I'm building the Tamiya 300SL and could use some advice on how to mask/ paint the hubcaps. I'm trying to us liquid mask/ trim with exacto. The liquid mask keeps rolling off of the high areas, which is what I'm trying to mask off.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone . I asked beacause I did the amt 70 1/2 motion camaro that was molded in green. I used silver and tamiya white primer as base but the green still bled through the white areas.

I'm considering painting a kit that I have white. The problem is that the kit is molded in red. Any suggestions on a primer or basecoat that will work for this ?

Incredible work Randy ! The detail is unbelievable. I just now found this thread. I'm struggling with my box stock LaFerrari right now. I tried to do the candy apple red on it. Failed twice and went with the Italian red.

This was my first time using it . first coat went on well. second coat looked a little peely on top so I added a bit more and I'll bet that's what did it. This wa right ot of the can. I'm not having the best of luck learning the airbrush.

I'm trying to paint my Tamiya LaFerrari for the 3rd time. After applying the 2nd clear coat I noticed that the white primer started showing through. Anyone else ever have this happen?

I'm building a Tamiya Laferrari and I could use some advice. Originally I wanted to do a 3 stage candy paint job but I'm afraid that the paint will wind up too thick for the intricate parts and detail on this kit. What do you guys think ? I also want to know what the best fine line masking tape is for models. I've tried tamiya's tape but it had a lot of bleed through and wasn't very flexible. Thanks, Tim

What's the best way to paint parts that are molded in color ? I'm trying to paint something red over grey plastic and it seems to bleed through or darken the red. A while back I was trying to paint a car that had white accents. The body was molded in green. I primed it with tamiya white primer and used a silver base but the green still bled through.
