  1. Bob, Do you know how that Spaz Stix Ultimate Clear holds up over time as far as yellowing/other bad things? Thanks, Russ
  2. Hmmm, I definitely need that for my 70 Pontiac GTO model of the real car I had in the 80's. I would need a Hurst T handle as well. Thanks for posting this. Russ
  3. Sorry if I am being dense, but what part of this is a "Gasser"? Doesn't look like one to me, but maybe the boxtop picture shown above isn't the only version? Or is Round2 using the term "Gasser" in a different way than what I am used to seeing? Thanks, Russ
  4. Thanks, guys. That's what I get for thinking. Russ
  5. Hurst Hairy Oldsmobile in case you are wondering. So the car is either black with gold stripes, or gold with black stripes. My thinking is to paint the body black and then mask for the gold. Only due to the experiences I've had with gold paint in the far past. All I see in my mind when thinking of masking the gold paint is how much would lift off when removing the tape. Any thoughts as to whether this order is ok or not? Will be using some sort of rattle can paint, I'm open to ideas for brands here. Normally I wouldn't even bother, but this is one of the cars I want to have the right colors on. One of my dad's best friends from Ohio is Bob Riggle (Hemi Under Glass), so as a kid in the 60's I had tons of stuff from Hurst like press kits for the cars. Wish I still had all that. Anyway, I want to have this car look good on the shelf. Thanks, Russ
  6. The OP stated that it had been a couple of years since he had been to this store. Not picking on him, but maybe this is part of the reason it closed? Too many people not going there often enough? Just a thought that reading this jumped out at me. BTW, I do this too with some stores, just not hobby related. It's like I store the info in the back of my mind, and when I need what I remember the store sells I will go there. Problem is after so long the store is gone, or what I remembered them having isn't made anymore, or worse I made a mistake and got stores confused in my head. Getting old isn't fun. Russ
  7. Wife got me the Vending Machine and the Trojan Horse funny car kits. Course, I bought them and gave them to her to give to me. Last minute shopping at Hobby Lobby. She got a gift card from there. Russ
  8. Thanks. I am hoping to get hired direct, either in the dept I am in or another. I am going to have an interview soon about a job there in the repair side. Would be about a $5 an hour raise. Most other jobs I am seeing pay way less than what I am making ($19/hour). With the loss of my mother in law's contributions to our income I can't afford to take much less. Definitely can't afford to go back to $12 an hour. This place seems to really like me, just getting hired direct is not as simple as it used to be. Have to wait for an opening and then apply. In the past I would just get converted after 3 months. Just would have been really nice if the agency had said no holiday pay with this company. Not even going to go into how bad their medical insurance offerings are. Russ
  9. Please don't let this be a joke. I swear I won't use a wood burner to attach the engine to the roof this time! This is one of my most holiest of Grails. Russ
  10. Well, I found out about this late last week, but have been too irked to type. I had thought that I got holiday pay from my agency so I was planning on not working Christmas day. Turns out that with this client the agency does NOT pay holiday pay. So I either work or take a hit on my paycheck. Yet it is a holiday for the client company, as is this Friday. Not sure yet what I am going to do. We've been working 6 days a week for several weeks. I had to miss a day last week as I felt like I was coming down with something. Was really counting on having Christmas day off just to rest, but we need the money. I can just show up to work that day if I want to, they are open 24/7. So it might be a game day decision. GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (gotta love exclamation points.) Russ
  11. Thanks for bringing this back up. As the OP I had totally forgotten about it. I need to get some and try it. Russ
  12. I am definitely one that is reliving his youth doing this. I am hoping to rediscover the pure joy I used to get in just building a model. It's one reason you will never see a picture of any of my builds. While I may try to improve things and such, my greatest pleasure is just gluing kits together. Generally when I try to paint or detail things, I end up putting the kit back in the box and move on to another. My happiest builds are the ones that I build with minimal to no paint, and that being engine/drivetrain only. Decals on a bare body. Etc. I am one who wouldn't mind if all the manufacturers ever did was to re release the stuff from the 60's and early 70's. Russ
  13. I know I will be buying one or two. Not much else excites me on that list. Russ
  14. Wow, those are seriously cool. Any interest in sharing where you found them? Thanks, Russ
  15. Thanks. While I'd rather it not be there, guess there isn't much choice. I'd prefer nothing, or else the default we used to have. Russ
  16. Seems it isn't optional if you don't want an avatar? At least I couldn't seem to get rid of it in my profile settings. Not a huge deal, just seems silly to me. Took me a bit to realize others had their initial there on their posts. Thanks, Russ
  17. Thanks again, all. Today was rough on my wife. Got the call from the funeral home that her mom's ashes are ready to be picked up. Have to figure out where to put them, we aren't keeping them. Wife's choice, and her mom wanted to be put in a rose garden or something. Rich, sorry for your loss. No problems from me about your post. I just start them, can't tell where they will end up. Sometimes, like in your case, it helps someone else. Which is a good thing. Russ
  18. Irked at myself. One of the most recent models I have worked on was the Beer Wagon. Had the body assembled/painted. Never got around to putting it back in the box after painting and just didn't put it away. Well, it fell the other day and I looked real quick and didn't see it. Figured it went under something and I was too lazy to move stuff to look. (this was all before the cleaning/rearranging we've been doing since my mil died.) Well, my wife found it on the bedroom floor. The grille/nose has been chewed off. One of our dogs got ahold of it and had it under the bed where the little klepto keeps his stash. Fortunately he doesn't seem to have had any problems from it. I'm sure he just chewed it and didn't actually eat it. So now I have a parts kit I guess. The sad thing is after painting it I regretted doing it. Realized it would have been better to just polish the yellow plastic. I'll get another one someday, Tom Daniel kits are pretty much in my top 5% of kits. And I just had an idea of where I can use the rims/tires from this kit. So at least something good will result. Russ
  19. Having to work Friday, and ending up almost quitting. Idiot coworker wouldn't do his job, which affected me directly. Was tired (7th day straight working) and not in a good mood to begin with. Supposed to have worked 8 hours, I left after 2.5. I actually started to storm out, then remembered I left my lunch stuff. By the time I got back I cooled off enough to just clean up and go home instead of quitting. And I get to work with him alone again tomorrow. Russ
  20. Thanks everyone. Been a bad year for deaths in our family. Guess it is just going to get worse in the years to come. Sometimes getting old sucks. Russ
  21. The bad news is that my mother in law died. Didn't need a hobby room this bad. Was a week ago tonight, just haven't gotten around to writing about it before now. She was 89. Been doing pretty well up to about 3 weeks ago or so. Then she went downhill fast, but this still came as a shock. We were all thinking this was just another spell of not feeling good and she'd be back to normal soon. She had been living with us for about the past 5 years or so. Thought she'd be around for a few more years at least. Thanks, Russ
  22. Thanks! Just down the road from my house. Russ
  23. What swap meet? Sorry for the off topic. Thanks, Russ
  24. Sorry to hear about that, Alan. Best wishes. Russ
  25. Rommel's Rod! Another oldie but goodie I've always wanted. Russ
