Very impressive. Most people think of a Pantera when they hear the name DeTomaso but he built some other cool cars. It reminds me of a Jensen Interceptor which there probably isn't a kit of those either.

Old Kits: To Build / Rebuild or Not
vamach1 replied to gwolf's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
$100 profit??? Over how many decades did it take to make that much? Or did the vendor find a great deal tha no one else could. My only guess if they buy up old collections for as little as possible and then sell them for as much as possible. I am all for capitalism and supply and demand but that is a pretty slow inventory turnover. -

I see the same kits for sale by certain vendors year after year. Do they really want to sell them? If they were priced a little more reasonable maybe people would buy them. If they have 300 kits and sell even 20 expensive kits a show, it will take 15 shows to just sell the inventory nevermind all the expense of going to shows and paying vendor fees. I just don't get it. -

Why Glue Bombs ?
vamach1 replied to D. Battista's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I do not buy many but good finds were an IMC J car and the AMT 68 Mustang Mach1 show car. There is no way I will pay over $100 for a $2 kit. The MPC J car was an unbuilt kit I bought many years ago. -
I much prefer good 1/24 or 1/25 diecast but the good brands were pretty pricey and the color choices were limited. I agree 1/18 prices has gone up a lot more than the slight increases in quality. There is also a space issue - they just take up a lot of room.

I guess we can get tired or feel like there isn't anything left to accomplish. I have cut way back on real car activities and only go to a few shows or cruises. I am still buying more models than I could ever build but I love having something to do besides just vegging and watching tv in the winter. Perhaps you can document your collection and post pictures as most is us have only seen the tip of the iceberg. Take a break and see how you feel. I sometimes go for 2-3 months without touching a kit and then I realize I miss the joy it brings me.

71-73 Mustang parts Missing link

I test fit the ram air ductwork and it fits like a glove on the AMT kit and might need slight trimming on the MPC version so it fits flush. -

Great to hear Kevin is casting them. A Danbury mint model was sacrificed to get this project off and running. -
I hope Kevin offers these parts for builders of the AMT and MPC Mustang kits. I destroyed an expensive diecast model so molds could be made of the ram air system, shock tower braces, third member and other parts. Check out the picture of the original parts and some copies. If you are building a 71-73 Mustang leave a post here or see below.

Cool color. Now only 714 to go ;-)
-
I'm guessing the 714 includes diecasts. If it is kits only he must have bought every kit sold with 500 miles over the last ten years.
-
If I count all my diecast I am probably around 270 cobras. Don,t ask how many Mustangs.
-
I like process changes and am looking forward to the show.

Lots of 76 grads on here. I have been to a reunion about every ten years. In the last five years or I can see what everyone is up to on Facebook. The people that tend to go to reunions were very active in HS sports or clubs and they like to relive their glory days. I like to go just to see how old they look in person and at 58 without any gray hair I must have drank from a different water fountain than anyone else.

I am curious what your plan is for the dash. Why a decal is not provided for the gauges and speedometer is beyond me.

Fabulous job. The real one is in the Petersen museum.
