  1. Hmm. Going casual today, dear? Where's your necklace and tiara? Remember back in the day when we weren't bombarded with ads? Me neither.
  2. The '67 Impala, etc. wheelcovers arrived, smelling very cigarette-y, but the purple pond should kill the odor. Also got the '60 F-100 glass intact; has some faint stress lines on the passenger side but I guess they all will be like that.
  3. So how many of us have built whole junkyards? My effort from 40-odd years ago: I added more cars and got it a bit more detailed after these shots were taken. I later traded the whole thing (except the forklift) to Tom Beauchamp for some old unbuilt kits, and some of my cars were reused in the Neuchamps junkyard diorama:
  4. Those are now listed as "Your Price" so the coupon no longer applies . Michael's still allows their coupon on Alumilite, albeit 20% off instead of 40%.
  5. You could improve its looks a little by gluing a couple thick (3/32"or 1/8") metal rods with CA inside the rocker panels and clamping them straight. You'll want the slower, thick CA for this, and go over the rods with coarse sandpaper first. Good luck!
  6. If i don't recognize the number, sometimes I'll answer and just say "Security" or "Shipping department". Doesn't do much for automated calls but it gets rid of the scammers quickly. Of course, it also confused the heck out of my nephew and my cleaning lady when they called !
  7. Yes, but they got it wrong. '42 Chevy sedan for comparison: Cut out the extension, and it's really obvious; note the quarter windows behind the rear doors, which the Packard does not have: Whoever IDed it probably was not a car person. Not saying the Packard wasn't at Los Alamos; it just wasn't the car in that photo.
  8. The one in the black-and-white shot isn't a Packard; it's a '42 Chevy.
  9. No, sadly. I guess if they were .jpg files straight from your computer they'd show.
  10. Got a better '60 Ford pickup glass unit on its way, cheap-ish, and ordered the new Nova wagon from Des Plaines Hobbies - should be there sometime next week.
  11. Glenn, can you post the images directly as files in the message? I'm getting blank/"forbidden" messages and can't see them.
  12. Just won these cheeeeep a little while ago: Three '67 Impala wheelcovers on the upper left, plus a pair from a '62 Tempest on the upper right. Time for another mold...
  13. R.I.P. Melba Stokes - my favorite Cloris Leachman movie, Jonathan Demme's 1975 fifties kitschfest, Crazy Mama:
  14. Great build and great backdrops! I like the subtle washes you used on the grille, rear trim and wheels. I used to have a '64 Comet wagon 20-some years ago; nice car. One thing I spotted - you have Illinois plates from 1962; these are the 1964 plates if you want them - purple and white: I remember helping my dad take them off our '61 Dodge when we got the '65 plates.
  15. OK. Next logical step: Clone and bring back the '60 Ford pickup, a consistent $100-$150 seller for good builtups. Assuming they can pull it off in less time than it takes for Moebius to create multiple versions of a new tool full-detail '57-'60 F-100 that will have builders starting swordfights over the inaccuracies .
  16. Hmm. Market casualty of the new/reissued wagon kit? Clean builder with engine intact:
  17. A few shots I used for reference on my '65 project. Low-mile original '65 SS 283/Powerglide: This one was 283/stick, manual steering: 283 with A/C, power steering and brakes... ...and without A/C, manual steering and brakes; note different position of radiator hose: One thing I wish AMT had improved: The instruments are recessed into the dash cluster on the real car: AMT made them flush all three years (no '64): It took a bit of work to fix; I made a mold of the dash and copied and painted the gauges, then made the silver overlay and a clear lens, then carved out the original gauges from the dash and inserted the new cluster from behind. Not perfect, but better, anyway. The dash decal in the new kit should make it easier to fix.
