So sorry to hear this news, Gary was a pleasant person who gave me the opportunity to publish articles in his magazine, He gave a voice to the fire modelers. Was always a pleasure to talk to at the Toy Collector's fair in Maumee Ohio. I was fortunate to be the first face on the 'other' magazine and he was always positive about the car model hobby, May he rest in peace. greg

GLMFAA1 replied to CapSat 6's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Way back when, I took the Blazer roof and modified by sectioning it narrower to fit the dodge and shortened the bed to make a replica of my Ramcharger -

Question for the AMT historians
GLMFAA1 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks to all who presented this historical achieve. What fascinating procedure of model production, Thank you for your work in providing me with many hours of joy of building the models, What a surprise to see the Squirt ALF project. What was the projected year for production? They must have really second thoughts when they had to offer the three kits at $5.00 a piece. What interesting facts regarding the management and actual production with the injection (pardon the pun) of Lindsey acquiring AMT. greg -

Question for the AMT historians
GLMFAA1 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interesting Luc is that the re-releases have numerous Ford C cabs and Loiusvilles in different configurations with decals and the construction dozer has had rebirth, maybe back then when there were a plethora of truck movies out the big rigs were popular but not space friendly. Interesting to hear about the Garwood, greg -
When AMT had a strike and was in the middle of announcing new kits of the Ahrens-Fox pumper, the Garwood trash truck and the LinkBelt power shovel had these proposed kits ever gotten off the drafting board? How close to production were they and if they made it to the die production are they still around and could they be produced today by the remanufactures? The rumor I heard way back when was they were having trouble with the long arms of the power shovel as much as they did with the ALF AeroChief. greg

Welcome back a fellow buckeye, and the other Dave 'Go penguins !' For the rest of you , How do you start your car in Youngstown? A. a. Have someone else start it, b. Keep the door open and your left leg out, that way the blast will blow you out of the car greg

Curiosity almost killed the cat, Since it's my birthday I checked the list, thanks for the wish, I took the ages listed and the mean age is 47.6 years old. Oldest is 73 and youngest is 18 Wonder what kind of marketing genius could come up with a plan to get that market share? greg

Interesting part to look at is the body piece between the grill and the bumper, Before 78 the turn signals were in the body part and with the signals in the grille the turn signals were deleted on the body part, So what part is in the new release? I noticed when going through other threads about the Dodge kits there was a box art that had both signals on the kit. Any after market parts maker need to consider this detail. On my full size '76 Rustcharger' I replaced the grille with a 78 grille and kept both turn signals greg

For Snake Since 1967, Ohio has issued special license plates for DUI offenders, sometimes called "scarlet letter plates" or "party plates." The red-lettering-on-yellow plates were initially issued at the behest of judges. But a sweeping overhaul of Ohio's drunken driving laws in 2004 mandated the plates for second offenses and instances where a driver's blood-alcohol level is twice the legal limit.
-
What irked me today was seeing a $55.000 Mercedes Benz SUV in a Walmart parking lot with Ohio special plates (yellow and red lettered) which designate a convicted DUI driver AKA 'party plates'. I guess with that type of vehicle all he could afford after the court costs, attorney fees, insurance and fines was shopping at Walmart. greg

The cab is a Mack MR cab- M= style R= refuse chassis and cab variations. It is not 1/24th scale maybe 1/24 mm It is small and around 1/43rd to 1/32. I had a friend buy one and returned it due to inaccurate advertising got his money back. The M cab for refuse had a standard drivers door the same as the commercial cab and the passenger door had a sliding larger window for visibility greg

Are things THIS serious with this kit?!
GLMFAA1 replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The original AMT van body had a removal recess in the roof and the sides had optional side pieces for windows or sheet metal sides. What was nice it made a curb side option of having windows on the right side. easy to make ambulances The goofy part were the headlights greg
