  1. You ain't kidding! I have a nice, large jar of it, in the form of Plastikote's "Odds n Ends" line. I also have a jar of their Brass, which is the same thing as the old Pactra Flat Brass. I am sure glad I bought them!
  2. I would go with the oft-aforementioned Jet Exhaust. Almost all of them were running Holley Dominators. If you don't have Jet Exhaust, do an image search for the carbs, to give you an idea of what to mix together to create something close.
  3. Thanks for sharing this link. I've always enjoyed Cole Coonce's writing! I had never seen Alhadeff's photo, either. Very cool!
  4. Thanks for posting these! I was really looking forward to seeing them together. I'm not at all disappointed. Beautiful work, sir!
  5. Thanks, Trevor! They did come out, nicely. At least I learned enough, doing the first body, that the second one will be better! It's coming along...
  6. This is such an iconic drag racing photo. Away goes the basement!
  7. I have not. I have used their Tire Black, in a spray can, and liked that. I'll have to see if I can get by one of the hobby shops, and pick up a can.
  8. A little way down page 4 of this thread will cover the louvers:
  9. It's a shame someone would throw away a perfectly good Enderle barrel valve, in such a manner!
  10. Well...I had ordered another one of these kits, because I had dinged the grille, while grinding away the back of it. I ended up making the new grille surround from aluminum wire, and so on... It's a good thing I have the other kit, now. After I made all my body mods to the first body, I had smoothed it with polishing sticks, and everything. I was ready to shoot it with primer to see what other work needed to be done. Light coats of Krylon primer, just like 1000 times before with nary a problem. The plastic just went "craze-y". I could see sanding marks (remember, it was smooth!) and rough texture, all over the place. So, needless to say, the new body is now very handy to have! I think that when this one's ready to primer, I'm going to get some of Mr. Geary's Zinsser sealer. That ought to fix that. It must be the plastic, however. I've used this same can of primer on three or four other models without an issue. One of those things that make a fella' go, "Hmmm..."
  11. This thing looks very nice!
  12. That will be awesome! Hope we'll see some photos of them together, as well!!
  13. No kidding! You can get a Johan one, cheaper. It's hard to find a Johan anything, cheaper (Yes, it's a tad hyperbolic, but...)!
  14. Those are my two favorite sources for early hemis. They are gorgeous!
  15. Man, you nailed it! This is going to be a real beauty, Ian. Excellent work, my friend!
  16. I sanded the trim off one side, and kind of polished it, so that I can see blemishes that need to be addressed. I decided to go with a shaved look, to go along with the aggressive appearance created by the wheels. I got the red embossing powder I was waiting on, today, so I got that taken care of. I'll need to get the other side trim removed, then I will fill the seams that need it, and smooth everything out (except the badges--I want some stinking badges!). Not pictured, here--I thermoformed a new scoop, over the old one. I need to sand it some more, to achieve a lower profile, but it looks better. Questions, comments and critiques are always welcome. Thanks for looking!
  17. Thanks, Rusty. It's a more open weave. And, it's more the correct color.
  18. I got these screens, today. I did some research, about how meshes are "defined". I think I ended up deciding to go with a "40 mesh". These were intended to be pipe screens. They're perfect for this application! The difference in appearance between these and the brass is immeasurable. I got the grille in better, too. As always, comments, critiques and questions are welcomed. Thanks for looking!
  19. I made a new grille surround from .052" aluminum wire. I'll add a bit of detail to the radiator wall, and install it behind the open grille. I'm considering a small aluminum chin spoiler, too. The grill surround needs some fine-tuning, but, I'm happy with it!
  20. Yes. The difference in materials is a wonderful thing! Your machine work is impeccable, Tim!
  21. The BRE I have has the same panels as the tuner version, it appears? I haven't opened the inner bag, yet, so they may be hiding. If they're there, in their place (I just had to!?)I'll let you know.
  22. Both of these showed up, yesterday from Ebay purchases. I also have an Advent 510 in the BRE markings. That one was started and painted. This one's pristine. When I get around to doing Lotus John's ride, I'll have a clean slate. I built one of these Monogram RSRs probably 35 years ago, or so. I still have it, but, I like the kit, and the wider-bodied 911s.
