  1. Wouldnt be a Detroit, would it?!? Double check the GMC before you buy it, I think the bed is different. I think the sides are the pickup bed and not an actual wrecker body. Im pretty sure the Mid Cow is the only body like it.
  2. Thats the only reason I have one, and the bed is going on a Dodge L700 Coe.
  3. Its a V groove. I made them with a threading insert.
  4. Thanks man, and no thats the chrome lights from the kit. Ive been in the habit of painting them with the cab because the flippin seam down the side makes the chrome unusable. I usually paint the mirror brackets for the same reason.I sand the seams and attach to the cab before paint.
  5. I got back on the cabover today. I started making the tower for the pulleys. I drilled and pinned the tie rods, mounted the brakes and air tanks and pre drilled the brake cans for air lines.
  6. Just picked up three more junkers to be converted to race trucks. The Autocar will be rebuilt as an A10264 (axle forward). The Diamond Reo will have the walking beans swapped out for air ride. The Road Boss may be converted to a Western Star, or may be a donor for a GMC 9500. Heres what I got done tonight.
  7. Im going to try some of the Micro Mark rivets on the cab and see how I like them. As for the IH, I really dont have any info on the truck. He didnt have it for very long, and anyone that would remember anything has passed on. It was a Borden milk truck that pulled a tanker. He bought a few if them and only had them maybe a few months before people offered to buy them.
  8. Great job. Excellent work
  9. Ive been watching this, and its coming along great. This being a Mack of a certain age, it wouldnt be authentic without oil leaking out of the dashboard. Keep up the good work.
  10. Yeah, I have plenty of camper space. I dont know about givin up kits, but beer makes me generous. Its quite a collection, I know. Ive spent the last 18 years building it up. Theres a lot of prized kits in there, and some sealed that will never be opened. Last time I made my little sister count them it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 550. Over half of them contain resin cabs. Its a little much, but it keeps me out of trouble. Heres a couple more for ya
  11. Whaaaa!!!!! The California Hauler re-issue and now a chrome Mercury!! This has to be the best year for scale truckers. This is one of the coolest things ever!!( in truck modeling)
  12. I found some brass mesh from Walthers thats perfect. Item# 562 3501
  13. That was the first kit I ever built as a kid. I currently have about 30 of them, about half are resin donors. This is a great kit, and I think youll be satisfied when your done. It doesnt have any major issues as some do. As was already said, I always trim off the locating pins to insure a good fit on all of the chassis components. It looks like your off to a good start. Good luck with the rest of your build.
  14. Heres my "to do" stash. Its going to take too many pics to show it all, so Im just showing the good stuff.
  15. Nice collection Clayton. You must have an easy going wife if she lets you keep all that in the kitchen. My hordes of kits are all over my shop with the spiders.
  16. Well color me intrigued......is it some sort of carnival ride? Party bus trailer?
