  1. Thanks Joe. I might try my first thought of wrapping wire around some plastic tubing and see how that goes before I spend $20.00 on these. I'll likely use only 4 or 5 inches of the stuff, so it would be more cost effective to try something else first. But it's great to know that this option exists. Thanks a million Joe! Steve
  2. Bacon and cheese would make a greasy shop rag a delight! Steve
  3. I was curious about that. Do you know what material the screws are made of? Steve
  4. Hmmm. Now that's interesting! You always seem to come up with the goods Joe! I'll check into this. Some people are extremely helpful. Others have nothing else to do with their lives except be a PITA. You're one of the good eggs Joe! Thanks! Steve
  5. Thanks Mark. That was my fear. As you said, lot's of other things to give a shot. Steve
  6. That would be great Bill! I'm not certain yet, but my plan at this point is to take a length of 3mm plastic tubing and flatten it slightly to a more oblong shape and then wrap it with thin wire and bend it to replicate the shape of the existing kit pieces. After that, it might work nice to use the heat shrink over the whole thing. It's worth a try anyway. My guess would be that the the diameter of the tubing plus wire would be somewhere in the 4 to 5mm neighborhood? Steve
  7. I like to spend time building Duke. What do you do with yours other than trolling. Haven't seen much. Steve
  8. Thanks for that useless bit of information Duke. I posted this request 21 hours ago. Someone else dug up that thread 13 hours ago after I had already requested the information, and I appreciate their help. Prior to that, nobody had responded to that thread since May of 2015. If you just want to lurk around in the shadows and bust peoples chops instead of offering something useful, please do it somewhere else. Thanks. Steve
  9. Thanks for all of the input guys!! You're giving me some ideas to try. Thanks for posting this thread JC. This is the one that I was thinking of. Yes Bill, I have already been looking at sets of various sizes of heat shrink tube on ebay. I can get a 127 piece set of various sized pieces for about $6.00. Yup. I have looked at them on Amazon and ebay Mark, but the only thing that I'm not certain about is the diameter of the straw. A regular sized drinking straw would be too large for this application. The ones that I have are about 3/16 of an inch. Do you know the size of the ones that you show in your post? All I'm seeing is "coolant hoses" with no photos. I would really like to see what I'm buying before investing. Too large Pat. And they would need considerable reshaping. Steve
  10. Funny thing is, I'm not crazy about almost everything that my wife bakes for Christmas. I will eat almost none of them. I love fudge and date cookies, which she doesn't make! My wife is a fitness nut, so she won't eat many either. The kids are out of the house so they will enjoy few. The majority of what you see on that table, (and a bunch more that aren't pictured) will be given to friends and other family members. Steve
  11. Question for you Bill. Do you think that some heat shrink over the original '69 Olds kit pieces would increase their size enough to make them look closer to their correct size? My only issue with the kit pieces is that they appear far too thin. I'm not really all that familiar with heat shrink material, or how thick it is after shrinking. Steve
  12. Sorry, you're right. I'm sure the mods will move it. Thanks for the tip Bill! Steve
  13. I had this idea and was just looking at some thin drinking straws that I have at home. Unfortunately, the flex section is only about 1/4 of an inch long. I would have to figure out a way to cut them up and string them together. Not only that, but they seem just a tad too big. Just under 1/4 inch in diameter. But I think they would still look better than the kit pieces. I'll take your advice and check Amazon. Thanks Mark!! Steve
  14. See! I knew that there would be a completely plausible explanation! Snake doesn't just "goof up" things like this! Steve
  15. Hi guys. Seems to me that I recall someone posting ideas for intake flex tubing on cars like the Olds 442s. Does that ring anybody's bell? Thanks! Steve
  16. And this is what my wife did from 9 AM this morning, until 6 PM tonight. Steve
  17. Tonight, lasagna. I make mine like my mother did. With Italian sausage and Swiss cheese. Steve
  18. Gorgeous Gene!! Refresh my memory. Is this the Monogram 1/24th scale Super Bee kit with added resin parts? Steve
  19. The chocolate bread pudding just came out of the oven! Will serve it later, warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.........Killer!! Steve
  20. I haven't thought to post on this thread for some time, but this was the last meal that I photographed. I believe that it was last Thursday when I made "Swedish Meatballs" and mashed potatoes. Wasn't one of the best meals that I ever ate, but hey.............it's Swedish meatballs. Tonight I'm going to throw in a lasagna and possibly throw together some chocolate bread pudding for dessert. Steve
  21. Hasn't been a lot of movement on this project over the past week, but I did manage to get those fore-mentioned rear fender wells painted red, and along with that, the fuel tank painting finished. Other than that it's been mostly prep work on chassis parts, and going through all of my Olds kits to look for the best engine parts combo that I can come up with. Steve
  22. I do exactly the same thing. I have a photo box that I will take photos in, but I prefer to get shots in natural light. In my case, it's a folding card table and my "side yard". My back yard is to the south, so in this part of the country, I would almost always be shooting into the sun. So in order to get the sun on my back and not end up with the neighbor in his Bermudas on his John Deere in the background, I take pics facing north west. Steve
  23. Hey, whatever works! You're right, sanding can be a little pissy. Basically, I just try to assess the tires and wheels that I plan on using and work on a solution that will work for them specifically. We call it "modeling", right? Steve
  24. I'm no photographer myself, but the ones that bother me are the blurry phone pics, or the ones that are smaller than a postage stamp. Even worse are the links rather than the actual photos themselves. I very rarely click on a photo link. Steve
  25. I was just about to ask this question, but knowing snake, there's a perfectly "reasonable" explanation! Lay it on us Snake! Steve
