  1. Interesting. All I know of Pegasus is their low rider stuff, which has me worried a bit. Hopefully I will be wrong. Russ
  2. I liked the box pictures of the frame, but the actual model shown above looks a tad not so good. Maybe it is just the color of the plastic making it look funky. I would probably use the frame/drivetrain with another body, never been a huge fan of the asymmetrical customs. But you never know, might be worth trying. Now if it were the Dream Rod version, no question. Russ
  3. Saw this while searching for the kit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/JOHNNY-LIGHTNING-10-CAR-WACKY-WINNERS-BADMAN-CHERRY-BOMB-TOM-DANIEL-1996-SET/282854185929?hash=item41db6c5bc9:g:euEAAOSwTA9X2-9k:sc:USPSPriority!85302!US!-1 That would be fun to have, but too much money for me for something like that. Russ
  4. Anyone know if this is available at any shops, mainly in the metro Phoenix area? If I were to subscribe, would this issue be part of the deal? Thanks, Russ
  5. Darn, just looked on Ebay. These are not cheap. Not getting one right now for sure. At least I have one in my stash. But this is one I always want to have at least one in the house in addition to the one being built. I honestly can't have enough of these. Russ
  6. Just to voice a different opinion, this is my all time favorite kit. It might not be perfect for some, which is fine, but it is to me. Now I have to go to eBay and buy another one. Thanks, Greg. Russ
  7. That sucks, hope she can come home soon and be okay with her new situation. Russ
  8. Jiffy lube. Been a while since I had the oil changed. Went there today, and they refused to do it since it has been too long "according to corporate". Seems they are now dating the oil filters and if you go back with a filter dated by them and your mileage is high from the last oil change they did they won't do it. Yes, I know. But I generally don't have the ability anymore to do it myself. But if I want to go there anymore I guess I will have to change the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAHing filter myself so I can say I have had the oil changed elsewhere in between visits there. Or else find someplace else. Russ
  9. Thanks, Casey. I just had to buy another whole kit (already have one in progress) since those you posted already got sold. Need the tires for another model, will use the chassis/drivetrain for something. One hot dogger is enough. Russ
  10. Agreed. Unless he has drastically changed the store lately. Nice selection yes, but no where near Casey's pictures. He was actually friendlier than the staff at the now departed store at 35th and Greenway. They made me feel like scum. Russ
  11. '57 Ford Gasser Wagon, '51 Chevy convertible, MPC '75 Vettes, AMT Aero Chief, 1/8 MPC Honda race motorcycle, someone mention Shuttle kits, pretty much all of the list that has been talked about. At $6-8 a kit for most, that is a no brainer for me. I'll buy kits I don't even particularly like at that price. But when you add in shipping costs I have to rethink it. For less than $13 I would definitely have gotten that fire truck, and I don't do fire trucks. But I would at that price. I have one '57 Ford Gasser Wagon, I'd have bought several more at $7 or so a kit. The other one I really wanted but kept putting off was the 69 Barracuda. I ended up getting one on Ebay yesterday for about the same cost as the HL price before the clearance. Oh well. This is the price you pay when you live paycheck to paycheck and don't have money set aside for unexpected things. Thanks, Russ
  12. I finally made it to the Glendale AZ store at 75th Ave and Bell this morning. Other than a very few empty shelf slots there was nothing. I didn't see most of the kits (couldn't remember all of them) mentioned here at all, so I probably missed the sale. I walked the whole store while my wife was shopping just to make sure. bummer as some of those kits I was even willing to pay their retail (with the coupon) but I waited to long. Always had one I wanted more. Russ
  13. Been waiting for my signing bonus to arrive. Found out today that after 3 weeks the hr person hasn't submitted the paperwork yet. We aren't starving, but we could really use the extra cash right now and were really counting on it. Russ
  14. I tried to go to the one nearest me today, but got vetoed by my wife. Seems we have spent our limit and then some til next payday. Darn it. Russ
  15. First time in my life I wish I could be in Iowa. Russ
  16. First, I hope they succeed. Can't hurt to have more companies making kits. I also hope they do some older Nascar stuff. I am not a Nascar builder, but would love some of the 60's to early 70's race cars. Personally I just have no interest in most cars period past about 1972. Especially mid/late 70's and newer GM products. Never have been a fan of those bodies. Even the later Fords aren't so hot to me. Russ
  17. boy this past year went by too fast. Russ
  18. Use different diameters of hollow tubing (brass/aluminum/stainless) that fit inside one another. I seem to remember reading that somewhere in the past. ??? HTH, Russ
  19. So according to the mod who moved the post under question, if you post any 1:1 pictures then the post should be in the reference photo section. That is how I am reading his post above. My take from this is don't post any real car photos in this part of the forum. Russ
  20. And we all know how that worked out. ? Russ
  21. Picked up a couple today at HL. The Gasman 49 Ford, and the Dodge Country Charger. Neither are real high on my wish list, but I've always liked 49 Fords so I decided to get one while they are still around. I tend to delay until something is discontinued. The Charger was an opened/started (barely) kit on clearance for $10. Supposed to be missing one piece, but looks like all the major bits are still there. Could be the rear bumper, I did a quick check and don't remember seeing that. I'll worry about it later. Looks like a bit of blue paint on a little bit of the interior tub and the wheels/tires are put together. Figure that for the price and the fact that I don't really like Mopars that much maybe this will be a good slump buster. Or just take up more shelf space. Thanks, Russ
  22. Thanks, everyone. Russ
  23. OK, not exactly today, but this week. I had an interview last week for a position at the company I am currently at as a temp, but it would be a direct hire with benefits, etc in another area(repair, currently in production). Got told Monday they really wanted me. Got and accepted the official job offer Tuesday. Start date is hopefully the 22nd, but they are still a bit slow on the background checks and paperwork. They require all that to be done again, even though I just did it in September. Second shift, but one month on days for training. I'm hoping I can show them it won't take that long. I really don't like day shift. Mornings=yuck. Once I go back to second shift, this will be a $6 an hour raise. $4 til then. That should pay for most of the insurance costs I hope. Yes, I will have insurance, medical/dental/vision. And sick time. And vacation. And holiday pay. Oh, and unexpected by me, there is a $4k signing bonus. We are still needing to pay back my family for paying for my mother in laws cremation, so this will take care of that. Hoping for a bit to spend on the Ranchero/models/bass guitar, but even if the bonus is gone the pay raise will allow me to spend some here and there. Wife gets to spend a bit also. Job is a bench tech repairing customer returns. This company is very large in the aviation industry, supplies many aircraft manufacturers. Military as well, but I don't know if I will be doing any of that. Haven't been told what product lines I will be working on yet. Thanks, Russ
  24. Thanks. I was worried that stuff was too new, guess it is just a matter of trying it and waiting a few years. Russ
