  1. Chrysler Turbine. I always thought it was a good looking car, and it's a neat piece of history, but for some reason I've never bought/built one.
  2. Its just the paint. The primer was smooth before I laid down the paint. It’s Tamiya lacquer over rust-oleum primer. I sprayed another kit with red tamiya over the same primer and it came out smooth. We’ll see what happens
  3. Painted the body today but it didn’t go well. I got the primer smooth but the tamiya lacquer crazed in some areas. I’ll give it a week and sand out what I can before spraying again. Hopefully I don’t have to strip and repaint.
  4. looks sharp! The wheels look great to me. I always liked the Bs
  5. Looking sharp, Luke! That Coyote motor is a tight squeeze!
  6. Unfortunately, sometimes it hard to make time for this hobby. I want to make sure I'm done by the 15th of March, though. I got some primer on the Maverick today, and started painting the chassis and interior tub last night
  7. I stripped the chrome from the cam covers, wheels and some other bits a few weeks ago. Had a chance to spray some paint today, and made a little progress on the engine. painted the chassis and some other stuff but haven’t gotten pics yet. Still going to weather the engine once I get it all together
  8. gorgeous
  9. Ha no. Good eye though. It’s a desk my father in law made for me
  10. Nice delivery from the auction site
  11. 45 in a 30, down the main artery of my parents' "master-planned" community. The motorcycle officers posted up behind the community center sign on a Friday night, at the bottom of a hill. I tried to say I was just coasting down the hill, but he wasn't buying it. Said I was going at least 40 at the top of the hill, so he did give me a break and wrote it for 40 instead of 45. Took the defensive driving course a few weeks later.
  12. always liked this one. I have a WIP box stock build of this one, but several projects ahead of it.
  13. first actual car I drove myself was a diesel VW rabbit. I was 12 or 13, visiting a friend's ranch. His dad let us drive it because it "doesn't go fast enough to get you hurt." ? actual learning, once I got my permit, I usually drove mom's '84 Cutlass or Dad's company car Ford Taurus.
  14. I'm a big fan of the Shark (C3) corvettes, and I also collect some AC Delco paraphernalia. I bought an ACcelerator kit off ebay once, but ended up selling it because a) it was in terrible shape and b) I thought it was a terrible kit anyway. I'm surprised they chose to re-release this thing.
  15. I starting using the Faller after a friend recommended it, and I really like it. the needle applicator is nice, even if I have to clean it frequently. Also, I keep a couple bottles of the liquid cements (testors and Plastruct).
  16. Yeah, the styling is great in that it distracts from how tall the car actually is.
  17. +1 - i've ordered several gauge clusters and license plates from him. He even does special order custom license plates if you ask.
  18. Adding this to my watchlist. I've started a couple of these kits but never finished one. My father's first car was a '54 Commander, so I should finally get one done someday. Love the lines of this car, and I always liked the kit.
  19. Resurrecting this thread - I finished the first one, and finally made a little progress on the second one.
  20. Finally got back in the model shed today. Got some paint on the engine block and heads, and did some cleanup on the body.
  21. Yes, the projected end date is still March 15.
  22. Agreed. more than once I've bought the Nova kits just to get that engine and stand. I'm also a fan of the hemi and stand in the Revell '69 charger
  23. i've had a few of those superbird kits in green and weird blues. I currently have a sealed one also, and a nice built up I bought from a collection in that quasi-petty blue.

    Datsun 280Z

sharp build! reminds me of my aunt. she came home one day and told my uncle she'd seen a neat car, so he asked what it was. She replied she thought it was a Datsun "28 ounce." ?
  25. Checking in - I still haven't gotten back to work on my project, but hopefully this week I will have some time. Just wanted to say I'm glad so many of y'all joined and I'm enjoying watching the WIPs. I think I'll be done by the target of March 15, and I'll work on posting some updates along the way too.
