  1. I do, too - "Put another 25 cents in, Earl - gotta make it to the Valley for my Playgirl photo session!"
  2. Thanks x2! Anyone have a Super 7 who could measure the diameter? 9/16" (14.5 mm) will fit the original AMT compact tires. And if you need early ('60-'63) Falcon hubcaps, check with Jimmy Flintstone to see if he'll sell the ones he makes for his Econoline van; they're much more accurate than the ones in the '60 Ranchero kit.
  3. Seriously, again with the wrong font on the CA plates? Here you go. Save, reduce and print.
  4. Really looking forward to seeing how this goes together! Was this made from the 3D print file that showed up on (I think) Shapeways a while back?
  5. Went down and took a look at my Comet's stock lenses; each had a pin broken off and each also had sink marks over the pins. I took a pin and dabbed a thin layer of Alumilite UV-curing resin (dyed red) over each one and hit them with the UV flashlight for a couple minutes; the stuff leveled off pretty well and filled the sink marks. (Full disclosure: Still having some issues curing the red resin - it's hit or miss. Will try a more powerful UV light next.)
  6. I have a Comet but no Edsel - checked and the lights (including bezels) measure 5/8", give or take a hair.
  7. You might double check that - '60 Edsel taillights are similar to but smaller than '60 Comet. Best suggestion would be to take the custom lenses and file them flat like this, which would also eliminate the shrink marks, then polish them smooth and make the bezels from flat .030" or .040" stock and chrome them. You could also salvage them from a warped '60 promo.
  8. That would explain the sense of humor involved. Judging by the drawing style, I'd guess the artist was Bob Clarke.
  9. Something I'm noticing is that the Revell kit appears larger than the AMT kit. Tulio, how long is the wheelbase on each one?
  10. Close, anyway. Original kit: Modified Stocker: (Source for both here) Maybe get the exhaust manifolds from one of the Rivieras?
  11. As for non-car box art, here's my favorite: Even though it depicts twice as many XF-92s as were actually built, and looks like they're flying from a base on the moon.
  12. You and me both. Love the Styline boxes for the '50 Ford, '57 T-bird and '57 Chevy as well.
  13. The ONLY good thing about this art was that it meant another precious few '65 Olds kits went into circulation before the Modified Stocker series consumed the molds. (From B67ville on Fotki) Honestly, what were they thinking with these? Somebody had to make a proposal, somebody else had to draw up box art, and some committee had to approve it, and nobody questioned it? Runner-up: this series. (image from Model Roundup) fffffffttt (cough cough)... far out, man. Build the kit! Sniff the glue!
  14. I have a green '62 Catalina that has been cleared with two-part urethane; came out very nice except for a couple small fish eyes on the trunk lid (my fault; I tried polishing the body first). The roof was two-toned in Testor's dark green metallic and the clear didn't affect it either.
  15. Sweet job! What a time warp to see that kit done nearly out of the box.
  16. I posted mine in the "What did you get today?" thread, after adding some period wheelcovers: A few outtakes from that photo session: (In that last one, better avoid steep hills...)
  17. (from the American trailer for Godzilla, King of the Monsters ) Or in the words of Bullwinkle J. Moose, "I like violence 'cause they smell so nice!"
  18. Good to see this one return - you see resin wagons all the time but not the Ranchero. Does it have a vacuform windshield? (And if so would you sell it separately? I could probably use three.)
  19. Got an NOS '61 Ford convertible interior bucket to go in the car I got at Model Empire; the original had very tough black paint on it and when I got most of it off, I found a crack running from the back seat all the way to the rear . I'll probably separate the front seat and put a full floor under it.
  20. Did you have any trouble gluing the rear section from the '61 Galaxie body, since it's (I assume, since it's warped) acetate plastic? What cement did you use?
  21. I've seen pictures of these Novas built, and they all have that issue with the hood molding and grille alignment. We'll see if Moebius does better - AMT just molded it to the grille. So how did you manage to get those inner black rings to stay on the wheels (between the wheelcovers and the whitewalls)? They keep popping off the rims on the set I have.
  22. "Why are you all looking at me like that?" (My ancestral hometown, 1938; from "You know you're from Paducah, KY when..." on Facebook)
  23. I've got two late-issue Aurora '34s in pieces, one a nearly-complete unbuilt kit: and the other a dismantled gluebomb with almost all the parts the good one is missing. I figure I have enough to build one stock and one hot rod. Some pieces, like the door handles, are rather thick while others are delicate (the front axle especially). Still I want to build it since it reminds me of what an AMT Trophy Series '34 would have been like. Question: How long did Aurora produce this kit? The instructions look like they were printed in the '70s. Neither one came with a correct box lid.
  24. Excellent save, Dan! Thanks for showing the results of the airbrushed chrome ink.
  25. ^^^ Oooeee! Want me one of those. I was in the middle of putting a '49 roof on a '50 body to build the Turnupseed coupe, but lost much of it in the last move. What was left included a Carson top and two chopped hardtop roofs, so maybe I could build a couple more customs.
