AMT '49 Ford Customized Coupe the hard way - Update 10-1
JTalmage replied to Bernard Kron's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Love the work going into this! I too know about "flat spots" I've had no time to even touch a plastic kit let alone think about em. By the way if you havent figured it out yet I've solved the mystery of the strange tab that was hanging down on the roof section that you were sent! I bought a '49 on ebay, and that tab that sticks down is also on that kit. It is used with a strangely shaped little metal clip that also attaches to a tab off the back of the hood. It allows the hood to "snap" shut after opening it, and to stay shut when you turn the model upside down. I'll have to get a pic of that when I get some time. -
I kinda like that last one. Neat take on the "overchopped" rods

I wish I had time to build something to take the General Mayhem's place. I don't even have time to think let alone build anymore.

I built one that I have been meaning to send to a resin caster that wants to produce them. Just haven't had any time to send it off. -
Roadkill's '68 Dodge Charger "General Mayhem"
JTalmage replied to JTalmage's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nope. a forum member stiffed me on parts. Been working overtime almost every day and working on a truck doing body repairs on weekends. I put all my building supplies up for now. -
A coworker went to a little country auction and there were some models and there were a couple folks buying them up. One person Who was buying them my coworker ran in to after the auction, and the guy bought a few models for the display cases. The guy was tossing the models in the trash! My coworker came up on him in time to save these two Bosses. He got them for nothing and gave em to me since he knows I'm a gearhead, mustang fan, and model builder. Pretty darn cool. They're in great shape just missing some minor parts but I might not even restore em.

For me it depends on the car. -
Guys I'm dropping out unfortunately. I was promised the parts last week and I still haven't received them so I've given up. I'll never deal with this particular member again. General Mayhem is out of the running.

I got my multiple ebay winnings in. Like 8 different rebuilders.... whenever I have time to mess with them anymore.

I like any of those suggestions. Also some ideas are: Compact Cannonball - cars with a 1:1 wheelbase shorter than xxx inches. (cant think of that magic number at the moment.. but going away from luxobarges and big muscle cars) Colossal Cannonball - Cars with a 1:1 wheelbase over XXX inches (for big luxobarges and big muscle cars!)

Any tips on making that scoop? I'd like to make one similar and cover it in chrome BMF

My little pal is a black and white male short hair cat. Named Stitches since when we got him as a kitten he had a huge gash in his side after he and his brother ran away for 3 months. He's about 4 or 5 now and knows how to be lazy but still has tons of play in him. And he's the best darn hunter there is. He's caught birds, squirrels, chipmunks, snakes, moles, shrews, mice, and if he knew he could take one down he would probably try for a deer! He sleeps on my bed most nights especially in the winter. And is also my alarm clock. It's amazing what a cat standing on your head will do. That or scratching something that makes an annoying noise. He knows what will make noise enough to bother you until you're awake. I'll have to get a picture up here.

Who says all Mustang II's are ugly
JTalmage replied to rusty85's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's funny... I love old cars and the Mustang II being made in the 70s I consider still an old car, and I am not much into things from the 80s.... yet... I love Foxbody mustangs. I think its because they are like the Lego blocks of cars.... sooooo many cars were built on that fox platform and you can take parts from '79 and parts from '04 and put on your '90. I love that aspect because it allows for sooo much customization and personalization of the car. I can't think of any car that has that much interchangability since then. -

My dad's 65 Fairlane. Mom and dad used to take me for a ride in it when I wouldn't sleep as a baby. Something about that lope cam idle that puts a kid right out. Made me a Ford fan and an American car enthusiast for life.
