    49 Merc

I had a lot of fun building this kit...definitely going to buy another one of these. I kept it box stock with the exception that I used embossing powder to simulate carpeting. I didn't like the result I got when I used the embossing powder kind a looks clumpy to me... but it was my first time trying to simulate carpet so I'll keep practicing. I used testors one coat Lacquer revving red with three coats of wet look clear I really love that stuff. I sanded and polished the paint added some detail to the engine carpment but still haven't tried wiring up the engine yet...still feel like I have to improve on my basic skills before I try it. I might try on my next build but not sure yet. Well I think it came pretty good I'm really happy with it. Hope you all like it, enjoy.
  14. This is awesome. Love it...great job.
  15. Still looks good Allen. I think every one has those kind of builds where something unfortunate happens. I just got back into the hobby this year and one rule that I learned and like to stick by is "Don't let perfection turn to frustration". Its hard to follow sometimes but in the end all that matter is that you have fun.
  16. I'm doing the interior of a 49 merc and used embossing powder to simulate carpeting and this also my first attempt at simulating carpeting so after I applied the powder and shook the excess off it looked clumpy and I wasn't happy with the results I got. I brushed on flat white to make the powder stick. I'm not sure what I did wrong and now I want to try to remove it if its possible now that the paint has dried. Also as an after thought I was thinking maybe I didn't brush on the paint evenly or allow it dry enough before removing the excess. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can remove it and what is the best way to apply it again. All suggestion are welcome.
  17. This build came out really nice and great detail. 68,69,70 Chargers were always my favorite MOPARs. Great job.
  18. Nice job.
  19. Brett, I used your technique for shaving down the fender flares and it worked like a charm. I've only done one so far as I am just starting this project and trying to finish up on others. So thanks for taking the time to show and post how you shaved the flares it really does make a big difference.
  20. That Charger is awesome....love the detail work. Nice job.
