The Official EBay Discussion Thread
vamach1 replied to iamsuperdan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It’s the “shipping and handling” to pump up the sellers profit. I find it ridiculous that people are willing to buy something in the store (like Hotwheels cars) for $1 and sell them for $2. The time involved for the sale less the fees Ebay and PayPal charge make selling one item not worth it. A seller can probably ship five cars for the price of one and Ebay does give the seller a discount on USPS priority mail which may not be passed onto the buyer. It seems like nobody want to ship decals or thin items in a standard envelope. The USPS charges a minimum amount for a small envelope if it is over the maximum thickness or for a small box. I always try to combine purchases from the same vendor only if they combine shipping. I’ve ordered stuff from Europe and paid less for shipping than what some of the major online places charge. -
I missed this post. Fantastic job on the movie car. There was a UK company that did a limited number of resin kits but I cannot find any as I am sure they sold out a long time ago.

I’m guessing the MENG kit since it has an engine. ? -

I am looking to trade the two wide wire wheels and tires (on the left) for two of the skinny ones (on the right) from the GTM kit. -
vintage sponsor decals ?

These may work. You might find the UMI ones on Ebay but it’s a long shot. Spot Model has more European sponsor decals. -

At least the photo etch, decals, wire wheels and extra parts make the kit slightly better than the Revell “FIA” version. As JC (AFX) noted the body the same as the Revell/Sunny kits. -
It’s basically the mostly the original AMT kit with the Sunny 427 retooled body that has cutouts for the side exhaust. It mostly resembles a fiberglass kit 427 body on an original AC chassis. As I mentioned above the GTM kit is very similar but the box art clearly shows the stock 289 body. Not a problem for me as I will use the AMT kit body and save the body for other kit bashing.

I used my points once to get a gift card but it took about three weeks to get it. Never again.

Turned out very nice. I would have been tempted to add detailing but you captured the look of an original promo very well.

Very nice. The GTM kit has the same modified body as the Revell kit even though on the box it shows the stock 289 slab side body.

Certainly some differences between the two manufacturers (Aurora and LS) but either one is nice to have.
