  1. Hang them on the front bumper, or mount an extension from the bottom of the bumper. They can also be mounted at the rear of the frame. Multiple plates means the truck is registered to haul in multiple states. It seems that Ive also seen plates mounted below the sleeper.
  2. Just noticed, Dennis gets first place for being on this forum in his photo
  3. I dug this old dude out to dust off and bring to a club meeting and figured Id post it. It pretty much a box stock mixer kit, without the mixer. I added spokes from an Astro,a 5th wheel from a Mack, and shortened the mixer fenders. The trailer has been cut down to a tandem with a ladder added and tarp bracket and arms. I built this back in the early 2000's. It got plenty of minor flaws and things that I would do differently now, but all in all worthy of the shelf.
  4. That is just flat out awesome!!
  5. That fleet looks like it'll haul! Great job
  6. Id go back with the diesel. You can always snatch a continental out of an old military truck. Well, good luck with both. Thats quite a weekend cruiser youve got there.
  7. Squaring up the sides of the crossmembers with a good sharp file is your best bet for a strait square frame. The crossmembers are never strait. Making a jig wouldnt hurt though.
  8. Very good build. It looks like the real deal. Excellent work
  9. Thanks for the info & the links. I have some 1/16 kits stashed, and I could use some of those parts. Thats a cool old fire truck. Thats definitely my favorite era of KW. Did you restore it or is it a survivor?
  10. Also a few here http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/macneil_n_t.htm
  11. There are a few here. A few Diamond Reo's ( currently being sold) and a couple GMC 9500's( available in resin). I seem to remember seeing some Texaco Freightliner conventionals in the 80's. http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/don_barrios.htm
  12. Well it looks like youve got some good kits there. The best resource is going to be http://www.hankstruckpictures.com. You can search by the type of truck, or the company you want to replicate. Theres not much that you cant find there.Everyone of those models has its own quirks, so use this site to your advantage for the tricks and fixing the non fitting quirks. This site is very helpful and has a lot of talented builders. If you dont see a particular thing addressed, just ask. Im sure someone has the answer. Good luck!
  13. Awesome! I didnt know they sold parts. What scale is their stuff? Heres a quick sketch of how I was picturing the radiator. This is completely just a suggestion, this is what I see when I look at your truck. If you add a strip of plastic (.250, or . 312)to the back of the grill to make it look like an old Ford or Autocar grill, then chrome it. It would look like a tombstone coming at you. Anyhow, its lookin great.
  14. I think the black top woud look good, and trace it all out with the thin stripe like the tractor. It looks like BJ & the Bears evil twin, TJ & the Hornet.
  15. Very cool. The post vans are my favorite box trailers. I have an old green one in the backyard.Thats a perfect match, and good use of the power outage. I built a complete Pete wrecker during the two week outage after Hurricane Katrina.
  16. Cool build. Id like to see more details of how you made it a dual drive.
  17. What are your plans in the way of a radiator? Ive got a cool idea using the KW grill.
  18. Great looking rig. I always like to see the versatility of the trucks. Both the kit, and the real thing.
  19. This is coming along good. I like the old dromedary cabovers. I have only seen one or two as models, so Ill be watching.Keep up the good work!
  20. Well either you were already planning on pulling it with the tri-axle, or you did that for me! Im speechless man! This is the nicest scratcbuilt lowboy Ive seen. Maybe because its a slightly different style than the norm. It looks great
  21. Thanks man, I just picked up three more donors over the weekend. Too bad Alan and I live on opposite ends of the continent. I would like to see Alan build a drag strip for those Tyrone Malone Trucks. You can make some wicked burnout smoke with some cotton balls!!
  22. Looks great. Im diggin the color scheme. Very cool. Gonna be a sharp rig
  23. easiest way is to use photobucket.Upload, then copy and paste the IMG.
  24. Im not one to advocate facebook, but there is a great GATR facebook page with a TON of photos.Cant wait to see your build.
