  1. Science fictions modelers seem to be willing to shell out large amounts of money for obscure subjects, so it might actually be worthwhile
  2. I started wondering about that, and while it doesn't look like anyone's tackled a Cugnot, "vehicle" also includes "ships", so it would probably be this one: But if you insist on something with wheels that moves under it's own power, it would probably be this one:
  3. The ability to make multiple versions is actually an argument in favour of doing more classic cars. For example, Monogram put out a Duesenberg Torpedo Phaeton, a town car, a roadster and a boat tailed speedster, all based off the same chassis and fenders.
  4. That is a 1913 Scripps-Booth Bi-Autogo, and I'd buy a kit too.
  5. I'd take a mid fifties Buick over a Chevy II any time, but I guess it boils down to whether the numbers work. On the other hand, for the longest time I never thought these tri fives were ever going to be made into kits, and between Moebius and AMT, they have. I guess it boils down to whether you can make a case that the demand is there.
  6. I'd take a mid fifties Buick over a Chevy II any day of the week, but I suppose it comes down to making the numbers work.
  7. That is really cool. Now I'm trying to imagine what sort of performance parts you'd make for a gas turbine.
  8. If they don't know about MAN trucks, then they;ll learn something new.
  9. -Me, I think Revell should be praised for making the effort to get it right. though I'm sure someone will let us know why a scan directly off an actual Mustang is totally wrong.
  10. A little more progress on the Imperial. It turns out that Soviet Interior Blue Green is a close match for what Chrysler was using to paint their engines in 1932.
  11. A little more progress. Originally I was going to add a little Humbrol gloss black to the Crimson for the fenders, but they were out, and apparently, the odds of any more are nil, so I'm going to try some Testors paint to see if I can get close to what I want. In the meantime, the colour the Soviets used to paint the inside of their fighters is a close match to what Chrysler was painting their engines, so I got a bottle of Model Master's version, and painted the engine block.
  12. Humbrol Clear Gloss does have a bit of a yellow tinge to it. Their Gloss White is really bad for yellowing with age.
  13. I really like that generation of Mustang. It looks a lot like the stylists took their inspiration from what Bertone did with the Espada and its predecessors.
  14. So was I. I bought two.
  15. You're not alone in thinking the Tiger Shark was the better version.
  16. The L'il Coffin is an example of one where the iconic version happened somewhere in the middle of its evolution.
  17. If you think about it, that the Edsel kit bombed despite extensive market research is just one more way that it's a faithful replica of the original.
  18. Going by what's in the background, that has to be a replica, and yes, it is awesome.
  19. At some point, all of them.
  20. I put Humbrol Clear Gloss on all the chrome when I first built it, which really helps to keep it nice and shiny.
  21. Another one I built way back when, though it still needs a front bumper. Lindberg kits do have a certain reputation, but every so often they would come up with a winner, and this was one of their nicer efforts. The paint job was based on a 1928 Packard in an Automobile Quaterly article.
  22. One of a box of models I brought back from a visit home in Christmas of 2018, I finally got around to repairing it. It was originally built in the early '80s, and the only piece that didn't survive the years was a vent window. I don't know if it even came from the factory like this, but the paint job was based on one that belonged to someone my Dad knew. It's Testors pink with the spare done in Humbrol Ivory. I think it was the first model I ever attempted to paint with an airbrush, and it took two or three tries to get it right. The kit Windshield was replaced with clear acetate for a more scale appearance.
  23. I managed to track down some more Humbrol Ivory, so I finished off the trim. The end is in sight. I applied some Tamilya Flat Black to the stone guard, figuring I'd use a little thinner to bring out the detail and... This was I discovered how sensitive the chrome was to alcohol. I've never had this happen before, including on other Jo-han kits, but this was one of the early ones, if that makes a difference? In any case, some foil should take care of that. On the other hand, it made dechroming the luggage rack easier. I added some ribs, and it will be painted body colour and the ribs will be foiled.
  24. I spent the weekend painting. I got these two a little closer to completion.
  25. The Seville is one of those cars that seems to just keep looking better as the years go by..
