  1. Well, just as I had thought/expected, I got the "thanks but no thanks" email today from the place I interviewed at a week ago. I turn 58 this weekend, and I am really starting to think my age is killing any hope of a job. guess I need to get the spending down to where we can live with no job for me until I can get Social Security. My wife is already on disability so no hope of her bringing in more money. Problem with that is we are already just about at a bare bones level. Russ
  2. Nope, direct hire. Benefits after 90 days. Product is kind of New Ageish, but they've been around for over 10 years. Hoping they will be around for another 10, that will put me into retirement age plus. Not holding my breath though. Being one of the first to interview will probably end up hurting my chances, unless I really stand out compared to the rest. I did send them a thank you letter yesterday after I got home. Hoping that helps some. Thanks, Russ
  3. All of mine end up with the same name. The POS. Never got into naming things. For real cars, I just say " the Ranchero" or "the Subaru" if I have to tell my wife which car we are taking. Animals, yes, but they aren't things. Russ
  4. Monogram 55 Chevy Badman. Monogram T'rantula. Monogram 66 Malibu SS (tilt front end). Monogram Stinger(and the original version, can't remember the name-Trick T?). Almost all of the Tom Daniels kits work as well. Notice a trend here? All come colored already. Quick to build, look great on the shelf. Also the AMT 40 Ford. First model I can remember building completely by myself. Problem is I don't have enough to build for all the times I need comfort. There might be others, some of which are listed by others here. But the ones above are ones that I will always choose to buy over other kits no matter how many I have if funds are limited. Probably 90% of my building is comfort/nostalgia. Russ
  5. I had a job interview today. Would be a decent job with what seems like a decent company. I think I would be a great fit with my background and what they are wanting. That is the good news. They are interviewing into next week though. So I will probably be posting in the Irked thread end of next week. Russ
  6. I would never trust someone else to store anything I considered valuable. Photobucket isn't the first picture hosting site to essentially disappear. There were people complaining (other places) that they have lost irreplaceable photos of family members, etc, because of PB doing this. To me not having them on something that is in your control, is totally insane. People don't realize that this is just the beginning of this sort of thing, with everyone wanting their stuff stored in the "Cloud". But that is just me. Russ
  7. Well, it is there now, but wasn't when I first posted. Russ
  8. No picture showing. Why not just direct post the picture here from your computer, now that it is being allowed? Russ
  9. Thanks. Turns out I couldn't get to sleep, so I am not going to try to go in. Working a 12 hour shift is hard enough, but with no sleep and no motivation we decided it just wasn't worth the little bit of money. It isn't going to be fun there anyways, lots of very unhappy people. Came totally out of the blue for us. Russ
  10. Well, my lousy job luck continues. We just got told this afternoon that they are shutting down our shift. Sunday will be my last day if I manage to make it that long. Kind of hard to be motivated to get up at 4 am now. Need the money so I am going to try. They are going to move some people, but I'm not going to be one of them. Given the options, I don't want to be one of them. I've always felt like this was not going to last, and it turns out it didn't. Only not my fault this time. Russ
  11. Picked up the AMT '67 Chevelle Pro Street model. Was at HL, really wanted to buy something but nothing was screaming "buy me". Then I was looking at this kit and thought that even though it is a 67 and not perfect, the chassis will go under my MPC '70 Pontiac GTO that I have been hanging onto for 15 or more years. For those not into Chevelles/GTOs/Lemans/Cutlasses/etc, they are all based on the same chassis, depending on the years. I think it is 65-67(might be 64) and 68-72. There are enough differences between the two sets of years that a purist would be screaming, but this is just a model and it will be good enough for me. I had a real 70 GTO back in the mid 80's and always wanted to Pro Street it but never had enough money to even paint the poor car, barely kept it on the road. I could never decide on how to build the kit, stock or as the beater my real GTO was. Today it dawned on me it should be built the way I wanted to build the real one but never could. I also bought a 2mm Molotow chrome pen. Hope I can make it work as well as the others have. Russ
  12. Thanks, I knew those. Just thought it strange for there not to be a direct link to click on as all other forms I am on have if part of a larger website. Guess I shouldn't be surprised. Russ
  13. I never visit that page since I got on here years ago. However, the new t-shirt thread made me want to do it. I thought there used to be a link on the forum page, but everything just links to the forum. I did get to the website page by shortening the forum link to just modelcarsmag.com, but shouldn't there be a link we can just click on to get to it instead? Thanks, Russ
  14. Thanks, Bill. I'm not very good at that era Chevy stuff. Russ
  15. What car is this supposed to be? I like the body, was trying to think of some decent fenders/hood to go with it. Maybe 39/40 Ford? I imagine you would have to shorten the frame some though, or use maybe the AMT 40 Ford stuff underneath. Looks like there could be an Allison engine under that huge hood. Thanks, Russ
  16. Thanks, Dave! I hate to say I told you so, but I've been saying for years that being dependent on an outside source for pictures is going to come back and bite us. Hate to see it finally happened at this large of a level. Things like Harry's pictures possibly being lost makes me sick. I really feel bad about people who are commenting on some of the other sites about losing their pictures, since they were stupid enough to not have them stored anywhere other than PB and they are not able to access them at least right now. And people think the "CLOUD" is a great thing. Although not thought of as such, places like PB are part of the cloud effectively and this just goes to show how unreliable it could be if that is your sole storage. As far as forum costs go- I would be interested in paying for say a yearly subscription to the forum (not the magazine, strictly for forum support) as many of the forums I am on have that option. You get a nice "supporter" or similar under your name and the money goes directly for forum things, like server space. Generally you get less or no ads when logged in as another bonus. Most are like $20 a year or so. I think I paid like $100 for a lifetime one for a Pontiac GTO forum (don't even have a Pontiac anymore). Maybe you can suggest it to Gregg? Just a thought. Russ
  17. I haven't seen this problem with Firefox. Russ
  18. AMT for me, but I am all about nostalgia most times. Russ
  19. Rob, if you want a small road trip, try http://www.johnshobbyshopohio.com/ down in Mansfield. Granted, I haven't been there in 3 years since we moved back to Phoenix, but it is/was a great place. I drove down from Akron and even Warren a few times. Lived in Mansfield when we first moved back to Ohio in 2006 as that was my home town as a kid. Make sure you call to verify the hours, sometimes he closes for different things going on. Russ
  20. Hope you can do a 3X or even a 4X soon. Thanks, Russ
  21. The Joint Chiropractic. Went there yesterday (Phoenix Metrocenter location) as my wife really needed to have her back (sciatica) worked on. They refused to see her since she has Medicare. We were going to pay cash, they don't take insurance. Should be a no brainer, but they absolutely refused. Emailed the corporate office to complain, at first they said that they do take Medicare patients, have lots of them, just will not bill the insurance. Then I suggested they retrain their people, and got a reply that they do NOT take Medicare patients under any circumstance. Seems corporate can't even keep their story straight. IMHO, avoid these scum. Russ
  22. Looks Great! How did you do the tailgate? I haven't gotten a kit yet, but I understand that it has the Foose logo molded in? Does it come with the Ford decal you used or...? Thanks, Russ
  23. I would love to see the Heavenly Hearse again, or honestly any/all of the Jo-Han kits. I realize it can never happen short of a time machine, but that wasn't the question. Russ
  24. Very interesting. I'd be getting rid of the Cobra and adding maybe a Mustang funny car/altered, but looking forward to it being released. I don't remember the original, when was it released? Russ v
  25. Thanks. I am doing that a bit, just not much around here. Good thing is I have lots of days for doctor appointments for me and my wife, with our recent history we are both going to an appointment fairly regularly. Also looking into going back to school, not for a job, I am way too old for that, but for some fun stuff, like some music classes. I play bass guitar some, would like to know more of what I am doing. Or welding, I have lots of rust repairs to make on a car I have. Russ
