  1. Big relief to know you're still with us, Tulio! I admit I was getting worried for you there after our last PM exchange.
  2. Welcome back, Tulio! So good to hear from you again with another sharp build. Hope you're well and safe.
  3. Former Edsel owner here giving you a big thumbs up!
  4. I found a chart of fractional drill size equivalents online; the Yakamoz drill's collet adjusts from 0.7 to 1.2mm. Looks like that will accept bit sizes #56 (1.1811 mm) and 3/64" (1.1913 mm) down through #70 (.7112 mm). The Micro-Mark chuck will adjust down to 1/64 (.3962 mm); that will accept smaller bits down to #78 (.4064 mm). That might make a difference if you need to drill out a distributor, ignition coil or master cylinder. One other note about the Yakamoz: It has only one speed (RPM not specified) and it runs off a 12-volt transformer; could it be safely plugged into a speed control?
  5. Three strikes - checked HobbyTown USA in Northbrook, Des Plaines Hobbies, and Hobby Lobby in Deerfield; not there yet. No more shipments until next week.
  6. As Rick said above: Not Disney (it was United Artists), but it tried very hard to be just like a Disney movie, including casting Dick Van Dyke and hiring the Sherman brothers to write the songs! When I saw it as a kid I thought it was like Mary Poppins with a car .
  7. I don't have an Invicta, but here's the wagon: I take it you saw these on eBay now? https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMT-1961-BUICK-SPECIAL-WAGON-1-25-ORIGINAL-FENDER-PORT-HOLES-CIRCA-1961/233852209975
  8. Great! Will check with HobbyTown USA and Des Plaines Hobbies tomorrow.
  9. Yep - it does fit the old AMT compact tires very well; I've scrounged up four on eBay to get a full set. They were the front wheels for the tube axle drag option, which gives an excuse for having five lugs instead of four. Thanks Michael - I was wondering where those came from!
  10. Will check it out - thanks! Eduard's 4x4 or 6x6 Rhomb Type mesh looks good too.
  11. Great! I'll just have to add 7" sealed beams for the North American version, which will make the guppy look even more desperate: And I guess I'll check through the Eduard catalog to find some photoetched mesh to match that grille.
  12. "Be kind - Rewind" Very kind of you to create this "rewind"! If you're looking for ideas for the mini-trucks in the parking lot, here you go: Saw this Nissan at a McDonald's in Pasadena, either '87 or '88 - the proud owner let me grab a photo. ETA: Checked the first post and realized it was two years ago, so the build is long done. "Never mind"...
  13. Sorry to hear that. I lived in L.A. for over 20 years and loved his press conferences - especially the outtakes the late sportscaster Jim Healy used to play. Hope St. Peter doesn't ask him about Kingman's performance...
  14. Great way to end the year! Is that Dynasty Red? And what was the source for the hood ornament?
  15. Probably still there at that price .
  16. If you don't have a Sharpie, put the lens in an alligator clip or other small clamp, paint it, then turn it upside down while it dries. After it does, put a little dab in the center if necessary. Done!
  17. Looking forward to this one - I put that chassis under a '57 Chevy, a '56 Ford, and a '65 Nova back in the '70s; maybe the '65 Fairlane will get it next? The '56 Ford got dropped so I redid it as a wreck.
  18. With one exception I know of: the old Hubley kits. That glass is some sort of acetate and Super Clean attacks it (learned this the hard way).
  19. The Record kit: It has the smaller headlights the home market cars used. This batch of Renault projects came from the late Tom Piagari; there's a Hubley, about two-and-a-half Records and a Heller Gordini: The shape of the roof/side windows in the Record kit seems a bit off, but it's a full detail kit. The Hubley kit has a pretty good body but not a lot more. Here's one I started a while back; mostly I've been fixing the curbside chassis' problems: I moved the front suspension up about 3mm so the car would sit level, and removed the container for the friction motor from the rear (it hangs down like a cow's udder) and filled the gaps around it... ...and enlarged the rear window opening. Speaking of windows, Hubley made them from clear acetate instead of styrene - thanks a lot - so they've all shrunk by now. I've also fixed the chunky Hubley wheels and tires by cutting out the hubcaps with their axle hubs, and inserting them into rims and tires from the old IMC VW. Lee, if you manage to find one, I've made molds for the headlights, front parking lights, and taillights - I can cast up some clear/red ones for you.
  20. See their Yelp reviews... https://www.yelp.com/biz/m-and-m-metalizing-westminster
