  1. Nice photos Terry
  2. Tom , it may be a chemical reaction, but I believe the heat accelerates the reaction.
  3. Do you know the list of '62 kits to make the complete motorcycle. I am thinking the complete bike was in the '63 Chevy pickup.
  4. A good point about how nice the decals are. Who remembers this kit when ERTL/MPC didn't have the Licensing rights for Trans Am decals. You had to cut up the alphabet jumble to arrange then into "TRANS AM". No easy feat and still make it look good.
  5. The '70-72 kits had the nice Goodyear whitewalls.
  6. Makes you wonder about George Barris's imagination about the Batmobile. Ford designed most of it.
  7. I have to agree on the tire burns. I think the heat activates the tires melting the plastic. The hubcaps and inner wheels melt like crazy.Once the plastic melts, it stays soft and gooey forever
  8. The Revell multi-pieced kits are very much maligned. I think we should have a post with builds showing how good they are. Great job Randy.
  9. Home Depot sells a Spray Chrome setup It's actually metallic silver, like they use on mirrors
  10. Considering all the bad things that people have said about this kit, this build sure looks good and shows that it can be made nice. These kits can be found at model shows for $12-15 which is a good deal.
  11. It has to include the phone booth/
  12. There is hope to build this model. Cut the bottom sides off the frame and glue to the top sides. Make the frame separate
  13. Tory the tiny differences are the result of this kit being a Modified Stocker kit in the '70s. The first reissue from ERTL in the '80s was horrible. I picked up a later ERTL version and they had revised the headlights and emblems which was better. Maybe other items too?
  14. A comeback would be Round2 producing 14,000,000 kits like AMT did back in 1964.
  15. The convertible looks like an original '65 AMT annual and the hardtop an ERTL reissue? Great color.
  16. Despite the talk that berate the Revell multi-piece kit bodies, those kits are actually very good. I have built the 1959 Skyliner, 1960 Corvette, 1957 Ranchero and 1957 Country Squire. All the pieces fit perfectly. The 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham is a little bit of an engineering problem. You have to cut the frame away from the lower sides of the body. It was not designed as well.
  17. I should have said Chevrolet. But were there any 1911 Chevys built between October 1911 and New Years Eve?
  18. I am using the '71 Bird of Paradise engine and frame to fit the '69 TBird Allison in Wonderland. But the frame needs modification. The '67-69 TBird kit had a non promo frame with separate suspension and exhaust parts. The '71 TBird uses a promo frame that AMT made separate rear axle and exhaust.
  19. Now that Revell has done the radio and red beacon, does that the Kojak '70s 4dr Regal is not far behind?
  20. Casey is probably correct, another Ford car will never be done with this tooling. I didn't realize how much the S&H label was in demand and that is what sold the kit. The closest bet would be Clint Eastwoods Torino and that might not have enough followers.
  21. I started thinking; I know that is bad. The 1977-79 Mercury Cougar was very popular. Might be nice to see it done with a 1977-79 TBird. Virtually the same car. A few different parts. Probably 5 years from now, if ever.
  22. There are no common chassis frame parts from the 1970 Torino to use on the 1972-1976. The 1972 body is Ford's answer to Federal safety regulations which the 1971 body did not meet. The 2 dashes are common from 1972 to 1979 including TBirds, LTD II, Gran Torino Elite, Mercury Montego, Mercury Cougar and Ranchero. One dash has speedo, fuel/temp and clock and the other has full instrumentation of fuel, temp, oil, amps and tachometer. Some have black plastic and others can have wood appliques. The rear quarter windows operate on the 1972 and 1973. In 1974 Ford cheapened the car by making those windows fixed and can not be opened. If you build the model, you need to put the rear quarter windows in place with a small chrome strip to the front. Apparently, Ford produced 1000 replica Starksy and Hutch Torinos in the Spring of 1975. Magnum 500 wheels were the only choice close to the movie car wheels.
  23. If they formed GM in November 1911, did they actually produce any cars before January 1912?
  24. Edsel, this AMT '71 TBird as well as the '71 Torino and '71 Mach 1 were first designed as a dealer promo. With a soldering iron, you could assemble it as a promo by sealing the hood and using the engine plate. Only difference is that the dealer promos were made of Cycolac instead of styrene.
