  1. Thanks, but diecasts are usually 1/24th scale and it's hard to kit bash with 1/25th scale parts. It just would not look right. I'll stay with what I did. I did call it a phantom take.
  2. Billy, outstanding work. Love the exact detailing and the stance.
  3. Decals arrived. Had to modify some as I am trying to replicate his car as it was in 1965. He made many changes in '64 and '65 so this is a guess based on pics. Let me know what you think.
  4. Yep, that is the restored version as it was run in 1967. Had a hemi engine then instead of the Olds.
  5. Here's one I've been wanting to build for many years. It's a phantom take of Hugh Tucker's winningest AA/SR from 1965. I could not find a model of a 1928 Chevy roadster so I went with a 1929 Ford roadster body, interior and hood. Did find a '34 Ford frame and '32 Ford grill / shell as he used on the real car. Went with the blown Olds engine as he used in '65. Rear push bar, roll bar, headers and straight front axle are scratch built. All other parts are from the spare parts boxes. Am waiting on a set of decals from Ed at Drag City Castings to complete. Let me know what you think.
  6. Thanks to nitrozilla, I am learning to post pics.
  7. Was so inspired watching "TooOld" 's thread on his scratch build of Dick Jesse's '66 GTO funny car that I decided to finish my "What If" phantom version of the same car. Lacking the talent or patience to do a complete scratch built version like "TooOld", I chose a simpler plan. What if Dick Jesse had studied Don Nicholson's 1966 Comet Cyclone funny car and gone the same route. A full Logghe chassis, engine set back into interior, a full fiberglass stock body, etc. Well, having an old MPC 4 screw 1967 GTO body, a rerelease of the 1969 GTO funny car with the correct Logghe chassis and a blown 421 Pontiac engine, I set to work on my conversion. I did scratch build a Dick Jesse style roll cage and added a set of billygooche decals. Paint is Testors Bright Red. Let me know what you think.
  8. I have the mag article on the original Red 1965 Chrisman comet but would love to see your pics. You could post them on this thread.
  9. The biggest problem is with the stickers. There is not one for the green lower rear fenders or rear bumper. There is enough of leftover green sticker to cover the lower rear fenders and rear bumper if you trim them. The sides of the rear spoiler will need to be cut to match the box cover. As for interior tin, there isn't any, but an old 1975 release Revell 1/32 funny car has one that could work. Gerald
  10. Looking good. I used an AMT '40 Willys pickup bed and fenders to go with a Revell '40 Willys pickup cab and frame. Tried to replicate the MGM Willys pickup Gasser.
  11. Thank you. Stored and logged for future reference.
  12. Okay, what and how much did you trim?
  13. Don't overlook step #9. You will need to cut the front crossmember / wheelmount/ torsion bar mount off (flat with the frame) and move it forward about 1/8th to 3/16ths of an inch, to relocate the front wheels forward in the moved forward wheelwells. Gerald
  14. I used to use strips cut up from an old sheet, but with todays better liquid glues and epoxy, I don't anymore. Gerald
  15. Figured out how to reduce the size of the downloads. Here is the rest of the article. Page 2 A and B Page 3 AWB instructions 3.pdf
  16. No, there are two more, but they are larger than 1.15 mb and they won't let me download. Gerald
  17. I was asked how difficult it is to alter the wheelbase on a model car. Well, here are step by step instructions from a model car mag in Nov of 1965. AWB instructiions.pdf
  18. I'm a fan of Sox & Martin, too. Looks great. Keep going.
  19. Yep, all red engine, low Charger III body, I think he almost had to lay down to fit in it. Al Vanderwoude must have walked to a drummer most funny car owners couldn't hear.
  20. Well, the Edsel is a little modified. I added some stock parts to the body and the AWB lifting chassis and tin are from the reissued Cyclone AWB kit. I thought they made it look much better. Then the leftover Cyclone body I modified back to stock wheelbase, used a grill from a Fireball 500 Barracuda, added a Polar Lights funny car chassis and tin. Installed Slixx decals and made it into a true Nicholson Eliminator II '67 Cyclone funny car. See pics.
  21. Here's a few I have built over the years.
  22. In 1969 she hadn't teamed up with Jungle Jim. I don't think she was 18 years old yet.
