No pictures yet other than whats on my phone and I can't find my usb cable for it. I bought another project car. At least this one is starting out as a project, unlike my Ranchero which has turned into one. And I was just getting everything together to get it back together. Going to try to get both done. I don't have a good history of getting one done. 1979 Ford Pinto. ESS model, all glass hatch, moon roof. No engine/trans although it is setup for a 2.3turbo rear sump engine with a T5. Fully caged. I must be insane. Seller is delivering it here Sunday from Tucson. Planning on taking the 2.3 (EFI no turbo)and auto A4LD from the 89 Mustang I bought for my wife but haven't done anything with for the last 2 years for it. Thought a Fox Mustang would cure my Mustang need, but it just doesn't. Has to be a 69 or nothing apparently. Have no interest in working on or driving this car. Wife would rather drive our Subaru. Seller had the cage installed 20 years ago and then must have lost interest or had other stuff come up, just never got back to it. His parent's are the original owners. Comes with almost everything he took off of it except the eng/trans, windshield, and seats. Well, I have that stuff, except for a 79 windshield. My 74 windshield won't work. Also comes with an 8 inch rear with 4.10 gears. This will actually be my third Pinto. I had a 79 in Ohio that I drove for like 2 years. Currently have a 74 wagon that keeps getting shoved back on the list, might not ever get done at this rate. It has some structural issues that I didn't catch when I bought it. I needed another project like I needed another hole in my head. But for the price and what it is I decided I couldn't resist. $700 delivered. He has been trying to sell it for quite some time. Guess I was the idiot, oops, buyer, he was looking for. Russ

Maybe this one? look on page 2. I thought these were numbered, but it was talked about in this thread. Post was on September 1 2016 by Impalow, up a bit from my reply shown above. Quote Members 762 posts Location:Wadsworth Ohio Full Name:Eric Ritz Report post Posted September 1, 2016 That is actually an interesting story.. I'm not using heat, I am using a different type of styrene rod than just typical evergreen. I get this stuff off eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/STYRENE-ROUND-ROD-120-PIECE-ASSORTMENT-LOT-6-SIZES-PIPE/122094423448?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D37570%26meid%3D2be1c9a6a5a74c38acfdf6022ada2dc9%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D111889933610 I stumbled on this on accident, it bends and holds its shape without heat.. The only downfall is, it doesn't glue well with normal styrene glue (I only use CA on it), and sometimes the pieces are not uniform in diameter from end to end. I have purchased this 120 piece assortment, and recently purchased just 120 pieces of the .080 in a custom auction from him. The diameter thing is a bit of a bummer, but once you are aware of it, you can pick and choose pieces so its not much of an issue. I am a really big fan of this stuff, I have never had much luck using heat. Unquote Russ

Jonathan, Was that the one in East Mesa on I think Power Rd? In a center with a bunch of other outlet type stores? If so I used to go there a lot, used to live out that way back then. bought a bunch of models there with the idea of using them to practice with, but never did. Russ -
Another Quick Poll
russosborne replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Cheetah was one of my favorite slot cars back in the 60's. I was a bit young, born in 59, but my dad was huge into racing slot cars and I even got to have one or two. I like most wild customs, but this one has never been one of those. Yuck. Russ -

Is it best to polish in a back and forth pattern, or circular? And before or after applying decals/BMF? Thanks, Russ -
Just a quick poll

I voted for the '28, but I have two of the Hot Dogger kits. But I did buy the second one with a body swap in mind. Russ -
Dyno Don Funny car coming next year 2018
russosborne replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Red is fine with me. I plan on buying a few or more. I honestly would like 10-12, but I won't be able to buy that many at one time. Hoping they won't sell out the first week. I might even get a woodburner and build one the way I did as a kid. Motor through the roof. Just for nostalgia's sake. Russ -

When? I need to be there when they hit the shelf. Russ -
I've never understood the angst about bidding on Ebay. If I see something I want, I decide my max price and bid that. Then I walk away and wait. If I get it great, if not, it was more than I was willing to pay. Since Ebay automatically raises my bids until my max is reached I don't need to do anything else. Been working for me since the 90's. I prefer buy it now these days, but once in a great while something shows up as an auction that I really want. Russ

What do you recommend for black washes?

Steve, are you using it straight out of the bottle or are you diluting it? Thanks, Russ -

Snake, about what ratio do you mix those? I used to use the Detailer stuff, but agree it doesn't do a good job, so I gave up. Thanks, Russ -
Are Some Models Just Cursed?
russosborne replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, every one I touch. Or wait, does that mean I am the one cursed? Russ -
Just worked my last planned day shift. Starting Monday I am back to second shift (2:30 to 11pm). Could vary a bit but no more getting up at 7am to be there at 9. Unless I totally screw this up, but I am pretty confident I have most of what I need down. Boss isn't expecting perfection or 100% right away. Russ

Monogram 66 Malibu Street Rat
russosborne replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This is one of my favorites as well. There have been several of the black version on ebay, but they aren't cheap. I had forgotten the red version was basically the same kit. I always had the black ones in the past. Can't help with the fitment other than an easy fix is to show it with the front end tilted forward. Yes, it's cheating, but it works. Russ -
Thanks. I will have to get there soon. Russ

Moebius Models Under New Ownership
russosborne replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jesse, Not a single one of those was a car kit. And all I've seen of what they do for cars has been low rider type stuff. Obviously I can be wrong, and hope I am. Just going on what I have seen of theirs in hobby shops in the past. Nothing against those who like low riders, but that isn't for me. I even went to their website. One car model kit, AMT's 70 Impala, and it was out of stock. What am I missing? Thanks, Russ -
Monogram Badman decals - other colors?
russosborne replied to russosborne's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks! -
Getting (hopefully) the black street machine version of this kit. Instead of painting it yellow, I am thinking it would be cool to keep it black but still have it be the Badman. So I would need decals that would work with that. Thinking yellow for the stripes that are black on the Badman kit. Want it to be the exact same car only the colors are inverted. Black where yellow, yellow where black, etc. Does anyone know of anyone who sells such a thing? If not done I will probably paint it yellow, but currently I am on a polished plastic kick and trying to avoid painting bodies. Thanks, Russ

I hadn't noticed the front suspension was a VW. Still interested in using the frame for another car, but might have to change my thinking on which one. Maybe a front engined VW bug. Looks like it should be easy enough to modify for a different wheelbase body regardless. Even by a klutz like me. Agreed though I would like to wait until it hits the clearance aisle. But if it is sold at HL a 40% off coupon would work. Russ
