I was hoping to finish in time for the NNL theme in October but had some delay with working the figure and the Black Shadow,. Inspired by the famous picture from 1948 of Rollie Free setting a world land speed record The Figure started out as 'Adam' figure from Prieser, added shorts, and head from construction worker with modifying his hard hat to be a helmet, shoes from the trophy holding MPC figure. I had to rework the arms and hands, felt like Dr. Frankenstein cutting arms and adding putty The Black Shadow from IXO museum collections was modified with a die cast bicycle tire from an unknown blister toy. shaved the brake lines off the front fork, removing the stock seat and modifying the rear fender, found the flying wing for the tank off the AMT 289 cobra decal sheet. Base is Hobby Lobby stock plaque and baking powder for the flats Since the photo was in Black and White I conjectured on the colors, the helmet was noted as blue or red in stories of the ride greg

need to understand (( Update 11/15 ))
GLMFAA1 replied to rel14's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Once found a missing part from a model my brother brought to me 2 weeks later in my gravel driveway! Suggestion if you have a hose type vacuum cleaner insert a piece of your wife's old hosiery in the hose to form a pocket in the hose and vacuum the area, the hosiery will catch the parts the carpet monster upchucks greg -

Galion Two Drum Roller Complete!
GLMFAA1 replied to redneckrigger's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very nice job, Watched the build, thanks for the insight, I can smell the hot asphalt as this rolls by, greg -
Hey guys - It's a cartoon, Artist license is permitted, I was going to suggest guitar string since it's wound and would give the spring appearance. Haven't watched 'Cars' lately to see if they did both sides and agree it gives balance, Usually sold in pairs at western auto back in the days so most used them front and rear passenger side He also needs the CP 100 sirens on the roof. greg

Lindberg 72197 1/32 900 pumper fire truck
GLMFAA1 replied to forthlin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
First off It is not 1/32 scale, There are no dual wheels at the rear, This originally was a motorized kit. Here is a comparison of the AMT 1/25th, Aurora 1/32 and Lindberg bodies, As you can see the Lindberg (red body) is much smaller than the Aurora 1/32 kit from the 60's I would try to swap for someone near an Ollie's for the kit at 7.99 and go no higher for inaccurate kit greg -
Very nice model. I thought I was going to see the V8 modeled. Maybe some Corvette historian could fact or fiction this story. I have heard through the years that actual # 1 Corvette never made it out of the mold, They forgot to put the mold release and the body had to ground out of the mold. The first Corvette bodies were produced in Ashtabula, Ohio and this has been the story floating around Northeast Ohio since the 50's. Anyone care to add a few pennies to this. greg
