  1. I’ve never seen a cute Cobra but now I have. I saw a Griffith recently and the wheelbase looked close to your shorty.
  2. Please keep Norman in yout thoughts and prayers. Here’s a note from his wife Mary who I’m sure some of you have met at model shows.
  3. Amen about Florida. The pluses are I found a local club (Model Car creations of South Florida) that meets twice a month. Great bunch of guys. I do spend more time outdoors and feel guilty being inside during the day building models. The downside is higher humidity but being very close to the ocean it’s not bad except in the summer. There is a Hobby Lobby fairly close which has some diecast which I collect also. I’ve been here 3 months and so far it’s great and the real car shows are amazing.
  4. Great alternate story and doing this in 1/18 diecast is quite an undertaking but the end result should be awesome.
  5. Here is the underside of a promo from Ebay. The exhaust is from the 67/69 era and thus the 71-73 kits and promos also have the incorrect exhaust setup. It should have twin oval mufflers and not the resonators with the single muffler behind the axle. Likewise MPC made the same “error” and did not bother to update the mufflers.
  6. This one sold for $160 on Ebay even with the bent windshield pillar. ? The things that make the first AMT kit and the promo unique is the MACH1 lettering is molded into the body. Also, it has the “chrome” strip along the lower side of the body. On the real car if it did not come with the “hockey stick” side decals the Ford factory added the chrome trim above the painted bottom area (silver or black) depending on the base color of the car.
  7. This would be the correct body except for the Mach1 lettering.. I have no affiliation with this seller other than having bought parts from him before. As for the promo, I hope you did not pay a lot and you knew the condition it was in.
  8. The 007 kit is based on the MPC molds. These kits would be best or one of the later reissued AMT kits that are not based on the MPC kit and were rebranded by Round2 under the AMT name.
  9. Seems like the back half is missing. Even if you were able to piece this together, it would have to be painted. I never bought a promo because they are basically the same as the original AMT except for the hood does not open and there is only the bottom third of the engine. The interior and wheels might be salvageable but that body looks beyond repair. Perhaps you can use a new AMT body and go from there.
  10. This is my personal opinion but there are too many categories and I’m not sure when the ballots are supposed to turned in by but they use software to enter in the ballots and registration information (I guessing 100 max) for 38 categories all the while cars are moved around into other categories by the show promoter while he is also going around taking pictures, corralling judges for the ten judged classes, running the kit auction and being involved in every aspect of the show other than cooking the hotdogs. On Facebook books he seems to blame the entrants ? and says it’s impossible to count all the ballots and hand out awards by 3 or 4 pm. The same thing happened two years ago due to supposed computer glitches and I heard the awards were at around 8pm and I gave up at 6pm. I call it as I see it and make suggestions for how to run things a lot smoother but there is clearly one person running the show and the excuses get old as people are waiting 2 to 3 hours past the expected end of the event when the vendors have left, the concessions have closed and people are just hanging around (some with spouses) for the disorganization to come to an end. I did get some good deals on some kits and diecasts and I’m pretty sure had I stayed to the end again I would not have had any extra hardware to take home anyway. ?
  11. Here are some more pictures from the show. It was a long day for many entrants (up to 11 hours) as the awards were delayed beyond what most would consider reasonable and I left at 6:30 before the “results” for the four hour drive back home. Congrats to the winners and sticking out the long wait for the awards.
  12. Enjoy the build. There quite a few street legal original and SAFIR GT40’s out there that are still driven in races in Europe. With the Superformance ones and other impressive recreation or tribute cars around it seems like I see at least one at every cars show I attend. I did not attend SEMA but here is a picture from this year.
  13. Very nice weekend warrior that would be no surprise to see a Mustang like this at a local drag strip.
  14. 96 Mustang snap?? ZZZZzzzzzz
  15. Yep. I ordered bought one off Ebay to add to the collection. Like all my other diecast cars they are in storage for now so no pictures of mine but here is the same model from an Ebay seller that is crying for detailing the all black engine and compartment.
  16. This “person” posted 480 pictures on Facebook. You can probably search and view them without joining if the post is open to anyone.

    427SC Cobra

Great paint color and as Gary said a very nice clean build.
  18. I had to sell two of the larger display cases (a hutch and bookcase) I had when I moved so all my diecast cars are in storage. I have most of my built kits in the remaining smaller display cases but I miss my dedicated model car room where I also had all my books, magazines, computer, etc. I did not have a basement so there was no dedicated place to build except the kitchen table which is what I am doing now. I did not really sell any kits before the move from a house to a condo but since there are other item in storage I do not feel to bad that it is only models.
  19. I have a few magazine articles on original and restored GT350R’s which may be helpful.
  20. Very nice. Did you paint the seat ringlets one at a time?
  21. Not that I have seen. Is have also not seen anyone use the 1/24 convertible and made a hardtop for it but that may be an option. As you know the Revell/Monogram 65-66 Mustang kits are far superior to the old AMT ones.
  22. I see a couple of coupes at the end. Are you using the 1/25 AMT kit as your starting point on those two? Only other decals I can think of would be made by Fred Cady.
  23. No worries. I learn many things on the board from other modelers of which half I probably knew at one time but forgot and relearn thanks to the wealth of knowledge here. ?
  24. Very nicely done. If it matters to you the oval shaped “bumps” on the side are lights added for the endurance races that ran during nighttime.
