  1. That's probably because everyone is posting what piques their interests. You're going to have to work on that one yourself.
  2. You could combine the stock bits with with the very nice engine and chassis from the Revel '29 pickup to make a really nice stock A
  3. A decent kit of an Auburn Speedster would be at the of my list. Premier released a kit of a Kaiser-Darrin and an Allard that I would very much like to in versions that actually bore some resemblance to the originals. Now, "kits they never issued, but should have" could end up looking a lot like another "What would you like to see?" thread, but of kits that were actually planned, but never released, the top of my list would have been Jo-han's Packard V-12, and AMT's aborted Miller race car. Now if ICM could just be persuaded to release a 1/24 version of their Packard limousine....
  4. I'd have to go with the T-Bird as well. Still the best looking of the modern 'Birds.
  5. Oh yes, the Revell Merc is great for people who don't have to skills or inclination to try and chop their own top, or do any of the other mods, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But if you have a specific idea of how you want a custom Merc to look, and you have the desire to tackle it, the AMT Merc is certainly an attractive option. Not to mention, for those people who like to build stock, it's the only game in town.

  7. Let's not forget that we're not talking about making new molds here. This is about getting existing moulds out of storage and shooting some more plastic through them, so your break even point is a lot lower.
  8. This is one I hadn't dared to hope for, since the originals are as hard to find as actual grails, but this one is making a comeback.
  9. I'm still waiting for the '32 Imperial to hit the shelves here.
  10. No problem. Now, the way I did it places the front wheels further back, which was fine, because I was trying to replicate a specific vintage rod. If you want to keep the stance of the original '32 Ford kit, the brakes from the '40 Ford should be almost a direct swap with the disc brakes on the Deuce kit.

  12. The Revell Pickup rear is a good choice if you want to go with a quick change rear, but Revell's '40 and '48 Fords are a great source for traditional running gear. Here's one of mine with the axles from the Revell '48 on a modified Deuce chassis from the Revell '29 Roadster, The rear crossmember is from the '48, but the 'one on the '40 Ford is a separate piece. Some sheet styrene was needed to make a new K member, and some motor mounts, but overall, I'd say it's a pretty painless conversion.
  13. In that case, I hope Mercedes-Benz will be nice enough to let Airfix bring back their very nice 280 SL kit.
  14. The Studebaker is nice, but I already have one, and I don't need a fancy box that badly.
  15. The Jaguar puts most 1/24 kits to shame. I've wanted one for years, but are all but unattainable on eBay, so I'm definitely looking forward to this one.
  16. Basically, airbrush clear blue onto your pipes, with a little clear orange around the edges. Open up the paint flow just the tiniest amount, since you're going to be doing some very fine work. Also, try "Chrome discoloration" as a search term.
  17. I'd like to see Revell crank out a some more of the custom '48 Ford kits. Even if '48 Fords aren't your thing, it's a great source of parts for the traditional builder.
  18. Going by that brochure, Humbrol #14 French Blue, or Model Master French Blue look like they would be close.
  19. There's lots of them out there. Too many to list, actually. I know Heller, and Airfix both offer car kits with full engine detail, as does Revell Germany. What subjects you're interested in would help a lot. Just sticking to that are on the shelves right now, here's a few with what I think are particularly nice engine compartments that should still be in stores. 1948 Ford (Revell) 1930 Bentley (Revell, Heller) 1950 Talbot-Lago T.26 (Heller) 1957 Chrystler 300C (AMT) 1956 Chrysler 300B (Moebius)

  22. I believe it was a Revell Germany issue. They've also periodically reissued some of the Monogram Classic kits from time to time.

  24. Isn't the Revell XK-120 based on this one? I'd forgotten about the MG TC, which I shouldn't have, considering I have one in my build pile.
  25. The kit goes together well, it looks good when it's done, and it's an iconic subject.
