If I had to guess, I would say that either this is an accomplished builder, (going by the diorama) who acquired a bunch of old built kits from some 8 year old of years past, or he's a guy that built these kits when he was a kid & bought the diorama somewhere along the line. Steve

If nothing else, he sure has an eye for fantastic color combinations! Sherwin Williams must have had a sale on "colors that nobody should ever use"! I am particularly fond of the "pop tab" tow bars on the last 2 masterpieces! Steve

Very true. I have always been much more taken by women who have a little more of the "girl next door" appearance than these "blow up dolls" that most guys go ga-ga over. I routinely see women on the street that are entirely more attractive in my eye than nearly any of the often "enhanced", so called "beauties", from Hollywood. Steve

Well, I continue to go deeper into this project than I had intended! I still have not decided exactly what I will do with the seats, but I have started to modify the door panels to replicate a standard '63 Fury. I'm cutting up a set of the panels from the Lindberg '64 Belvedere, scribing some lines to add trim to & adding the pleated panel at the top of the door. Making that pleated panel is an interesting technique that I saw somewhere & thought that I would try it. It entails making a pleated mold from the tonneau cover from the AMT '59 El Camino kit & then filling the mold with cheapo acrylic craft paint. When it dries it gives you a flexible panel that can be cut with a scissors & glued in place. The tan piece in these photos is the panel molded from acrylic paint. This photo shows the original '64 panel on the top & the pleated section & revamped door panel on the bottom. This pic shows the same reconfigured panel on the bottom with the reverse side of the original panel that I am reworking for these panels. I will be swapping the lower pleated portions of the door panels so I do not have to make new sections of those. There will also be trim pieces applied to the scribed out sections of the panel to replicate the chrome trim. Steve

I don't have any of these tops. These are ebay shots. Not sure about the fit on these, but hey.......anybody got a better option for a top for a '62 Impala convertible other than a rare annual piece? I'm sure that with a little fiddling, it would not be difficult to get these tops to look nice. If anyone has ever built an old Johan kit with a convertible up top, you will know how many modifications are required to make one of those look right. I will not hesitate to buy one of these tops if I need one. I'm considering buying one for an upcoming '64 Bonneville build, even though I already have a '62 Buick top I'm modifying for it. Steve

A lighted magnifier is a lot less work & it gives you magnification capabilities to boot. Steve

I don't know guys, but the wife and I went to Buffalo Wildwings in Moorhead Minesota last weekend, & even there it's hard to get out of there for less than $50.00. We had an order of onion rings for $6.00. I had one beer, (about another $5.00) & an order of boneless wings for $11.00. My wife had an order of "naked tenders", (another $11.00) and a side salad for $5.00. She drank water. $38.00 without a tip. Add another $7.00 for a tip and your at $45.00..........for chicken tenders & onion rings!! If you go to a "good" restaurant, you can figure at least twice that for a couple. So yeah, $200.00 is not expensive for 8 people considering that it would cost at least that much to take them to B-Dub's. Steve

You are correct there. It's not uncommon for the wife and I to spend $60.00 or $70.00 just for the two of us. Steve

I believe it. There are some advantages to using enamels. They level better & will give you a pretty nice shine without a clear coat, but I used to paint my models & then put them away for a couple of months before resuming because the enamel takes forever to cure completely. Now I use pretty much nothing but lacquers. Steve
