  1. More photos. Had to alter the wheelbase on the body, scratch build the interior and change the rear assembly to coil springs verses leaf springs. Photo of real car from the internet.
  2. Hey, here' a AMT Chezoom funny car body I got years ago in trade. Wasn't interested in the rear engine version. So I altered the wheelbase on the body, stuck in a Chevy "Ratpacker" AWB chassis, modified the interior, added some Slixx decals and you have a Malcolm Durham 66' AWB Corvair funny car, "Strip Blazer IV". Let me know what you think.
  3. Hey, here's a overhead pic of the insides.
  4. There is a lot of test fitting, sanding, and bending before painting. Then you get to do it again when gluing. It is definitely a level 3. Not for the faint of heart. Whoever designed the 10 piece exhaust system was a sadist. Gerald
  5. Here's a project I just completed. I acquired a built IMC Ford GT Mark I off Ebay. Being the glue was over 40 years old and the chrome had not been scraped, it disassembled fairly easily. I had the front and rear panels from an old IMC GT40 MK IB kit and a set of Fred Cady decals for the MK IB. Wheels and tires are from the spare parts box. So I proceeded with the rebuild. I had tried to build one of these 45 years ago but my modelling talents were not up to it then. Never could get the steerable wheels, panels and doors to line up and all work back then. Got them all to work this time around. Let me know what you think. P.S: I only had four six spoke chrome wheels from an AMT Opel GT kit for this conversion. Could use one more for the spare tire if anyone has an extra in their parts stash. Got one on the way, thanks.
  6. I have an original one I that I built about 30 years ago. I knew the front end was wrong ( it was a '66 ) and the Malco gasser had a '67 front like the rest of the body. So I had to obtain a 1967 Mustang and cut off the front and fit it to this one. It wasn't that hard but it took awhile to fit the hinges. Glad to hear Round 2 corrected that error. Happy to see it rereleased however that reduces the value of the original Malco gasser and the Mustang gasser in my unbuilt collection, oh well.
  7. Hi, saw your article on the Stone, Woods, Cook gassers. Great work. I remember those days, too. Drag News had an on going article about the "Gasser Wars". Big June verses Pebbles, Pulp and Chef were the combatants. I remember sending cash to Auto World (for about $2.00 including postage) for their presale of the up coming release of the Revell 41 Willys Stone Woods Cook in the summer of 1963. I finally got it, but my modelling skills were not as good as the kit was (Dang door hinges). The tree was always stronger than the part. I broke most of the small ones. Well, in the last 35 years I have built most of the Gassers I remembered. I have one for each year, 1962 thru 1971. Then the gassers lost out to the Funny Car craze.
  8. I've been wanting to build this car for decades, but couldn't find the right parts. I had gathered several parts but couldn't find the right body. I had an original AMT 1925 T kit but didn't want to take parts from it. Then Round 2 rereleased it. That's when I saw an AMT 25T altered parts pack on Ebay. I saw that and the altered wheel wells were perfect for this car. I won the auction an was inspired again. With the right parts it just came together. Still have a problem completing the lettering. I need to find someone who can copy and print white letter decals.
  9. Here's another project that's needs help to finish. It's a kit bashed Altered that uses a AMT 25t parts pack body, spare parts injected 327 chevy engine, with a Revell Tony Nancy kit competition trans, AMT Fiat Altered chassis. front spoke wheels and straight axle from the parts box, Revell pie crust M&H slicks, rear wheels and axle from the parts box, and finally a scratch built roll bar and interior cover. I need help with the decals to finish. See enclosed pic of real car. Anyone out there that can copy and print white lettering decals?
  10. The Gto front tires were from the spare tires box. They are Goodyear Red lines (I put the red stripe inside) from one of my 60's kits Check out my 25T Altered kit of Charlie Smith's from 1964. I need help with the decals.
  11. The Arnie GTO started out as a Polar lights snap kit '64 GTO Hdtp. With some scratch building, the spare parts box and Slixx decals it came together. The Chrisman Comet started as a AMT Craftman kit. It took a lot of scratch building to do it justice. The decals were the hardest parts to find. A company out of Canada (Bad Habit motorsports) made some, but I believe they are now out of business.
  12. Here's a couple of my 1964 funny cars. Jack Chrisman's '64 Comet (the decals are from Badlands in Canada). Also Arnie Beswick's '64 GTO. Picked up a built 1964 Dodge Chargers on Epay. Disassembled it, made several changes, added new chassis and engine bay, redid engine, repaint lower front panel, hand cut blue stripes, redid interior, etc. I know the side decals were placed wrong on the original but I did not redo them, I just modified them. Always felt I needed a Dodge Chargers to go with Chrisman's Comet and Beswick's GTO. Story was that Chrisman would show up at the drag strips where the Dodge Chargers were running each other and challenge them but they were told by Chrysler not to do it. Jimmy Nix was going to modify the #2 car and drop in a supercharged Hemi on nitro, but it never came about. Let me know what you think.
  13. Well, I decided to join the forum. I have been building and collecting model car kits for over 50 years. Mostly name drag racing, some Nascar and show cars. Hope to post some pics soon. I usually try to do a series of cars by years (funny cars from '64 thru '78, Pro stocks '63 thru '74, dragsters '57 thru '77, etc.) . You can tell what era I'm familiar with. I try to replicate each car as close to available pics and info . Enclosed a pic of some of my unbuilt collection. Hope you enjoy. Magicmustang
