  1. I apologize as I was part of the GLMFAA group that at first displayed in the vending area under Herb Jackson and later was given space by John to display. In the club house we had other displayers as group 25, a NASCAR, and a military displayer. Had no idea he charged you I should have known since you charged admission. greg

  7. I've been building since I was a kid with two older brothers into models, Always interested in the challenge and enjoyed the challenges. Years ago Chrysler auto workers had a slogan of "I buy what I build". I turned it around to "I build what I buy" just to upset the hoarders and speculators. I have always thought that the sculpture was worth more than the 5lb bag of clay. greg
  8. 4000 to 7000 rpm seems a little fast for any metal work greg

  14. I would also suggest AITM as there is a great variety of cabs, I would be on the look out for the ERTL IH Logger($$$) as the kit is more substantial than the AMT. Not going to be near 1/20 but aren't garden railway (G scale) 1/22.5? greg
  15. Original AMT 1962 Thunderbird. Built by my brother in 1962, had red/white interior, gold underbody, white styrene turned yellow and chrome dissolved through the ages. Rehab project was changed interior to all black (mix of Tamiya flat black and NATO black), repainted frame with Tamiya gold, painted (Airbrushed)body with Tamiya gloss white. Re chromed using Molotaw pens. Antennas are cut straight pins. .
  16. Two of my modeling friends who left too soon, Bill and his father Andy were also into fire truck builds. I had the pleasure of first meeting them at a local hobby shop where I had some fire apparatus on display. Friendship was established that day. They gained a great respect from me due to the extraordinary skills in model building. Many a travels with them to shows and displays, shared meals and warm welcomes to each others home and was great to meet the aunts who replaced Andy's wife and Bill's mother. Pinecrest was a very special and short lived resin source. We exchanged modeling ideas and even one conversation with Bill helped him when he was obtaining his MBA from Notre Dame. Always in memories and always missed. Example of building prowess, Moon township rescue fully equipped. Dave Palmeter and Bill at GLMFAA/NNL meets at the Toledo Toy Fair, unknown date greg

  21. Thanks for the photos, Looks like a good time greg
  22. I'd like to get one to do the 'Death in Paradise' police unit, My research has it as a 'Defender' with a different front radiator and hood which I don't think would be hard to make. Interestingly some of the photos show two different units with different plates and tire/wheel combinations, Any fans of the show from over the pond can nail down what season which/where and when the units were used would be appreciated. It was on for nine seasons and hopefully a tenth. Seems that the unit with the mag wheels has had a hard run as the right front corner of the hood and grill is damaged. Left hand drive unit. Also another build would be the Royal Enfield cycle and side car greg
  23. There might be a start on the universal red plastic sprue that AMT uses in the truck kits. What are the dimensions of the real vents? greg
