I was watching an episode of American Pickers and they showed a beautiful stock 39 Zephyr. Is there any way to convert another kit to be a Zephyr? I know flintsones has a custom body but I was think more of a stock build. (and the last flinstones body I bought was unbuild-able There is a 41 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet not sure how close this would be to a Zephyr Coupe/Convertible,

Rodding trends - Lack of Model Ts?
Jon Haigwood replied to Earl Marischal's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
In the past T Buckets were all basically the same to me. When I went to a show I would see one and think well there is another "T". Now that I am building them in miniature I look for the actual differences in the builds . -
Yup , gotta find your tolerable range of annoyances and decide what to watch and what not to watch. In these covid conditions our choices are getting smaller. Just watched an episode of "Mike Brewers World of Cars" he had a interesting visit with Gene Winfield a demonstration on hammer welding and leading.

I like his work, the way he thinks thru builds and the finished projects. BUT I am not impressed how brags on himself all thru the show. This is the same reason I stopped watching Bad Chad.

What did you see on the road today?

You definitely don't see this car driving down your street everyday Ron Courtney’s Legendary Custom One-Off ’51 Ford -
Rodding trends - Lack of Model Ts?
Jon Haigwood replied to Earl Marischal's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Seems like our club is trending in the direction of 49 to 60 customs and lead sleds. At the club meetings (that we have not held for a few months due to covid) Hot Rod builds are definitely a minority. -
Rodding trends - Lack of Model Ts?
Jon Haigwood replied to Earl Marischal's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The problem with the T kits is they all seem to have the same interior buckets. You need to do some scratch building to have something different. R&M has a few interior kits for the A and 32 but nothing for the T Bucket. But thats why we are builders and not just assemblers -

As far as model cars go (in scale) I think with the recent emergence of new 29 kits a large majority seem to be building them more. I am getting near the end of my 29/32 phase and getting back to my T Bucket phase working on a Bob Johnston version of Tweedy along with a Roth version. Also a Kookie Car and a few random builds. -
T & T Productions Ala Kart ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have always liked the Ala Kart and have a few kits in my stash. I wanted to build one until I saw the one built by a fellow club member known here as 38 Crush. He spent years collecting photos and information to build the most accurate Ala Kart out there. I could never come close to this so I decided I would do some Phantom builds. AKA: Ala Delivery etc etc. I'm happy just having a Barris signed photo of it.(he is the one that got the resin T&T kit) -
T & T Productions Ala Kart ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This info from a Ala Kart expert. : " decals made by Fred Cady. However even they weren't correct. After you correct all the inaccuracies with the Ala Kart kit none of the decals fit. The Fred cady decals were the closest But I still needed three sets to decal it correctl" -
T & T Productions Ala Kart ?

Not sure holds rights to it, AMT ? Another club member who also has this kit said it was approved by Barris maybe 30 trs ago." There were several other different customs cast by T&T like the Dobie Gillis Coupe, The Car, and the Green Hornet." Not guaranteeing the accuracy of that information. -

Thanks for all the replies and info, I have a place to start Jon

Wifey picked up a Revell 68 VW Beatle kit for me. It seems like it is mostly a stock version with the only option being right or left hand drive. Are there any aftermarket parts such as engines or Baja parts available ? Thanks

Opinion on"craft" acrylics
Jon Haigwood replied to Ctmodeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have a bunch that I inherited but haven't tried them yet. One thing that I read was that on some in order to thin them down enough for airbrush you will lose a lot of the pigment in the paint. -
On my FB Model page I have started posting a feature on some of the custom car builders of the past, Ed Roth was the first one and now I am researching Joe Bailon for the next one. In the researching process I ran across this photo of one of his builds "MISS ELEGANCE" . This dash might be considered a bit busy.
