  1. Maybe Taylor Webb Used Cars will buy it and name it Jill.
  2. "Dancin' in the sand down on the beach Girls are out of sight, but not out of reach Smell the salty air See bikinis everywhere Girls come every day, you'll find 'em there..." Hint: This band's first seven singles hit the Billboard Top Ten (but this wasn't one of them; it was in a movie soundtrack).
  3. "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)" - Melanie
  4. 1. "This Ole House" - Rosemary Clooney 2. "The Free Electric Band" - Albert Hammond
  5. How about the Buddy L Texaco station? Prices for those have hit the stratosphere. Even replicating parts from it could be lucrative - the gas pumps, islands, tire rack, oil cans, rest room sign, grease rack - it all would sell to collectors, plus diorama builders would want those items without having to shell out for the MRC kit.
  6. Bravo! Actually filmed on the not-yet-opened 210 Freeway near Sunland/Tujunga, CA; that area looks nothing like the I-5 near San Juan Capistrano where the movie is set...
  7. Yes, but it's not a Rolls - it's an Austin Princess, the car you rent for a movie when you can't get/can't afford a Rolls Royce. Some have even had R-R grilles fitted.
  8. "Dad, Can I Borrow the Car?" episode of The Wonderful World of Disney.
  9. Close enough - "A Waste of Money" ("Household Finance/took my pants!" ).
  10. ^^^ Gone in 60 Seconds. By the way, I went through some old video tapes and found the KNBC (Los Angeles) news story about the freak accident that killed H.B. Halicki on the set of Gone in 60 Seconds 2, so I posted it on YouTube: I also found the story about the auction of his estate, so I'll post that soon.
  11. Something tells me I better not post any Cat Stevens lyrics, either... so I'll try something else: I wanted to get Some new girlfriends So I went and bought A Mercedes-Benz...
  12. But that's where John Wayne has his best line: "I'm up to my butt in gas!" (insert f@rt sound here...) Also note that in the final chase scene, the '71 Caddy comes to a halt facing the ocean: - then in the rest of the scene it's facing the shore...
  13. Better yet, how about a '73 Monte Carlo? (With the bench seat as an option.)
  14. These were usually made from the remains of clapped-out four-door sedans; guess it's better than making them into couches...
  15. Terrific job on this one! Did you use a '63-'64 Cadillac Coupe deVille roof? The 1/1 Chevy and Pontiac four-door hardtops used the same stamping as the Coupe deVille for the roof with different C-pillars.
  16. Imagine what a 1964-issue Monogram '49 Olds would probably be like today: 1/24 scale Minor and not-so-minor body inaccuracies Little chassis detail Stock parts missing since first issue Most custom body and interior parts missing since first issue Simplified gasser suspension Blown engine with scoop hole in hood Street machine wheels and tires last updated in the 1980s Interior has stock rear seat, custom front buckets, chrome roll bar, little side detail, a floor shift, '60s era steering wheel and a faintly engraved tach Builders complaining on model forums about that old dinosaur of a kit And if Revell had done it? 1/25 scale, thinly molded body with easily broken windshield posts Doors and trunk open, but good luck making them line up even if you glue them shut All body trim on a flash-laden chrome tree with wavy chrome Highly-detailed chassis (warped) with delicately molded suspension components (indistinctly and heavily attached to the sprue) Multi-multi-multi-piece engine with few locator pins Two-piece rims that try to look like mags on one side and chrome reverse on the other and don't quite look like either, OR shallow mags with thick rims and big flat center caps Custom parts gone since the second issue that nobody misses because they were (1) unattractive and (2) didn't fit anyway Builders complaining on model forums about that old dinosaur of a kit
  17. And speaking of Cadillacs:
  18. Right, eh? 1985. Margaret Langrick and John Wildman both took Genies (and so did the movie).
  19. ^^^ Duel. Let's try this: Two '57 Eldorado Biarritz convertibles. One easier, one harder: Hint: Made ten years apart. One starred an Oscar winner and two nominees (none were for this film) and the other starred two Genie winners (Canada's Oscar).
  20. Testors has one, but the Tamiya one is better (of course it costs more). Whatever you do, don't get the cheap knockoff at Harbor Freight - you'll wind up being chased by dinosaurs.
  21. I imagine he did some work on it - I was there last time it sold and took some photos. Check out this huge crack in the upper left rear; it starts at the trim line, runs down and comes back up to the trim line again. Must be a stress point in the body: Most amusing part for me was the winner was a phone bidder, thereby denying the viewers of what would have been a massive show of fawning over the buyer and telling him how wonderful he was. Showmanship abhors an anticlimax. So they fawned best they could over the next highest bidder!
  22. Have to call time on this one too: What's Up, Tiger Lily?
  23. Remake of Vanishing Point. Watch for the shot of the Charger backing up to the camera - it's been reversed (dust clouds shrinking under the tires ).
  24. Don't see the 1/32 Avanti, but they're already selling on eBay.
