  1. This is a good thread. It is a typical problem when buying gluebombs off eBay. Sadly, it take three buys of parts to make one whole car sometimes. The glass is a re-occurring problem too. Fused to the roof with no hope of successful removal. Only option is dremeling the center of the glass out and any other area with too much glue. My guess is a replacement AMT replacement '64 Impala glass is the solution, maybe with no modification. As I read these postings, it reminds me of how many times I have had this problem. When buying built-ups, the phrase from the movie Indiana Jone and the Last Crusade comes to mind, "Choose wisely". Of course, this thread is about a challenge to resurrect and old model.
  2. Nice 65 and 66 Fords. When you look closely, they seem more different than the same.
  3. Did you cast the parts? You need these parts if the starting point is the '73 Mustang by AMT. What about the small '71-72 front bumper?
  4. I like the skirts and long antennae. That is more of a '50s custom look. But, it is whatever you like.
  5. Wow, a cop car with a top speed of 80 mph, maybe. Your model is fantastic. Great illustration of good intentions gone bad.
  6. It's like comparing apples and oranges. The revell has more detail, but it is a different car. The AMT is a nice kit if you want an upscale Fairlane 500 model. It used to be nicer before AMT eliminated some of the custom parts. I can't validate it, but I was told the newer issues don't have chrome suspension pieces as the original kit had. With regard to chrome, nothing is worse than late '60s early '70s AMT chrome. It turned yellow gold. Worse yet it was dull and hazy.
  7. The Round2 re-issue has interior location posts on the inside of the Chevelle convertible body, where as the 1977 Countdown series has none. Without the posts, the interior is free to move forward a bit. Some have complained that the chassis is too far back to center the wheels with the wheel openings on the Round2 re-issue. I might suggest shaving off the posts on the inside of the body and see if it helps. Other than that, I see no differences between the 1977 issue and the 2013 issue.
  8. I was under the impression that the family was still casting the cars.
  9. Nice touch with the cell phone, gas can and propane tank. Wonder where the modeler puts those items?
  10. Nice work, I really like the '62 Galaxie.
  11. I painted my '70 AMT Cobra the exact same color 40 years ago. There was an AMT spray color in their lacquer series for plastic.
  12. I have been watching this thread which is now comparing the Revell Cuda to the old MPC Cuda. The old MPC Cuda that you compare is not the annual from 1970-1974 .It is the reincarnation of the Cuda by MPC in the '80s and later by ERTL. It's not as good as the original and the wheel lip moldings may not be representative of MPC best efforts. It has a funky wavy side and rebuilt wheel openings from it's time a track racer.
  13. Good comment about where you are buying resin. If you buy from Steve Kohler, he gives good customer service.
  14. I posted some pics of the kit in Facebook "model cars" group. I can't seem to post pics here
  15. I bought a Hendrix '58 Impala Continental tire/bumper and a '58 Ford complete kit. My comments are the same as above. Maybe not as good as Modelhaus, but not bad either. My comments are that the '58 Ford had a few air pinholes in body and it looked like the master was a repaired kit that had fender skirts. It was a very straight resin body, holes for clear headlights and the chassis was perfect unlike the ones that you throw away from R&R. After careful building, its like having and annual kit in your hands.
  16. Again, modelhaus to the rescue for original tail lights.
  17. I guess Link, Julie and Pete will be riding in the new Revell Woody from now on instead of the so so Aurora Woody?
  18. I recieved a '69 Chevelle bumper/tail light combo from Missing Link- $8. But I also have a couple pairs from Modelhaus which run about $11 for the same items. It's pretty neat to do a 37 year U-Turn in life and be able to buy this kit again. Thank you Round2.
  19. I have compared the chrome tree on several '69,'70''71 and '72 AMT Chevelles and the chrome is the same layout with some different combinations of options. The side marker lights are probably some leftover vestage of different issues over the years. The big rectangle is the '68 but narrow is what a '69 should have. Seems like my various '69s have different shapes from AMT to Ertl. You will probabbly have to shave off the side chrome another leftover from the '68. Then you will have to add Evergreen to make '69 wheel lip moldings. This is what I did on a Countdown issue Chevelle. If you plan to convert to a '68, leave the side trim the same. I have read that the Round2 issue has '68 front glass with vent windows. This is good news if you are converting to a '68. I hope to see my Round2 Chevelle verts soon. Despite any complaints I hear, I am looking forward to the Chevelle vert.
  20. Love those hood clips. They originated from the SMP 1961 Chevys. The 1961 AMT Galaxies used a rubber band.
  21. 1/25 leaves? what next? 1/25 acorns in the air cleaner?
  22. Get taillight from Modelhaus
  23. I bought the Edsel funny car new in, maybe 1967 or 1968. It was a box with end flaps, printed as though it was a model kit box in a brown paper bag, with part of the box poking up out of the bag. It was a sort of a phantom kit. AutoWorld listed it as $2.00 in their catalog .So, I sent AutoWorld $2.00 for what I thought was a stock Edsel kit but they send me an Edsel funny car and a refund for 50 cents. Something happened to change their minds about a stock Edsel kit.
  24. James where did you get extra door handles. It would take 2 Revell kits to get the door handles, if that is where they came from. Nice job converting the body to a 4dr.
  25. They have a lot of Chevettes in Brasil. Some with the sedan roof.
