A fellow modeler suggested them after trying other types, and they worked great! They come pre assembled, ready to glue into your existing door openings, and function like the real thing! Here's a link to them, I used the 6 inch length type, the opening size is about 5mm including the glue flange !!! The item number is H100N http://www.phoenixmodeldevelopments.com/acatalog/The_Phoenix_Miniature_Hinge_Range.html
  2. First class detailing on your build! If I may suggest an alternative for door hinges, there's a place in the UK, that's sells brass piano hinges, small enough for our builds. They come assembled, just cut the length, and glue on...done. here's the place http://www.phoenixmodeldevelopments.com/acatalog/The_Phoenix_Miniature_Hinge_Range.html and they ship super fast! A 6 inch length, open size is just under 4 mm, is about perfect.
  3. Looking awesome, keep up the great work
  4. Nov 22 is the correct date for this show. There's always a ton of talented builders, and a large vendor area for finding your next project! Hope to see ya there
  5. terrific Pete! The paint looks fantastic
  6. Great pics of the mpcv 6×6 Buffalo's! ! I missed a chance to deploy to NTC in 97, shipped to S.Korea instead. Bronco makes a sweet kit of a similar vehicle... How about a drive in the Oshkosh tractor w the lowboy?? Kits coming soon for that too
  7. Well done! love the outdoor scenery
  8. Your builds are so creative, keep up the fantastic work!! Love the Daytona wing, it compliments the lines perfectly
  9. It's finished, check out under glass. Thanks for looking
  10. awesome sauce!! Lol Thanks everyone, I ll take a few outside photos once the snow recedes.I keep noticing stuff I wanted to change..next time! Kenny- my other truck is posted here too, it's a D/R dump truck slightly weathered. I usually build 1/35 so keeping them shiny is a new technique for me
  11. Thanks guys, I really like the combination of old and new on the build. This one ranks very high on the fun meter
  12. Wow, look at the size of that quarry truck!! Cool pic
  13. Thanks! Not bad for my second truck build! The light bar was sourced from the Trumpeter alf kit, the OOB parts said 1980 to me.I originally wanted a roll bar type light mount , but left the kit intact. Thanks for the lighting tip, I'll certainly use it.
  14. Thanks Tom !! I missed finishing this by the show..finally had enough snow to reach the 500 mile goal this season, then went flying by it ..yikes, almost 850 this year.Gotta love 4 strokes, no smoke, and run 4 -ever You'll put those parts to great use ! They fit perfectly in the kit spots..kinda like I planned it that way ! Be sure to post plenty of pics when you start it! Jeff
  15. Just a few finish line photo's of my recent build. Jeff
  16. finished !!! I had a great time altering the kit visor, the ribs had to be scribed . Ended up a tad crooked, but sometimes we gotta move on. thanks for all the comments along the way..on to the next build..something a little more unique thats gonna cement some new skills ! I'll be sure to share the build along the way Jeff
  17. awesome work Tom, and congrats on your new hardware!! sorry I missed the show,
  18. very cool, looking forward to the build.
  19. thought I'd add a pic I snapped today fueling up the sleds..this tri axle Pete stopped by for cup of Joe. I quickly asked the driver permission if he'd mind, gladly invited me to "shoot away" !! Jeff
  20. Mike- I'm not surprised theres not many of these 1-1 around, while searching for images, I read this package raises the price of a typical lonestar 10- 15 thousand ! !! Hopefully our fellow truck modelers spots one eventually on the road.
  21. I'm glad everyone liked the build, That's what modeling is all about..enjoying the build! I hear a few other custom parts are being worked on, time will tell. Our hobby thrives on the interest of unique and different truck parts. Taking a plain kit and turning it into something different that each modeler envisions is important to the hobby. Thank you to everyone that posts their unique projects on here for everyone to learn and improve their own builds, your all very talented. Jeff
  22. Awesome build! The decals look fantastic too
