Thanks Francis! Glad you're following along ol' buddy. Thank you as well Roger. Actually I do have an update. Still some tweeking left to do with the spark plug wire "boots" in the way of shortening them some but you get the idea behind the method. Over the course of the last week I've been at it again as far as engineering goes. I chucked up several of these pins that I have in the drill and ground the ends against a file to reduce the diameter of the pin heads. Then I cut all of the down to the same length (which they still need a little shortening). And here the plug wire boots test fitted into place. Just gotta shorten them some and thenpaint them semi gloss black and they'll be fully prepped for the wire install. (Part of what's been stalling this is waiting on the correct color of ignition wires to arrive in the mail which happened yesterday so forward we go) ...

Thank you all for your comments. It was definitely a build that's out of my comfort zone. Thanks Steve. It took me around 2-3 hours to build this. I was on and off of it for an afternoon. If I were to sit down and devote undivided attention to it I could have gotten it done in an hour and a half. The engines and props were the hardest thing that I had to deal with aside from getting the fuselage bent to the correct arc so the bottom would go together easier. I used drill bits of different sizes to help with the rounded shaping of things like the engine nacelles and fuselage. Have PE bending tools on hand...that did help alot. Other than that it was fairly straightforward.

That is one impressive model you've built. Masterfully built.

My hat goes off to you for picking up a build that's 20 years old and moving towards the finish line. It's hard to make out the details in that first grainy picture but one can tell that there's been a whole helluva lot of time put into that engine. This looks GOOD so far. Looking forward to more.

A few months ago one of my co workers ordered a remote control F-16 from China for $15.00. Well.....two months later it finally came in....except it wasn't no remote control aircraft. What he got was a 3D Metal Model of an Avro Lancaster which was worth, after a little research, just a tad over $6.00. I had to laugh because this guy is ALWAYS looking for the "better deal". Anyways....he was just going to throw it in the trash when I intervened and decided to build it for him so he'd at least get something out of the deal. I started it today and after a couple of hours finished it. I will NOT be doing another one of these in this lifetime I don't think. The metal is really thick and hard to work with but it at least looks like a Lancaster.....I guess. lol Packaging: Instruction Sheet: The end result: I'm figuring this to be around the 1/144 scale range:

I hesitated before putting this build here but figured...what tha hay? There's no weaponry on this one so I thought....why not? Here goes..... Late last year I saw a build review of this kit in Fine Scale Modeler. I've always been a fan of the older Beetles and have also wanted to build a model of one from WWII so needless to say I just had to have this kit. Soooo....my wife got it for me for Christmas. I've been waiting for a slot in which to build it so I finally got one here a month or so ago and I had a lot of fun building it. The only real problem that it has is in the windshield fit. There's alot of sanding that needs to happen with the glass itself if you want it to fit perfectly in the opening. I managed to get it to work for me but it wasn't without its struggles. I will say this however, you will not find a better Type 82 out there on the market that has this kind of detail along with ease of build. IMO this is the absolute best kit out there for this car. I simply could not build this car and NOT put any aftermarket items or scratchbuilding into it so I started by adding spark plug wires and fuel lines to the engine, threw a German newspaper in the front seat from Fields of Glory and miscellaneous items like a helmet, map as well as the map bag, binoculars and a bread pouch in the back of the passenger compartment along with a set of glasses laid on top of the newspaper in the front seat from the Mini Art German Equipment kit. I also added a first aid kit on the passenger compartment wall next to the rear seat. The exhaust tail pipe outlet was drilled out as well. I was originally going to go with Tamiya German Grey as the body color but decided it was just too dark for my liking so I went with, of all things, some Stynlrez grey primer for the body color. After a good coating of Stynlrez I weathered it with an airbrushed coating of Mig Dark Wash which seemed to darken it juuuuuust the right amount. Decals are OOB and after those were applied a very light coat of Model Master Acrylic Flat Clear was applied to the whole body. Any how....here's the completed build: Other Detail Shots:

Don't see any 1/32 scale 234's being built. These aircraft are just all that. Speed, a good bomb load and a nasty surprise waiting for any who were foolish enough to drop in behind one of these with two 30 mm cannon facing rearwards. Looks great Phil.

That is a different but cool look for a P-61. What did you use for the finish Phillip?

Been working on the chassis. I know this aint no where NERE what it's supposed to be but this is all going to work and I'll do the absolute best I can with what I'm working with here. Heavily modified headers are now adhered into place as is the engine.
