2025 Cannonball Run - 50 years since the 1975 run.
MeatMan replied to Mattilacken's topic in Community Builds
Quick update on my Vega. I had a problem I didn't foresee with the driveshaft, and then broke the accessory drive sorting it out, so a slight setback. I did finish the interior but will maybe add some detail before I install it. I also installed the glass in the body, installed the headlights & taillights, painted the turn signals, and added some black BMF to the trim. I'm getting there. -
A couple of computer questions...........
MeatMan replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I disabled One Drive on both mine, and my wife's computers. We don't like having our files stored in the cloud. MS added this feature to push their cloud storage business. You can Google how to do it. CCleaner looks like a storage optimization program, and tho it may be good for cleaning unwanted files, it will not work as well as a good virus protection software. It works after infection has already occurred, and viruses are programmed to load before your operating system loads. CCleaner may never detect it. Your best option is a good anti-virus program. Any of the major brands will do. We use Firefox browser in our house (free) plus Norton anti-virus (pricey), but we've never, ever had a virus in over 40 years of owning computers. Although I've fixed many other peoples computers that had viruses, which always start with wiping the entire hard drive. Paying for a virus program (almost any brand) is the best and ultimately cheapest protection. -

Killer detail, and top notch paint work! -
Very nice work!! Beautiful stance with nice wheels. I like how the caps match the interior color. I've been mixing colors for a couple of years trying to get that interior color. I've been using burnt orange as a base. I think I'll cop your mix.

Anyone else getting Bad spelling Scam Email's??
MeatMan replied to ranma's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Its already gotten worse. My wife got an email that purportedly from Paypal. They even copied a legit email somehow, complete with logos and legit links. She's an officer in a club that posts their officers on their web page. Well this email indicated a problem with a membership payment, and included the names of the club president, and the VP of membership and asked her to clear up a payment issue by clicking a link. Of course she didn't, but it looked legit enough for her to call me in to check it out. NEVER, EVER click on any email link, even if you think its legit! They're getting really good at their scams! -
You'll get a lot of different answers to that one!

If you have a word processor like Word, Open Office, or Google Docs you can right click on an open area in the topic, right click & click "Select All", Copy, then go to your WP and right click, select paste, select "Paste as Text", or "Plain Text". That's how I do it. You'll have to do some deleting because it brings in literally everything on the page in text.

what did you absolutely need, that you didn't?

Vacuform machine. I maybe need it for two possible builds. I did buy it after getting a windfall $ so I don't feel bad. Wouldn't have bought it otherwise. -

My wife used a pic of my late brother next to his car in the 80s and asked it to identify the year of the car using one of the AI sites. It did well but didn't quite nail it. The car was a 75 and the AI said it was a 77 - 80.

On the tire issue, some designers tend to use the same ID for the tire as the OD of the wheel. Misfit every time. It takes work to figure out what the difference is and I guess some designers don't know how or aren't willing to make the calculations. It could be that they'd rather them be too tight and need to be sanded, than too loose and require adding styrene to take up the slack.

I get mine via email so I don't have to go thru that.

Many newer cars with turbos come with Variable Geometry Turbos (VGT) where the vanes in the turbo change depending on the speed to reduce lag. Which also, unfortunately makes them more expensive, and probably less reliable.

So I've rounded the final turn and heading down the home stretch. I got paint on the Vega and flocked the interior floor a bit. I've got to wire the engine and install it, finish the interior and then start assembly, and add minor details. -
