  1. I puttered w the Cat last night , deciding to fab up the windshield visor. Digging thru my supplies yielded a small section of k&s tin, perfect for the visor. Theres still minor shaping left and pinning the attachment points above the doors..but its looking decent. Small marker lights will attach across the top once its permanently attached. Needed just a slight more angle, grind away a few more thou Much better .. I'm getting much closer to primer now, just laid out the new clean out cover on the drum using the curved end of sanding stick.. hoping napa will have dupli color primer today, I've had poor results w rusto
  2. Awesome work Steve ! The suspension fab looks great, and the new height sits much better
  3. Looking forward to your build ! Transformers were a huge deal growing up..wish I'd kept them now
  4. Great progress! Love the exhaust routing, and how the crane is going together
  5. Thanks Doc ! Part of the hobby i enjoy is figuring out what random stuff can be used for model parts lol..sad part is I absolutely hate clutter
  6. Playing around w interior details the last few days. The stock parts only arrive w dash and side panels for doors. I sourced seats from a snap kw. ,and steering wheel from parts box. I decided the drivers would appreciate arm rests on their seats during shifts, so I fabbled some up.sorry the photos are dark, we'd lost power that day and was working under natural light. A peek into the cab.. I did end up removing the door side rests, Tbill suggested they'd likely only have the rests on doors. Another detail I wanted to steer on the mixer, was the proper shaped steering wheel. I bummed a wheel from bin, then hacked the spokes away. This left me w a suitable wheel to start the conversion. After 2 attemps, I have this roughed in wheel. Its still needs some tweaking, but proud of the overall look. I thought theres was openings on the wheel, ended up sanding the shapes into mine..but they're not openings..oh well I'm leaving them Thanks for following along
  7. Whew that build covers some real estate lol turned out fantastic The Brockway looks capable of pulling all that steel around
  8. Really nice work on the grapple head and parts See your planning the salt technique! I tried it on my oilfield truck and was very pleased w the flaky crusty look
  9. The paint work really shows off the angles and detail parts added , very well done
  10. really nice work, it looks impressive
  11. Thanks..guess a 70s era engine in 2000 generation truck invalidates its clean idle certification lol . Thanks for the ID
  12. Thanks Dan its coming together now Tonite I tossed a parts box engine into the frame , and built up another drive shaft. I'm not completely sure what engine this represents, but it was yellow lol. Now to clean up the barrel and cab, noticed there's no floor included w the cab. Ill rob more seats and floor pan from somewhere
  13. I found those little screwdrivers used for glasses have very small curves perfect for air tanks and such too.
  14. Test fit the fuel tank and water tank today. Fabbed up straps from channel and strip, then mounts from square rod. They fit into square tube attached to frame, probably not correct but look decent. A small battery box was added and covered w diamond plate. I'm starting the driveline now, planning a curbside build from day 1. I figure use a parts box engine/ trans so the driveshafts aren't flopping around. Stuck all the major parts on for a test..ignore my sloppy bondo work..it started cooking off before I was able to smooth it off. I wasn't sure about having a battery box so close to that huge water tank..but pics showed several, so I installed it. Last up the driveshafts going together. Since this is a mixer everything is visible between the rails
  15. Huuuuge improvement over stock, really like the way the ROPS changes look of stock dozer Those tracks look great too
  16. Now thats a tough looking autocar, very well done
  17. Awesome work on the clamshell doors. Making them work too..hats off to you Have you been able to photograph the ones working in your area for more detail photos
  18. Nice progress ! Watching all the smaller details fill up the negative space is always enjoyable for me. Brings the model from a shell to a complete trailer.
  19. Wow your rocking this crane and details
