  1. Got the Dyno Don Eliminator Funny Car (finally!) at one of the local hobby shops. $34.95. Slight sticker shock, but I was buying it come heck or high water once I found one on the shelf. I still want to get several more, but will need to be cheaper for me to justify it. Also stopped by the local to me Hobby Lobby and got the AMT 40 Ford Sedan with the 40% off coupon. Russ
  2. Isn't that a twin engine car at the 52 second mark? Russ
  3. HL at 75th and Bell in Glendale had 3 clearance kits today. The Lindberg 37 Ford Convertible, the Revell Porsche 914/6 2n1, and the Lindberg Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria ship kit (all three ships in one box. 1/144 scale). I bought one each of all 3. Didn't really want any of them, but what the heck. When I left the store there were still 2 of each of the above on the shelves. These were all in the regular model section. I looked in the clearance section, but nothing there. They had several of the other kits mentioned in this thread, but those weren't on clearance. Had a few (very few) cans of Testor's spray paint on clearance, but no colors I would likely ever use. Hoping I can use the 37 chassis for something else. Don't know why I bought the Porsche other than it was cheap. Not something that interests me at all. Thanks, Russ
  4. Wasn't this just re-released in the last two years? Without the full Ala Kart? Russ
  5. Nothing clearanced at the Glendale Az store on Thursday. If I had seen this earlier I would have tried again. This store also does not scan. Wish they would, but then the prices would probably go up. Russ
  6. on that note, Sorry Bill, that was just too good an opportunity to pass up. Russ
  7. Gee, for me that is an irk. Not that YOU woke up alive, but that I did. Russ
  8. Bought the AMT Don Prudhomme wedge dragster. Wasn't planned, but the hobby shop didn't have the Dyno Don Funny car yet and I really wanted to buy a kit. I had forgotten about this and the Tom McEwen version. Saw it and decided to go ahead and get one before I forget about them again. I'd like to get the McEwen version as well someday. $29.95 plus tax. Not too bad. Thanks, Russ
  9. No sign of it at the local HL here. But a regular hobby shop also doesn't have it yet. Not sure if it has actually hit the streets yet. Russ
  10. Well, the handle is a good 3 scale inches too short. And there is something wrong with the shape of the base. Sorry, couldn't resist. Russ
  11. Are any of the online sites listing this yet, either as a pre order or ??? Thanks, Russ
  12. I'm not going out of my way to buy any kits, but I am trying to go ahead and buy stuff that I want when I can get it. I've been burned way too many times in the past by waiting too long and something either is no longer available or only available at 3 times the original price. I'm hoping this all ends well. Revell isn't my favorite model company but they have a lot of stuff that I do want. Russ
  13. Yeah, it's a fantasy custom. Nothing to do with reality. Designed to resemble the real thing, but not be the real thing. Just like the Beer Wagon. And most of TD's stuff. Which I love. But reality, no way. Russ
  14. Will turn 59 in August. I only feel 89 physically. Mentally I am still around 17. Unfortunately those two really cause issues. Been building as long as I can remember. My dad was a kid (17) when I was born. He was always building car models and I guess I was "helping" him from the time I could sit up on my own. Russ
  15. Nobody can charge you to access pictures you keep on your hard drive. If I can't post pictures directly to a site I just don't post anything. Now that you can do that here it seems simple to me. Just my opinion though. Russ
  16. I ordered 4 kits last Saturday night. Got them in the mail Wednesday with the Priority Mail option that was very cheap. My only complaint is I wish I had more money to spend there. Russ
  17. Not that anyone will care, but I totally agree with Ben. If the kit inside the box can NOT build the car on the cover with only the parts in the kit it is misleading at best. While the "artist" may not know any better, certainly the people at the kit manufacturer should, and it should be corrected before it goes into production. Russ
  18. One show I was really hoping to see come back with the original cast. Sigh. Getting old just means I will be seeing lots more of this until it's my turn. Russ
  19. I missed out on a local show/swapmeet today. So thanks to you guys I just spent the money I thought I saved by not going. They were out of a lot, but I managed to find some I couldn't live without. 4 kits plus priority shipping for $76 isn't bad at all. I could have spent a ton more if I had the cash. But that was the budget for today, more or less. Russ
  20. If the new owners want to do the manufacturing locally (to them), will they be able to get the molds from China? Will they even want to? Probably wouldn't be cheap even if the Chinese gov't cooperates. Guess it remains to be seen if they would continue to have stuff produced in China. I don't have a clue about what molds are where. Thanks, Russ
  21. Hobby Lobby isn't stopping carrying models. Hobby Town is apparently downsizing their selection. Russ
  22. Yes, and make sure you know how to shoe your horse yourself. I love the Heinlein books, but reality they aren't. And time keeps on rolling and change happens whether we want it or not. And I had a very cheap slide rule for fun in high school. Never was very good with it. Paper and pencil always worked much faster. Russ
  23. Thanks. The auto trans is temporary. Car is set up for a T5 and I love shifting gears. Just have to wait till I get more money for it. Not a fan of them either, but that's what I have for now. Goal is to get it on the road asap and then take care of the details. Unless a good deal on stuff happens. Russ
