the '70s and in the '80s ERTL restored it back to stock. That could be where the fit issues have come from. In any case, it is nice to have the kit available.
  10. This '69 Mercury Marquis convertible is basically the same car as the Marauder. It has a 360 HP 429 cubic inch engine with dual exhaust. The only way to tell a '69 Mercury from a '70 Mercury is the front turn signal light and the tail lights. These differences are very subtle My thought is to modify the resin Marauder body to a Marquis convertible. I figure the chance of ever seeing this car in styrene 1/25 kit form is about as good as winning Powerball.
  11. These Marauder castings are about the most perfect resin castings that I have ever seen. It is designed to use the AMT '69 Galaxie as a core kit. It includes etching for emblems as well. The bumpers are not plated, so you must Alcad them or send them off to plating.
  12. The re-issue of the '69 Chevelle convertible is almost exact to the original. However, there are some interior location posts on the Round2 re-issue (the one on the left with CHINA black lettering) that were not on the 1978 issue. My feeling is these posts restrict the interior movement which in turn restricts the chassis. If you shave off the posts, the interior won't be locked into one position and thus the chassis can move too. It should be possible to remove these posts after assembly since they are on the inside of the model where shaving will not be seen.
  13. I just compared some Roadrunner/GTX kits. The chrome tree is the same for all the kits. It appears that the glass is different from the '71 Roadrunner to the '74. The Frames (except a little lengthening on the '74) are all the same as is the engine. The original '74 Roadrunner has emblems, but the later one '74 like the Duke's, has none. If they did not revise the '74, why are the emblems gone? I am thinking that the molding tool is modular. They insert and remove parts depending on the model year they want. That is my guess. maybe they may have lost the '71 inserts. I can't imagine a '74 selling better than a '71.
  14. In general, women have better motor skills using their hands. While the women may not be as strong, their ability to assemble small pieces is much better than men. I know of one case where they tried to use men for a particular job only to find they could not replace the women.
  15. I believe the order of issues was like this; 1971 annual Roadrunner (1971), 1971 mid year GTX (1971), 1972 Roadrunner annual (1972), 1972 Petty NASCAR (1972), 1972 Petty NASCAR (1973), 1973 Roadrunner (1973), 1974 Roadrunner (1974), 1974 GTX (1983), 1971 Roadrunner (1987), 1974 GTX Walmart (2003), 1974 daisy Duke (2009),1974 roadrunner (2012). There may be two bodies; 1971-1972 and a 1973-1974. If that is true, then the 1972-73 NASCAR versions ruined the emblems and ERTL restored them in 1987.
  16. Is this a '93 Olds?
  17. looks great
  18. Deano, the R&R supply appears to be drying up.
  19. This Mustang will always be THE Eleanor to me
  20. Pyro used to make a plastic VW kit. It seemed better than these.
  21. I bought a '58 Biscayne from redsoxfan2. He ran out, but he made more. It took a while but he did come through. I figured the lag was no stock. Also, he implied that he had a guy casting the parts for him. Maybe that is why it takes some time. In any case, he always kept me posted and acted concerned about getting me the product.
  22. I am not sure how they change the Roadrunner bodies, but the 1971 issue of the 1971 and the 1987 issue of the 1971 are not exactly the same. None of the re-issues have the Chrysler logo in the lower part of the right front fender. In addition, the side marker lights are a bit different too. It might be interesting if the did a reto box of the mid year MPC kit of the '71 GTX.
  23. Tim, Thanks for all the great photos. I bought the kit. I looked at the mags a little closer, the Cragar logo is there, but it is faint I think Round2 did a great job restoring this kit.
  24. Tim, Thanks for the photo. I have a 1990s ERTL issue and it seemed to be omitted on the instructions. I have a feeling that it was always there. Another question; I have a Street Rods version of this kit and the mag wheels clearly have CRAGAR on the centers. Did AMT have to remove the logo from the kit?
