  1. Hmm. Just for Ss and Gs, let's line 'em up, sized to the wheelbase: Now overlaid, aligned at door and hood jambs: Food for thought, allowing for some distortion.
  2. At least Hubley bucked the trend and did that exact model, plus the wagon.
  3. Nice work, Eric! Reminds me a lot of this '55 I shot in Paducah, KY in 1975: Bel Air, though, and I remember it being dark red.
  4. Also note the '65 grille. 13" 4-bolt steelies are on my someday-to-do list... Brian, have you checked out revolico.com? It's Cuba's version of Craigslist; some interesting stuff there.
  5. Glad they didn't do that with the new '57 Ford wagon!
  6. One problem with that :
  7. There's one other '57 Buick: A toy company from Argentina named "Bichi" made a very good knockoff of the AMT '57 Roadmaster hardtop - but in non-warping styrene. They sold it in many versions with accessories glued to the body; the one I got from Tom Piagari's widow came in a Man from U.N.C.L.E. version. I got a warped promo which supplied better chrome and it all fits the Bichi body well. I've scrounged Modelhaus wheelcovers and a '58 Buick kit chassis; just need a '58 Buick kit interior to start putting it together.
  8. From a '67 Corvair: Got a complete NOS engine mostly for the correct fan shroud (future casting project?) and a set of steelies, but missed the dash (needed for the Powerglide conversion). Also ordered a set of small rotary saw blades and 3/32" mandrels to help with all the cutting I need to do, especially on the '62 Newports...
  9. Nice work so far! Also, Roman, you may have some trouble fitting that clear shroud on top of the engine - AMT redid the glass molds at some point and they messed up that part.
  10. I did something similar: I put one on either side of an original AMT compact tire, carved new treads, then cast them in resin and ended up with nice wide 13s:
  11. OK, this stuff is well over $20-$30 for a 90mm x 200mm sheet, and it's been around since 2009; has anyone tried it and is it good enough (compared to BMF) to justify the price?
  12. Having had a '56 210 in our family, I'm partial to them as well. A family friend bought it new: And after we got it in '66. By then the front fenders and rear doglegs were rotted out: I have both the Nomad (started) and Del Ray (boxed). Speaking of the Lee taillights, I made a set for the Nomad by cutting down a set of AMT 1/16 scale '55 Chevy taillight lenses:
  13. Again, hmm. This video - the first of three - was one of the recommendations that came up after the one SfanGoch posted. There may be a learning curve here, but Molly definitely had some problems with it to the point she gave up. Any suggestions for avoiding the "veins"?
  14. Hmm. ?? Still something I could use; several of my projects would be getting new windshields.
  15. Especially kitchen drawers
  16. One of the original AMT Vettes had them, IIRC ('64 convertible?)
  17. If Atlantis has the complete molds (they have at least part of it), we might get the 1/32 scale '56 ex-Revell/AMT kit.
  18. The eBay parts guy has a bunch of '60 Chevy wagon bits this week; the front bumper and chassis would work (especially if you don't need to add an engine); rear bumper might work if you saw off the taillight panel: https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw=wagon&_ssn=vintagemodelcarparts&_sop=10&_osacat=0&ssPageName=STRK%3Anull%3AMESOI&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313&_nkw=1960+wagon&_sacat=0
  19. Would there be any harm in telling us what specific Jo-Han tooling was discovered, since it's all a moot point now?
  20. I have a couple of these - one near perfect unbuilt, and an old builtup needing some parts and TLC. The '59 will work as a donor, although the glass is a bit narrow at the top. Might be better to swap the whole '59 roof and glass since its pillars are better detailed. The '60's tailgate needs its driver's side opening line recut 1/16" to the left to correct the width. Looks like you're also missing the taillights and lower front pan; I have a mold to copy the lights but that front pan launches a feeding frenzy on eBay every time one comes up. Someone with more skill than I should copy that piece... I don't know whether the Revell part will fit. Good luck with it and let me know if you need taillights!
