  1. Very subtle but very attractive mod! I bet you'll have a lot of guys doing double-takes at that one when it's finished.
  2. Small stuff again. Something to plug the hole under my '63 Craftsman Impala: And some '62 Revell headlight lenses (Plymouth) to use as casting masters. Hope they'll fit the Newports.
  3. Might be fun to do a pickup conversion - those were popular in Central and South America. I once saw one heading into L.A.; bright red, mags and Salvadoran license plates.
  4. All I can say is... Here at last indeed. Tom Piagari and I talked about this one a lot - I'm thinking faded blue and white with surfboards. A tiny handful of them actually made it to the U.S., probably dealer demonstrators.
  5. And spot in the paint thick enough that you can take some ultrafine sandpaper and feather it in, then polish. Did you clearcoat this one or is it just paint?
  6. Hi all! I'm working on upgrading my '70 Buick Wildcat from curbside to have an engine; so far I've got an engine, firewall and chassis from a '69 Wildcat. What I need is the front wall/radiator; does anyone have one they can measure for me? I figure I can scratchbuild it if I have the dimensions. Thanks!
  7. Checked Michael's and the coupons apparently still work for the Alumilite stuff. 20% instead of 40% but it's something.
  8. Quentin Tarantino's Peter Pan?
  9. Ugh. Just remembered 50 First Dates - to steal a line from Roger Ebert: "Hated hated hated hated hated this movie." And I usually like Drew Barrymore.
  10. Picked up an NOS '59 El Camino bed floor and tonneau cover (aka tuck 'n' roll donor), plus a '69 Buick Wildcat chassis to upgrade my '70 kit; it has some better qualities like no screw holes going through the gas tank or front end, plus it's about 1/8" or 3/16" longer in the rear so almost no gap where it meets the pan. Updating the previous stuff I got for it, I managed to get the firewall off the interior without wrecking it (anyone need a '69 Wildcat interior?) and got the engine cleaned up in the purple pond. Came out nice with a lot of scrubbing; still need to at least dislodge the intake manifold and reattach it straight. Finally, thanks to forum member hedotwo (Rich), I got the fan belt and accessories from a '65 Riviera to dress up the '69 engine, which only has an alternator; plus the Riv's custom clear headlights and bezels - I want to use them on some future '60s-style kustom project like Darryl Starbird did with a '55 Crown Vic.
  11. One thing I noticed at HL when I went there last week: All the Alumilite casting products were now marked with the red/yellow "Your Price" price tags - meaning the 40% off coupons can no longer be used on them. I'll have to check Michael's and see if it's the same deal.
  12. The more I think about it, the more it keeps coming back to American Graffiti. Closest runner-up would be Duel. Best of the rest, in no particular order: Tora! Tora! Tora! Crazy Mama Back to the Future The Birds Carnival of Souls Flight of the Phoenix (1965) The Blob (1958) Ginger and Fred Strait-Jacket The Giant Gila Monster Dillinger (1973) Cuba Used Cars The Great Race The Queen Flash Gordon Shadow of a Doubt Our Man in Marrakesh ...and many others.
  13. "That looks like 'gub'. That doesn't look like 'gun'."
  14. I've never walked out of a movie I've paid to see (yet); the closest I came was for John Landis's first film, Schlock! aka Banana Monster. Saw it in a nearly empty theater as a double feature with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (way better). Funny thing was, I saw it again in a theater full of people and everybody was laughing their heads off - including me. Herd mentality? ONE funny bit: where Schlockthropus almost gets run down by a '61 Falcon, and he trashes it - perfect Laurel and Hardy tribute. Two more come to mind: Eyes Wide Shut - my friend was getting pissed off at me because I was laughing at the ridiculousness of all the hooded, robed shenanigans - I kept thinking about the secret society having a bunch of seamstresses busy with the costumes: "Darn it, Marge, I have to let the judge's robe out again!" "Hey Myrtle, at least we don't have laundry detail this time - yecch!" Second: The Adventures of Hercules, the second Lou Ferrigno version. Again with the unintended laughter; again I was pissing off the friends I came with; this time it was in a magnificent old movie palace in Mexico City. It was just so incongruous to see cheapo junk on the screen in that beautiful place - all marble lobby/stairways and neoclassical designs that would have been right at home in New York or Hollywood. Wish I could remember the name of it.
  15. No real order here, and it's tough to pick ten, but: Jo-Han '62 Chrysler 300 Revell '62 Imperial Crown AMT '63 Nova wagon AMT '57 Ford Fairlane 500 MPC '65 Dodge Monaco AMT '60 Ford pickup AMT '60-'63 Falcon AMT '61-'65 Continental sedan Lindberg Mercedes SSK Monogram '40 Ford pickup (original)
  16. Got the '60 Ford F-100 hood emblems from Rookie Resin today and they look terrific!
  17. As did the original issue Monogram '40 Ford pickup. I cast a bunch of resin copies of them before I realized the Revell kit made them easily available...
