  1. If I understand this the raised part is going to be a recess with a license plate inside. then lower the whole platform you have it on and drill holes in the top plate at the corners to draw the vacuum. the license plate will cover them up. Or... reverse your mold and make the draw into the recess by little holes in the corners of the recess that would be able to draw the vacuum and pull the plastic into it greg 1 rivet, 2 rivet, 3 rivet, 4 rivet, oh darn lost count....
  2. It appears in the photos that you are trying to vacuum form a negative form, that being the top is wider than the bottom, If that is true you have hard task to complete. To get the upper edge of the plate you might put some small holes in the corners that allow the vacuum pull towards the edge. If it has to be clear then make another form that fits around the upper form and push it on the plastic after the pull but still in the pliable state, my experience is with the Mattel toy greg 'I don't build with rivets'
  3. I had one a long long time ago, It was a fun kit to build and matched up the visible engine to it, It all worked in spurts. One good thing that Renwal did was provide a replacement parts sheet where you could send away for new parts, My brother and I souped it up with lower grit number sandpaper on the clutch plates, a little more battery kit to the motor. Used vasoline to keep things moving as directed in the directions) Have a few parts left, not many, It was big for a kid to move around. Had the radial airplane engine also. Parents thought good investment for a mechanically inclined child. greg

  9. Had a little fun remembering things with the current threads, I scanned some of my old directions in search of the stuffed animals, ended up with trailers, odds and ends. Do you remember ''NoTox', or 'Thermal plastic'? There is a post card membership application for a model club that was like a record club, did anyone belong? take a graze down some nostalgia greg http://public.fotki.com/GLMFAA1/follow-the-directions/

  18. Here is my contribution, GLMFAA stands for Great Lakes Miniature Fire Apparatus Association. Which was a fire apparatus club from the 80's that I had been the president and was started by Larry Mattingly and myself to counter FAMBA (Fire Apparatus Model Builders Association) Fire model building waned and both clubs dissolved. The avatar is the logo from the club, It is a yellow Maltese cross which signifies the fire service, the inner circle is the United State and Canadian flags in a black circle to give respect to fire fighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. This is placed over the great lakes which border the US and Canada and encompassed our club area as set by the by laws of the club. We were International to start with, but had outreach including a member in New Zealand. It was fun and a lot of work. greg
  19. Do not remove as the history and information is needed, thanks for the contribution greg
  20. My error as I did not know the proper term for the casting, This is how corvettes and boats are made if I am correct, That answers the question of different colors as Mike must have had this done in a shop where different gel coats were used. If I am correct in my recollection when building mine this was the sprayed fiber and resin as when it was cut there was not mat appearance to the body. thanks for the info greg
  21. My prayers are with you, A safe and hopeful journey, 'handle code 3' greg
  22. The background scene is of a Western town motif and Bud does have his goggles as I got the diorama as someone just wanted the car. A general store, telephone pole, and horse tie log. I have the hobby set with the wood box, The box does not go together well. If you want I will take pictures of what I've done with it. greg
  23. That's one fire kit I missed, Wasn't interested in it as AMT had the cinder bug out there, I thought that the kits were not 1/24th scale and missed on the fire fighters. I already had the Hubley metal T and made the AMT 25 T into a chief's car greg
  24. Yesterday I was working and had no camera but a late 40 early 50 Ford pick up front wedded to a Ford van rear end in army green, Anyone in the Y-town area know of it's origins greg
  25. Originally MPC with Surfer 'Hot Curl' in 1/25 scale , kit was I think one of the 12 in 1 kits greg
