  1. How about something really different? Do a Corvair. :-) Russ
  2. Got the Jawbreaker dragster and AMT's 63 Corvette Stingray the last couple of days . Thought the Jawbreaker would be a quick builder, but not for me. Going to do the Stingray as a slump buster instead. As long as I can keep it simple. Russ
  3. While that is true, you may find that most here who have posted about this issue state that this site is the only one running slow that they visit. Hard to believe that a user's computer could cause only one site to slow down. When I posted the OP in this thread, I was using two computers, one at home and one at work. The only thing in common to them was that this site was much slower than others I was also visiting. The site has been doing better, as seen by very few posting about a problem lately. Russ
  4. I was just the opposite. Never really knew much of King Crimson (back then), but was a big MTV junkie in the early 80's and Asia got big play at the time. Turned me into a big fan of theirs, but I too never really knew much about the members other than what bands they had been in. Russ
  5. Well, got it more like a month ago, but my wife bought me the AMT Flying Wedge dragster for Christmas/post surgery off of Amazon. Haven't gotten it opened yet as I just haven't felt up to building anything, but maybe soon. I'd like about 10 more of them, but then that is the case for a lot of the models I have. Russ
  6. http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/7676211/john-wetton-dead-singer-bassist-king-crimson-asia Are we sure this isn't still 2016? I guess this is to be expected getting older, but all this dying going on really sucks. Russ
  7. This is one of my top 5 all time favorite kits. I know it isn't totally "correct", but to me it is perfect. Russ
  8. When will the new location be announced? Thanks, Russ
  9. Update Surgery went well according to those who were there. Been home a week last night. Not been fun for sure. Slowly getting a bit better, but this took me down a lot more than I had expected. Unrealistic expectations I guess. Haven't really felt up to doing anything. I am doing some (very little to me, but plenty according to the medical people) walking and just started physical therapy yesterday. Fighting an infection that just started this week, and serious swelling in my calves and feet that has been an issue since the surgery, right now. I am hoping to start feeling well enough to do some building soon. I get exhausted very fast, which is normal but frustrating. I developed panic attacks mainly while sleeping (waking up in a panic or just starting to doze off) and that is still an issue keeping me from getting much sleep. I see the cardiologist next Tuesday, hoping to get some ideas on that. "Everybody" says that is normal, but they don't really offer any solutions. Have a little bit of prescription drugs for it, but not enough and I am worried about addiction as well. Same with the pain. Which surprisingly isn't as bad as I would have thought. But after my heart attack 4 years ago, my ideas of intense pain have changed. I am actually being told I still need to take the pain meds by the clock, I was trying to go longer between doses, but apparently I still need to stop the pain from starting according to my primary care Dr and the home health nurse. My brain on the other hand doesn't seem to be doing well. Probably the drugs, but I am having a hard time remembering stuff and thinking clearly. That is getting better as well, but was an unexpected result of this. As an example, there was something else I wanted to mention along those lines, but I can't remember what it was now. Oh, now I remember. things like remembering to update these posts. Thanks, Russ
  10. Any update on when these are hitting the streets? Thanks, Russ
  11. I suppose this is my fault. Or at least that will be the consensus. I went to a model club meeting Saturday night. Only problem was that the address I had from the club roster was no longer correct. I found out that if I had known to scroll down on the club's website meeting page they had the correct address, but I didn't. So I wasted gas and money (buying food for the meeting) which I don't have. And I wasn't the only one, as while I was driving back and forth in front of the incorrect house I saw one other guy who apparently was doing the same thing, as he stopped in front of the house and was looking at a sheet of paper which I am assuming was printed directions. After hanging out in the neighborhood for half an hour thinking maybe I was just too early ( I wasn't ) I went home. The club could have put on the website in a spot that was really obvious a note saying that the roster address for this meeting was incorrect and you need to scroll down the page for the correct address. Or better yet, an email reminding everyone that the address for this meeting was not the roster address. I don't know, maybe I am expecting too much. Oh, well. last meeting I will be trying to attend. Russ
  12. Snake, the coupon is available online at HL's site. You don't even need to print it out, just have it on your phone and show it to them. You can then use it every day or even several times a day as long as the cashier doesn't remember you. And even then I doubt if they care. Or just use a different checkout with a different cashier each time. Russ
  13. Pretty sure I am. Depends on when my mother in law gets out of the hospital though. Assuming she gets out tomorrow, which is the plan. Seems like we are playing rotating hospital stays lately here. Russ
  14. Just to start this off, and what got me thinking about it. I think mine would be the Boss Mustang Funny Car from Revell. I do have it, have had it for maybe 18 years. It is one that has always been a "my skills are not ready yet" kit, but I always see it in the stash and want to build it anyway. I built one as a kid when it first came out (never re released to the best of my knowledge). The 69 Mustang Coupe is my favorite all time real car anyway and that also factors into it. Russ
  15. Ok, probably a morbid thought. But I'm getting ready for heart bypass surgery and am full of morbid thoughts right now. But if you knew for whatever reason you could only build one more model before you were done, which would it be? Would you build one of the ones you've been holding on to until your skills were good enough even though the skills still aren't there? Your favorite all time kit just once more? A subject you've always wanted to try but never got around to it yet? A super rare kit that would eat up your last dime? ETC. Looking for specific kits as well as why. Oh, and no saying a kit that hasn't been released and won't be for another ten years. Yes, I am bored stiff right now. Thanks, Russ
  16. Hmmm. They aren't supposed to do that, so I never asked. I always mostly follow the stated rules. Speed limits not so much, but even those I am following much more than I used to. Russ
  17. I would say move to Phoenix, but the pollution is so bad it makes me long for the days of snow shoveling. Asthma, COPD, etc. Yuck. Russ
  18. Update. The surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday, the 14th. joy. I had wanted it to be so I would be in the hospital over Christmas. But no, the insurance company didn't even blink an eye and approved it first try. Must be sicker than I thought I was or something. Hopefully I feel like doing some building, been so depressed about this and having to quit my job I haven't gotten anything done. The model club I am a member of has it's Christmas meeting tomorrow. Trying to convince myself to go. The last meeting I ended up leaving before the meeting actually started. Depression is so much fun. Thanks, Russ
  19. I had forgotten. I had emailed Ollie's customer service asking if they had any plans to expand into Arizona. Their answer is not for at least a couple of years. Be nice if they did, but I won't hold my breath. Darn it. Russ
  20. Which means you can't use the 40% off coupon. Although when I went yesterday there really wasn't anything that just screamed "buy me!" anyway. Plus I don't need to be buying any kits right now. Spending all my little spendable cash on my 1/1 cars. And fyi they have a Lindberg 37 Ford Custom that is $39.99. Along with the Lawman kit. ??? A LINDBERG kit for that price??? Thanks, Russ
  21. Thanks Bill J. Now I will have to add this to my list of kits to get. Russ
  22. Dave, that is the way several other forums are that I am on. But here I am still getting the working "unread" thing. Does that mean something weird? I double checked just now. To clarify, I am getting both the bold and the dot, and the "unread". Clicking on the unread still takes me to the first unread post. Or should I just keep my mouth shut since it is working for me? Thanks, Russ
  23. This is too cool. I really wish I had the room and money to do this. I am really out of the loop on slot cars. How do the brakes work? Only thing I can think of is the controller sends a reverse voltage to the cars to turn the engine the other way? Thanks.. Russ
  24. Strange, they have been there and working on my end on individual posts . I just checked, still there for me, computer and phone. Russ
  25. Been that way for several years now. One of many reasons I've quit watching and caring about it. Russ
