  1. And then there's when they work on your car and manage to burn down both the car and the shop... right, Tom? (UPDATE - Tom did get a good settlement on the loss of the van from the shop's insurance.)
  2. I think you'd have to get name recognition and a following among collectors - like our forum's Paul Hettick has done - but your work is easily good enough to qualify. And I'd say the same for several other builders here. Maybe not quit engineering but it would be a a nice way to augment one's income.
  3. Never can understand the sellers who put up a high opening bid and expect a sale - better to put a low opening bid and let the market take care of the rest. If you have a never-to-be-produced-again model like a '67 Falcon or a '63 Nova wagon or any Jo-Han full-size Mopar, don't worry - there will be a feeding frenzy. Tulio, I don't see many '40 vert builtups on eBay right now?
  4. Great job - love seeing the damaged ones rescued!
  5. Garry, three numbers/three letters would be blue plates in CA; three letters/three numbers would be black (I lived in SoCal for 32 years and had many of each!) I removed the sticker. Your car probably got those plates around the time you bought it judging by the letter combo; it might have had out-of-state plates before that because black plates (issued '63-'70) weren't usually replaced unless lost or stolen.
  6. Beautiful work, Garry! Might as well add the license plates (save, reduce and print):
  7. On that '57 300, are the custom wheels supposed to be Cadillac Sabres with a bullet in the center? I've never gotten a good look at them.
  8. Does the Revell Roth Road Agent kit have a good fan shroud on its Corvair engine?
  9. OK, but what's my excuse? "It's February... love is in the air and product is in the warehouse!" Always wondered why the kangaroo was giving me that seductive look.
  10. You're too fast for me, Bill!
  11. It also made an appearance in Disney's Dad, Can I Borrow the Car?: (I take it door alignment is an issue with this kit?)
  12. Great work, Dwayne - must have been a real bear to get that roof and rear window correct, but you've nailed it - reminds me of the green base model Impala they rolled on the beach in the movie McQ.
  13. The four Oldsmobiles from eBay showed up yesterday: The '56 is a mint X-El reissue; the 442 is a fairly good build with some damage (I may just part it unless someone can use it); the '63 Starfire got a good wash and turned out to be pretty decent (some Bare-Metal and buffing/polishing would do wonders for it); and the '65 is the one I'm keeping. Came apart fairly easily; thank goodness the glass wasn't overglued - just a few dots. I did spend over an hour very carefully removing all four taillight lenses and I'll pour the mold for them later tonight. As for the hood, the Modified Stocker piece is missing the trim on top, so I'll either watch the usual suspects on eBay or try to cast the one I got from Tom P. Wish me luck...
  14. No, the '63 taillights are a little taller (about 1/16") and a little more vertical.
  15. Paul, did you get any tires with the Plymouth? Weren't they one of the missing molds?
  16. Probably the same as the interest in a '62 Buick Electra, but it keeps getting reissued . I bet if Round2 bought the molds, we'd see the Plymouth and Chrysler on the shelves again.
  17. Nice work, Dan! Here's the Polara 500 emblem Jo-Han missed, if you want to reduce it and print a decal:
  18. Very interesting to hear... did you get any photos, and did you get to keep the model?
  19. From checking photos online, it looks like some - not all - of the original-issue '56 Olds promos had interiors; of course you'd have to deal with the warpage/shrinkage issues. Maybe you could use it for a pattern. The one I'm getting is an X-El reissue, so no interior, but the body is straight at least. I already have a '56 so this one can go.
  20. On the Revell surfboards: The Bed Bug VW panel also used them; I have a couple molded in metallic brown.
  21. Major cool! I'd love to see more LeMons builds.
  22. Yes, despite the box art, the body is much closer to a Sedan Delivery in shape - and even then you'd have to shorten the doors to match that. Might make a good ambulance conversion?
  23. ^^^ Wow. Talk about a part that's been needed for a long time! (Are you listening, MCG?) Cool.
  24. Had to get four to get one: Wanted the '65 to get the taillights to cast and also do a Jetstar I conversion using the '65 Grand Prix roof/glass; no hood but I have a Modified Stocker I'll borrow it from. I'll put the '56 and '63 back on eBay to offset the cost (or PM me and we can work a deal?); the 442 looks like a parts car at best.
  25. Nice to see the Renault Estafette is making it out of limbo; maybe I'll build one as a phantom U.S. market Petit-Panel (which was canceled at the last minute). You know the drill: faded blue paint, CA black plates, oil smoke stains all over the back, and a bunch of surfboards. And I guess I'll have to buy this: Never thought I'd see a model with my name on it...
