Nice job, only problem is someone stole the tail lights!
-
Didn't expect the pie pans and the body color rims, but I like it.

Very nice! Love the stance you achieved. This is one of my favorite kits, and I built several growing up. I can't knock it at all, in my book it still put many modern tools to shame.

Impressive: both your replica and the 1:1! Followed both your initial "trial" build and this second one. With your description of the work/sacrifice you put into the 1:1, that makes me admire the replica even more...

Smart money says we will see a 2-door sedan version in the not too distant future. Moebius has shown that they are more than willing to tool multiple different bodies for existing tooling, based on their Hudsons and Chrysler 300s. The lure of all the A990-based drag cars will be too tempting for them to NOT do it. I'm actually surprised that the sedan isn't the first release...

This is great news! Even though it wasn't on my personal wish list, I know that the 65 Plymouth is one of those "missing link" kits that's been desired by a lot of folks for a long time. Similar to the upcoming Ford trucks - those were never on my radar personally, but I was astounded to see the posts on this forum showing how much interest there really was in these. These new announcements show just how much Moebius is paying attention to the marketplace.

1/25 Revell Mustang 5.0 LX Drag Racer
Robberbaron replied to bad0210's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
As much as I dislike it, I don't think anyone here is too surprised that Revell considers the notchback body "done". I agree though - long term they are just not going to be able to sell nearly as many of these as compared to if it had a correct body. We can only hope that when they bring out the inevitable hatchback variation in a few years, they'll make more of an effort to get it right. If I run across one of these on discount some time in the future, I'll probably get one, but no way would I pay normal list price - there are way too many more worthy candidates for my $. I do consider it a vote: if Revell sells enough of these, their conclusion is that the majority of buyers aren't concerned about proportional accuracy, therefore the "close enough" method of operation prevails. I keep thinking back to the story from the '80s about one of the MPC higher-ups actually bragging about how many million General Lee kits they sold, even though the roof was incorrect. -
Dennis: welcome to the forum! Good to see another member from The Region on here.

Welcome - I'm in a similar situation: finally joined after lurking for years. -
Good to know. Sounds like I'll need to put this one on my future purchase list...

Back to the AMT '68: anyone know if all the 1968 specific details are still present in the last couple RC2 reissues (like the one with the black/gold car on the box art)? I have an original early 80s street machine version (complete with rear view mirror molded into the windshield), then I purchased one of the stock '67s when they were first issued in, what, the early 1990s? At that time, people were claiming that they modified the 68 body into the 67 by eliminating the side markers and changing the Camaro fender badging to the 67 style (which they made too small). The 67 also had a different interior, and they also changed to the correct 67-only monoleaf springs for the rear axle. At the time the 67 came out, folks were saying a correct 68 couldn't be issued again because of all the changes that had been made. Maybe they were off base? I'd really like to get one of these to build a stock 68, but would like to know ahead of time if the interior/body/rear springs are correct.

Actually, with a little research, this is the first kit offered by Dave and Model King in the 1990 to 1993 range.

Nice chop on this one. Just enough without going overboard. Looking forward to seeing this one come together - I don't think I've ever seen this kit built as a tail dragger. Seems like everyone goes the gasser or rat rod route with this one usually. Nice to see something different, and I think you're on the right track with that nailhead.

VERY NICE! Love the subtlety of those ghost stripes, and I also like the fact that you're finishing it off as a "conventional" Malibu in lieu of an SS. Also like the job you did integrating that cowl scoop. Seems like too many people have trouble getting those integrated well. Definitely seems true to the style that many guys would build in 1:1.

Great start, looks like this thing should look wicked. What chassis are you using? -
Shaping up to be one slick Buford there! Amazing what great lines these cars had from the factory. This is some of the cleanest body work I've seen - can't wait to see the finished product.

Gonna be keeping my eyes on this one... -
Nice job on that vinyl top! Car really comes to life with that white C stripe contrasting with the black top and guts.
-
Tastefully done and clean. Love the color selection, too.

Beautifully done. Brings back memories from when I was a kid. An old guy in the neighborhood had a white 67 Dodge with a black top (those weren't too common in the Chicago area by the late 70s). I used to love watching that car back out of his driveway and seeing those big "delta" tail lights lighting up.
