1970 Dodge Challenger Kits - Whose is best?
Hard_2_Handle_454 replied to jjsipes's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
They do. It's a good fitting hood for the most part. It's the same place I got my 71 grill. Just wish they did the correct rear end for the 71. SAM_0448 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr -
Wow, looks like the real thing.

1970 Dodge Challenger Kits - Whose is best?
Hard_2_Handle_454 replied to jjsipes's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Wow, never thought I'd say this, but the AMT kit is actually better. It looks more like a Challenger. The body on the Revell kits is too fat; if that makes sense. The Revell kits also have prongs on the headlight lenses that make them loo weird. Don't get me wrong, the Revell kits can still look great, but the AMT kit will have the better body proportions. The Revell kit will have more detail and decals. Those decals will be better quality as well. Looks great. I should be posting another of mine in a week or two.

Pretty sure it was; they are both Fords after all.

This is the new Revell kit. I really enjoyed the kit. It's not bad at all and is an improvement over the old kit, but it does have its issues. With the carb on the hood sits too high. With it off the shaker sits too low. I glued the shaker straight to the hood and took the carb off to fix the problem. I also had a bit of a problem with the front an rear end fit, but it came out looking good anyway. I love the new stripes and emblem decals. they look great! The red car is the old kit for comparison. That looks great. I may have to get one. -
Nice 70. If you do want to make a 71, there's a few trans kits out there. I did one a few years ago using a Hart's Parts grill and some decals I got off eBay. It looks alright, but doesn't have the correct tail lights. SAM_0602 by Eric Lucas, on Flickr

Looks great -
Finished mine last night. I did have the shaker hood problem. Ended up just gluing the shaker to the hood and I had to remove the carb to make the hood shut. Had a little trouble getting the front and rear end on as well. Didn't remember that issue with my last one. Hope to post the pics soon. It's mine and my dad's birthday weekend, so I've been busy. I really like how the ones others have doe came out. I wish mine looked that good.

With the shaker and the firewall in place the hood doesn't fit. Had to take out the firewall and glue the shaker directly to the hood for a good hood fit on the old kits. I believe I've seen it mentioned before on here.

Had the kit for a few weeks, but didn't have a chance to work on it much. Finally got it finished Tuesday night. The kit is great, but there's a few minor issues. Still it came out working great! Bought another one to paint in green after seeing the other 71 posted on here. I loved that color. Ordered mine last night. Hope they fixed the hood issue. Been wanting another one. Depending on how it looks, I might even pick up another for my friend.
