Will all the issues you describe, Steve, you really can't see them. The build looks awesome. I'm thinking that was an MCW piece? I've not had too good luck with their resin. Won't stop me from buying more, though. You really should give the Modelhaus a try. Their reputation for excellence is well earned. The only resin kit I've ever actually done was their Tucker. I have quite a shopping list for Toledo for their table too, including a 61 DeSoto and a bathtub Nash...

Ferrari 308 gets first color coat *PIC*
Billy Kingsley replied to ismaelg's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Very cool Ismael! I've always liked that Ferrari a whole lot, going back to, well, I don't know when, but the extent of my car knwledge came from Hot Wheels! (long time ago, 80s probably!) There was a pearl white one for sale here for the longest time. Probably 4-5 years. I think it's probably still there, sometimes they have it in the garage but the last time I passed it was not there. I really want to just stop and ask them what they are selling it for, see if that's why it's been there since the last millenium -
Updated----Sliding back door in '51 Chevy sedan delivery
Billy Kingsley replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Way cool, Ken! When I first got into the hobby back in 99/00, one of the first kits I ever bought was the then-current Revell-Monogram 39 Chevy Sedan Delivery in the lowrider packaging. (at that time I was big into lowriders) It sat and sat until last year when I finally painted it, but it came out kinda poorly. In all the time I've spent on the boards (since August 00) I've only seen TWO built up. I think the poor paint could be fixed by a second coat though...The original plan was to two-tone it, but I don't think I will now. I can't make all my Sedan Deliverys two toned!! http://public.fotki.com/ElCaminoBilly/mode...gress/photo#new That's the link to it. Hopefully it will link as Fotki is acting funky lately. I don't want to clutter up your thread with my pictures -
Very cool build! Believe it or not, my favorite part is the screen area in the back. Did that come in the kit, or was that something you made yourself? Either way, awesome!

Thanks for the help, and so quickly guys. I will try the inside...I have some extra junk windows I will practice on. I still havn't figured out which clear I will use, but I am leaning towards clear blue. If I can get it the way I want it, the build will be ready for and going to Toledo...for a theme...But that's all I'll say I hope to paint or primer it today, I will see how the bare plastic is...we shall see (The plastic is not white so I am not sure which way I will go) LOL @ Joe...Sharpie through an airbrush

I have a project planned that requires tinting some clear plastic... I will be doing it by spraying it with one of the Tamiya clear paints. My question is, should I spray the clear on the OUTSIDE of the plastic, or the Inside? I'm not going to say what the project is yet, but I will say it's an MPC annual kit and I already made a major body mod....

That's really neat Steve...I just got two of the latest reissue and a build like that could sway me from making them both NASCARs!

Updated----Sliding back door in '51 Chevy sedan delivery
Billy Kingsley replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Jairus the body on the 46-48 is totally diffrent from the early/mid 50s body....can't speak for Ken but as you know I did the Galaxie kit and have one of these started (though a 54, and not much more then some preliminary flash removal) I've always been a sucker for Sedan Deliverys. I wish more diffrent kits were available, I have at least one issue of most the tools that were issued but it's not enough!! Couce, I've only built two of them... -
Don't you hate it when...
Billy Kingsley posted a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You KNOW you have something, and you could swear you just saw it in one place last week, but then when you go and look for it, it's not there?? Yeah, I hate it! My 56 Ford went MIA. I only have one 56 (3 57s though!) and of cource now I want to build it, or at least get started on it. But I can't find it!!! -
Bare Metal Foil
Billy Kingsley replied to promoman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hmm, do I detect a challenge? Heh heh I'll see what I can do...(Maybe I'll fix that up to pull the boat for the sub theme???) -
You got it. It would have worked if you didn't include the ? and all those numbers...If you go in and edit them out, that picture will show up too...

Who would you like to meet?
Billy Kingsley replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Darin, I can honestly say I never expected to be on anybody's list! If you come to the NNL East, you'll get two on your list...Me and Bill. Bruce Owen was there either this year, last year or both but I didn't get to meet him. Saw the Virtue RSX though. IMO looks better in person then print. I forgot somebody who I always wanted to meet but finally did...Ted "Chopper" Lear. Always enjoyed his work in MCM and then ended up literally running into him in Toledo last year... -
Bare Metal Foil
Billy Kingsley replied to promoman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hah hah Bill, I wasn't being serious...I don't even plan to start my Caddy this year, it took me about 4 months to decide what color to paint it! Thank you for the compliment...Much appreciated! -
Who would you like to meet?
Billy Kingsley replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow Darin, I never thought it like that before! I guess with that there, a past letter in MCM and a letter and a Car in "The Other one" I guess I would be known now... But, I was more talking about when I first joined the model car community back in 2000 at the age of 15 I havn't been called normal in a long time...I'm not sure what feels wierder here, being called normal or nationally known -
Something a little smaller...
Billy Kingsley replied to Casey429's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice! I've done one 1/87 build and it looked nowhere near as good. A late 80s/early 90s Ford Taurus I found in Ohio. -
As I may have mentioned, I keep track of where all the TNMCC members appeared in print. Even though I don't have all the issues of Model Cars Magazine, and I can't find about 1/4th of what I do have, a BUNCH of TNMCC members have appeared in the magazine! Including: John Bulzachelli Neil Cunningham Jim Devine Steve Glave Rick Hanmore Billy Kingsley (That's me, and I was just added to the list in the most recent issue, #116 ) Dan Marks Greg Nichols Bob Pettine Tom Sheehy Fred Weissinger Doug Whyte and Doc Wiseman That's 13 of our members, or, more then 1/5th of our roster (roughly 50 members) and I don't even have all the issues here to check! We've also been on the cover at least two times. (I could swear Vince LoBosco had an appearence somewhere here too...) 9 of the appearences are articles/show coverage. I just updated my chart for the first time since the switch to the yellow logo...I had to put my Sedan Delivery onto the chart Ok I'll stop rambling now.

Who would you like to meet?
Billy Kingsley replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Boy, isn't that the truth, Bill. I will never forget the first time I met Augie, and what happened after that. It was 2003, and I was making my first trip to the NNL Nationals in Toledo. I was there with Rick Hanmore, Vince LoBosco, Greg Nichols and Jim Devine, who all knew Augie from past events and GSLs and whatnot. Augie had no clue who I was, and you guys know me...Even though I talk all the time on the board(s), in real life I usually just stand quietly by myself and try not to make waves. Well, Augie made sure to include me in the convorsation even though he was chatting with old friends and had never met me, nor even heard of me I'm sure. The next day at the NNL itself (the first meeting happened in the parking lot of Applebee's off Dussel Drive on Friday night BTW) he made me a exhaust tip, just specifically for me. I've kept it in a special box just waiting for my skills to sufficiently improve to not waste it on a build. I have alot of nice stuff, but that is my prized possion. But that's not all. Come the 2004 NNL Nationals, I'm back at the show and meet Augie. I didn't have my usual 3 Nametags on at the time, and he remembered my name! A year passed and he remembered my name. It's not unusal for people to remember my face (I have a unique look) but to remember my name after not seeing or talking to me in a year...That was unbelieveable to me. That is something (and Augie was someone) who I will never forget, even though I only met him on 3 seperate days.
