    MPC J car

Working on the ARII GT40 next. Basically a slot car but I'll use some IMC or Fujumi parts to jazz it up.

Thanks Everyone. Did anyone notice all the GT40's in the background?

I added the tail lights from the 69 Shelby Mustang but otherwise the build it stock. The 1/43 JCar is a resin kit by Saphirre. The other one is the IMC kit.

It was clear but I painter the inside and outside flat while and then slog white and there the blue parts. I also buil the IMC J car which is much smaller and represents another variation of this test mule for what becam the Mark IV.

I will post more pics of the engine. Not much to see in the front compartment.

When is the last time you saw one built. I finally finished this one. I added black paint around the windshield after I took the photo.
  7. Can't ever count out the Pats and they proved it. Overtime rule is kinds dumb though.
  8. There was a metal body version of this kit that build up into a nice Bullitt replica. Welcome back to modeling.
  9. Looks great so far. What still annoys me is the model companies back in the day put engines in kits that never came in the real car I guess to save some money on a new mold. You can't argue it would be cool if there really were some Big Fords with factory Boss 429 engines besides in NASCAR but it never happened.
  10. It would great if folks at NNL east could refrain from smoking in the long line outside before the show opens. Always have and always will HATE the smell of second hand smoke.
  11. Thanks for posting. Body color it is for the inside area except for the black grille and chrome trim As we know the kit part includes all these areas so paint accordingly.
  12. Motor city only does 71-73 coupes, not convertibles.
  13. Refs are nor perfect but that is the scorers responsibility or whoever is doing the book. You can not take away points due to a rule be not enforced timely. You play and move on.
  14. An FYI - the insides of the chrome grille/bumper area are body color on the real car. It looks great so far and curious what it will look like when it is finished.
  15. Very true. Not sure how many hundreds of parts he sells but all least the top 50 or 100 would be worth the time.
  16. I've mentioned this in other posts. The only way Norm will get a website iis if he pays someone to develop and maintain it. Seeing how he has done the old school mail order thing for the last thirty years I would not hold your breath. In their age of instant ordering on-line it is frustrating to those under age 60 guys like Norm are from the golden years of model building, not the internet age. One thing that would be helpful if someone scanned his catalog and posted it online.
  17. My guess is he figured out by now the regular contributors here are much older and many have known each other for years. Many have pointed out the newcomer should take his market research somewhere else. I have no problem with giving people some free advice and if they can figure out a way to profit from it so be it - they still have to do a lot of work to get to that point. He probably did not expect they backlash and will have to decide do a few people represent the majority of the hobby or are they outliers. Personally I think his efforts should focus on things like assisting vendors that do not use a website to market and sell their products. How about a live broadcast from a NNL show for those unable to attend and interviews with some of the attendees. If this hobby if going to outlive the current participants, the interest level has to be expanded some how. I've suggested some very simple changes to how some events are managed and know what it's like to get mostly negative feedback because people take recommendations as just being criticism.
  18. Another thing I would not mind seeing is a For Sale section. Perhaps a small fee for a listing would generate some revenue. Some people do not want to trade and just want a complete model or parts and not deal with the hassle of Ebay. If you plan on a online version of a traditional magazine I suppose that is feasible but as others have said it would be vey helpful to be pretty familiar with the subject matter. There may be a limit to how many people want to provide content on a regular basis. To make this work I would think you would have to have a lot of traffic or subscribers to make it economically worthwhile. For a example of combining an genuine interest in cars and social media marketing, check out JR Garage on Youtube. I have meet this 17 year old young man and he is off to a pretty good start on his dream.
  19. It would be nice to have a gallery of vehicles by year, make and model, Say you built a 65 Mustang, It would be under the Ford page, 1960-1969 and then Mustang with perhaps sub categories of unbuilt, in progress and complete.
  20. Cool color scheme.
  21. Looks fantastic. Maybe some GT350 or GT style decals would be a nice finishing touch. Either way great Mustang.
  22. I've read all the comments and here are some pretty impartial observations and comments. #1 Do NOT promise 9 issues a year. A more reasonable number would be four. If they cost about $5 an issue to procure than perhaps $20 would cover one year. There is no way $35 is going to cover nine issues. PERIOD. #2 Do not offer subscriptions on a time basis. State you'll get four issues, one about every three months. If that slips by a few months no one will be callling for your head. #3 I subscribed for a year to a Mustang magazine at a car show for a year. About a year later I received the first issue and what was supposed to be a monthly magazine turned out to be about four a year. So my subscription of $20 lasted three years. The publisher went out of business and a lot of people never got the issues they were promised. People will file BBB complaints and take legal action no matter what your circumstances because charging for a product and not delivering it is fraud. #4 Keep people apprised if there are delays via a website or email. Do not leave them wondering and bickering. #5 Track subscribers by Issue # and of course customer number. The number could be for example. S1111D2. The S would be the last name, the 1111's would be your unique ID and the last two digits would be the issue expiration - for example issue D which would be the 4th, 8th, 12th issue, etc. of year #2. When the subscriber renewed the last digit would change to a 3 and so on. #6 Avoid ads that are time sensitive. Threre is nothing more annoying than seeing an ad for an event that happened months ago. We would all like to see the magazine continue but I think the expectations have to be reset. If money is an issue re-read item #1. Since this is a low volume enterprise, the cost of producing the product for the time period promised exceeds the revenue stream. This means one thing and one thing only - going out of business and/or bankruptcy. Relying on new subscriptions to cover the cost of producing current issues is not a good idea. Lastly, feel free to agree or disagree and provide constructive suggestions.
  23. Great mix of the fastback and convertible Monogram kits. It shows who the model companies could sell more kits if they just put a little effort into marketing a "new" kit without having to do more than swap some parts trees, redo the instructions and box art.
  24. It's too bad the molded in Cobra emblems on the hood and trunk are way out of scale. As you know Keith Marks has some nice decals that are the correct size.
  25. I bought the Academy kit on Ebay recently so I may have some spare parts. JC used the Sunny body I had as a starting point to make one of his beautiful racing 289's.
