  1. I hear they are going to do a special version where the tops of the Volare front fenders are rusted through.
  2. Greg, here are the possible prizes included in a sealed AMT '63 "Street Rods" kit (1973-2015) Both Big Block 427 and a 327 Body is a complete 1963 Body is a Frankenstein, you get a 1963 front and a 1967 rear White body Black body Silver body Brown body Countless varieties of tires Probably something I don't know about
  3. I really like the Torino.
  4. People complain about the MPC 1967 GTO, but it looks fine to me. It actually looks great Harry.
  5. Randy, what is the difference between the two black Camaros? Different years?
  6. This particular AMT '63 Corvette kit is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.
  7. Very clean, I mean dirty work!
  8. I just checked on the Drastic Plastic site and my thoughts were confirmed; The original AMT 1957 Ford Fairlane had the option of using a plastic pin with steerable wheels, or running a steel axle through the holes from one side to the other .Not sure if the latest had that option. The AMT 1958 Impala (2nd issue) did not.
  9. I just looked at the Autoword site, and it is more up to date. They are listing the 1/32 1961 Ranchero kit. I bought it 50 years ago. Now they call it "Scale Stars", but I remember it a "All Stars" on the box.
  10. Except for tires and boxart / instructions, this '58 Impala kit is one of the few kits that exist unmodified in 50+ years. Even the custom wheel covers are exactly the same.
  11. Nice vettes. True, the 63 re-issue gives good parts
  12. As far as I remember, only the AMT '57 Ford had an option of steerable wheels, or solid rod through the engine hole. I don't remember the '58 Chevy having a hole through the engine.
  13. Snake45, the original A163 Street Rods '63 Vette didn't have a small block. It was a warmed over '67 kit. Tim substantiated my memory. There were 2 '63 Vette convertible kits by ERTL in the '80s. The Prestige and another with a red convertible #6774 issued in 1988.
  14. Tim, that explains it. I am positive that I bought the kit in the 1973-75 time frame. There are tons of A163 kits out there with the same box art, but only the original batch were molded with the '67 rear end. Did you notice that only a big block engine was in the kit?
  15. That's the back-up light I was referring to. I remember building the kit in the '70s and realizing that the back-up lights were there after I finished painting that '63. Too late to fill in. I just remembered something else. I built that '63 with a big block engine ( not available in 1963). Seems like there was no small block 327 in the kit because it was a back dated '67 kit.
  16. They will probably do the Cutlass since they will approach sales as a Hurst Olds, and not a Donk.
  17. A lot of the changes in the 69 Cougar kit occurred 25 years ago under ERTL, so Round2 had nothing to do with it. They made improvements where the could such as tires. I would like to see a 1970 Cougar from this kit, but then people would complain that they ruined the 1969?
  18. It might have been a PIA, but it sure looks good built.
  19. You will never again see this MPC '69 Impala or the AMT version, as the tool was converted to 1970.
  20. Rockford Files; Never send a boy king to do a man's job. James Garner was a big endorser of Pontiac and GMC trucks (remember Rocky's GMC pickup?) GM seriously considered doing the Firebird Kammback wagon. They were selling tons of Firebirds (Bandit helped too) so it seemed like a good idea. Maybe the 1979 gas crisis killed it. Nice work X, I need to build mine someday.
  21. Dave, which collector series 1939/40 Ford kit has the moon disks?
  22. Not sure when Cycolac ceased to be used, but my AMT 1970 Impala promo is definitely Cycolac (ABS) plastic. MPC and Johan may have been styrene in the end. Cycolac is a trade mark of SABIC which is owned (70%) by the Saudi government. They bought GE plastics which, too bad for the employees in Pittsfield, MA that are out of a job in 2016. I found that interesting. I like working on styrene models better anyway.
  23. That's like Revell will convert the Del Rio into a Ranchero in 2 years, but I already did because I couldn't wait.
