  1. Hope someone can answer this: How much space is there between each of those seven grooves on the roof of an AMT '58 Ford? And the total width between the first and last grooves? (Kit, not promo - the promos all are shrunken and won't measure correctly anymore.) I might use a '57 roof to modify one of my '58 convertibles, if I can get the measurements. Thanks!
  2. Fine. Here's a Country Sedan. Me too.
  3. You mean one of the Prom Queen's attendants and some guy who was in JV Water Polo?
  4. I posted these in the H.A.M.B. recently, but I thought they might make good modeling ideas as well. They're from the yearbooks of Menlo-Atherton High School in northern CA: More coming...
  5. See what you're gonna make me do? I have a '62 hardtop I built 40 years ago that I sawed off the roof and cut out a piece of Naugahyde to make a top boot. Fast forward to three weeks ago - just put in an order to Modelhaus for a bunch of stuff including a correct boot. Maybe I should fill the back with miniature beach blankets and picnic baskets to hide the seat...
  6. Two ringy-dingies? The valve covers are also notable. Along with the radiator. Good windshield frame and top boot, though.
  7. That pink hardtop is still available? Don't know why the the seller doesn't list it with an opening bid of $20 and let the bidders decide. Never exactly built a car like that, although I will admit to building a '65 Chevelle AWB and using the shock absorbers as grille decorations (my first build and I was seven, OK? )
  8. Finally scored two unbuilt '65 Continental convertibles - cheap and cheaper; open boxes but sealed inside (oddly, each one is missing one metal axle - no big deal): One Prestige, one regular. One will become a sedan with a roof/package shelf transplant from a gluebomb '64 (only '64 and '65 had the same roof); the other may either be parts or trading material.
  9. Wonder if you can tint it red with Alumilite dye?
  10. Anyone know a source for the candy foil here in the USA?
  11. Let's try this: Name all three songs and the biggest connection between them. "I take her to the drags, man and everyone flips For her big blue eyes and her candy apple lips..." "There's a ninety-pound weakling, well he ain't got no place Cause you know he'll only get the sand kicked in his face..." "I never had a steady girl now for more than a day I'd get a good thing going then I'd throw it away..." Hints: Same writer, three different artists (sort of). One was part of a soundtrack, one was an album cut, and the other was a one-off 45. None was a big hit despite the talent involved.
  12. Yeah, I saw that when it first aired; it used a lot of Duel's footage. I remember thinking "God, what a cheap-ass way to make a TV episode! Do they think we're that dumb?" Plus the silly banjo music they played throughout the chase scenes really demonstrated to me how important the original score had been. IIRC the Valiant they used was the second one that was used to film the scenes that were added to Duel for its theatrical release; that car didn't have the factory trim on the trunk lid so they used chrome tape. Can't recall which truck was used (#2 or #3).
  13. Is it OK to leave IE there and just not use it? I use Firefox and keep Chrome in reserve. Only reason I still have IE was I had Freecorder running through it, but it got so glitchy it finally quit working (too bad, it was great for sound capture) so I removed the program.
  14. Aha! You answered my question about Bondic. Now is that part as hard as styrene or resin or is it flexible? EDIT: Never mind - just read your other post. Checked in Hobby Lobby today but they don't have it, but they do have some jewelry fixative that's UV curable I'll look into.
  15. Wish I could go - looking forward to all your photos!
  16. Got a new-old-stock 327 engine plus a couple extra custom bits from the '63 Nova wagon kit: It's destined for the '65 Nova hardtop I've been patching together from a Rat Packer (body, glass and chrome), a very junked '62 Nova convertible (rear quarters, interior, chassis, engine compartment), a Modelhaus hood, and leftovers (wheels/tires, engine compartment items, and front suspension if I get ambitious) from a kind fellow MCM member's Trumpeter kit. Also got a batch of '60 Ranchero items from Casey (thanks!).
  17. Very nice proportions on this one - shortened cars are hard to make look right, but you did it! (Got any plans for the stock hood ornament? )
  18. Or the 405 after the first rain of the season.
  19. Aw, no fistfight afterwards? The '57 Plymouth actually did get cleaned up to "sort of presentable" status, but it's too delicate to do much with.
  20. Looking forward to seeing more - I'd be scared to put the foil on the fins until it was the very last thing to do... Great job on that '61 interior - I just finished removing and filling the convertible bolsters on my '61 hardtop and someday I'll even try painting it.
  21. (I am so gonna get it for this... )
  22. Lots of neat little details and the checkered-flag interior really sets it off. How did you do those door hinges, and are the doors fixed open or do they close?
