  1. Hey Chris, what color is this type? Don't look at it, just use common sense and then tell me what you see. It doesn't take slight of hand to tell Moulin Rouge from Red/orange, but I'm thinking maybe for some people commenting in this thread it may. Oh, and Moulin Rouge was a new color for Plymouth in 1970, so it makes sense (even the common kind) that they would have wanted it on a car that they were sponsoring, to kind of get some exposure, know what I mean? Maybe just maybe, Don didn't like it so he went with the colors on his jacket, (you know, the ones you can clearly see in the 'old' photo? Seriously.). Like I've already stated, maybe, just maybe that car was one of the first, and maybe the first '70 'Cuda that Plymouth sponsored for Don. Below is a link you might be interested in, Panther Pink/Moulin Rouge were annonced by Chrysler in early January, 1970 for early Feburary production. http://www.pantherpink.com/ I'd really like to say a whole lot more but I better not. I just love the stuff you say about not trusting your eyes where colors are concerned, priceless. Keep up the good work!
  2. How about just looking at the photo and trusting your eyes? Does the (red/orange) in the second photo look like the same color (Moulin Rouge) that's on the first car? No! I mean Seriously, wow. But, it does look like (red/orange in second photo) the same color that's on his jacket, that's because it is! Anyone that says those colors are the same is color blind, or , has some other issues regarding this thread.
  3. Looks good Jonathan and you're welcome on the suggestion. You could alway's have purple fuzzy dice!
  4. Looks very good so far Safak! Nice job on the chrome.
  5. Hey Mike great post, I think your wife may have hit on the magic formula, hands on exposure to modeling. And the fact that, " kids need to do more than rely on electronic entertainment devices. Maybe some entity associated with the modeling hobby needs to further this kind of participation/venture, sounds cool to me.
  6. Art, that last statement was made by Harry, I just didn't quote him.
  7. So here's an interesting couple of questions; " Given the chance, do kids still like to build things with their hands? And, " Do kids like cars? If the answer to those questions are yes, (and I think they will be) then it's game on and it's just a matter of exposure. But somebody has to be willing to take the plunge. The following state isn't going to make that happen: " They can do both. So could we... but our kit manufacturers heads are stuck in the 1960s.
  8. I sometimes think that this must be some kind of a 'second golden age' for model companies. I mean look at how many people are returning to the hobby that haven't built in decades, people between the ages of 45 and 60? They are the 'kids' that were building during the 60's and 70's. And while the numbers may not match, it is still a large influx of returning customers to the hobby. They post here on this forum as newcomers everyday. I don't see how this can not be affecting the bottom line for model car manufacturers. People alway's get stuck on the idea of today's 'youth' market, well guess what, there are other customers with bigger, fatter , wallets that are buying your products, right now, today. With that demographic I just don't see how, right now, today , it is doom and gloom for the hobby. (I would love to see some actual sales numbers for Revell, and , Round2). And, with some savy marketing, such as Harry and Brett are talking about to help bring in some more of the 'youth' market, it's boom time people!
  9. Very nice overall Marty, The seats look like real leather, and, that brass had me fooled in a couple of those photos!
  10. Jonathan, I love '66-67' GTX's and this looks as good as any I've seen. You capture that badazz Mopar mystic with the color choices you've made. There is something I've noticed in a couple of the pictures you took; The 3rd picture in post #19 has some purple showing from something in the background towards the bottom left of back window; 4th picture has a purple paint can top(?) in background. I think purple is screaming to be part of this color scheme. When I saw those pictures and noticed that I was like " this is the missing color! And what I'm thinking is 'windows. Give it a look, and , see what you think.
  11. You just go right on thinking that Jeff!!!!!!!!! You might like the seat then, 'cause it's gonna be orange!!!!!!!!!
  12. Nice job Jim, can't beat a 701/2 Camaro.
  13. I like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Good info here, thanks everyone! I should be putting the primer coat on my '53 Studie' today, and then the top coat if the weather holds out. Jeff, Tamiya primer is expensive no doubt, but , it is very forgiving and goes on well, in fact it's hard to mess up putting it on. Oh, and it dries 'really' quick too. Scott, hope the painting goes well, keep us posted. thanks again for all the input.
  15. Zee, I've had the same problem with Purple Power after a long soak. I basically had to sand/scrape the stuff off, 'nothing' would get rid of it.
  16. I don't know Scott, you'll have to wait for more expert minds thatn mine.
  17. Thanks you guys! I knew I could count on this forum!
  18. Title pretty much says it; Can I use Model Master enamel over Tamiya Primer (lacquer) without problems? The plan is to let the primer dry for two hours then put on the enamel, is this going to work? Thanks.
  19. I have no idea what it is, but , for a small car it looks pretty cool.
  20. Nice job Marcos, that paint job looks so fine. Actually it looks wet.
  21. Al, those tail lights look like the breaks are on! Great job!
  22. Very nice job!
  23. Like Harry said, hopefully you will post more of your work in the future Sean. This is beyond modeling it seems, your're in a league that few are in, beautiful. What kind of paint did you use? I love the color of the interior and seats.
  24. Steven, your usual 'MO' = incredible model, very nice, beautiful build. Your chrome work looks like it was plated on.
  25. Beautiful job Carlos! that paint is incredible, and even though taken with a iphone that forth shot is a money shot for sure, I could use that as wall paper for my desk top! Great job overall on the car.
